Distress Mini Pad Storage

Other than the Ranger storage cases, what kind of portable container works well for you? Free would be nice too!

If you have any of the old clamshell cases that SU! stamps used to come in, they work well (I have my Hero shadow ink minis in one).

Not free, but I like the small case from CTMH and the foam inkpad insert. I actually have three of the inserts for my cube shaped pads. Two fit in one box (it's really better that way, so the lids are less likely to come off), and I have one in another box with the clear blocks and their insert.

Been using the 40% coupons and am up to about 12 of those little suckers - and more to come. Whatever fits today probably won't work in a few weeks. I can't think of anything that would allow me to see them all in a single layer either (and wouldn't be too big to store). I guess if I find something suitable I'll stop adding colors.

The clamshell boxes are perfect for one layer, and if you already have some, they're free. I have 24 in the 6 1/2" x 9" clamshell and they fit perfectly. Most of them are Hero Arts Shadow Inks, but I also have two CTMH distress inks, a Perfect Medium cube and a Versafine cube in there, so I'm thinking pretty much any/all cubes would fit! I have the clamshell sitting on top of the thing I have my markers in, so it's easily accessible.

I have a few - will need to scrounge around in the garage to see what's available. I keep a stash of potential storage containers out there. You never know when some new product demands a different type container. They may also work for the Nuance powdered colors I just bought.

I'm using the Ranger boxes but I started collecting the minis late in the game.

If I was starting out now and planned to do all the colors in minis I might look at the plastic boxes. I would think you could get a bunch of them in one single layer. I use a lot of them for my jewelry so it is easy to see and pick what I want.

I cant find what I want-I usually just walk into a plastic speciality store we have but they are not showing them online...

it would be something like this:
https://www.consumercrafts.com/store...torage/1150-09

But I would look for even thinner than 1 3/4 high because the minis are much smaller and if it isnt very close they are going to shift around in there. Definite in clear so you can see.

I ended up buying a "project" case from the Michaels storage aisle - $6.99, but with 40% off. A couple of sheets of cardstock were scored and taped to make rows, and some ugly DP was cut and layered in the bottom to fill the excess depth and keep the lids from slipping off the pads (didn't have cardboard handy). There is probably room for every mini sold. I like that I can choose to store it vertically like a book if I want.

You all might laugh but I'm a huge upcycler, and I bought Huggies baby wipes in a pretty container (not Frozen, like this link, or I might be singing Let It Go all day at my craft table LOL) HUGGIES One & Done Refreshing Baby Wipes, Disney Frozen Graphics, Pop-Up Tub, 64 count - Walmart.com

Once the baby wipes were gone I was determined to find a use for the pretty container. Discovered I can stack 2 rows of 8+ full Distress Ink pads in there! And many mini pads.

You do have to take them out to look at the colors and I know that's not as convenient but the price is definitely right. :)

This is what I do as well. I also use the clamshells for my reinkers and lay them on their sides.

I had a bunch of those turquoise tin boxes left from the hodge podge hardwear sets. They work perfectly like TH ones. Of someone cld find that plastic insert to prevent sliding would be awesome !

Duplicate...my apologies

For small ink pads (Cat's Eyes, Dew Drops, VersaColor cube pads, etc) I use video tape cases. I cut the two reel pegs cut off with an X-acto knife. Not easy, but worth the effort. Found them for 99 at Goodwill.

Plastic pencil boxes, plentiful at back-to-school time, are often on sale for 59 or 69. Small pads can be stacked double in them.

Go to Harbor Freight. They have plastic storage boxes that have tiny little boxes inside. The box itself will hold 3 stacked on top of each other and when closed will hold the lids to stamp pads on firmly. Will hold 4 rows of 8 (?) pads. Guessing as to the rows here as I only have 12 pads.

Curious, what is it about the Ranger Distress case that people don't like? Too small for dozens of stamps? The plastic window? The flimsy plastic insert? The price?

I don't have the case but took a look at it at the store. Right now, I have only a few of the mini pads and I just stacked them and stuck them in a corner of a shelf. I would like to get a few more colors--and reinkers to match.

I like the Distress tin for my minis because the plastc insert keeps them in place and the lids don't come off the ink pads. I bought mine with a 40-50 % off coupon. I do have the four old SU! Spots sets in two of the old clamshells. Didn't think to put the Distress minis in the clamshells.
