Default Storing copics near a window: bad idea?

I just realized my copics are in an organizer right next to my window. Will this damage the ink over the long term, or is it ok to do this?

I think the important point would be: are they receiving direct sunlight? If so, then I'd say it's a bad thing. I moved all my inkpads a few years ago, when I realised they were getting a few hours of full afternoon sun, as I'm pretty sure it would have started drying them out. If they are just next to a window, but not in direct sunlight, I don't think you'll have a problem.

It looks like you're okay. From the Copic FAQ:

Q: Will it hurt my markers if they get too hot or too cold?

Short periods of hot or cold will not affect your markers, such as leaving them in your car during a snowstorm or in the middle of a heatwave. Copic markers have completely air-tight caps. They can be submerged in water or left in the sun and they will not dry out as long as the caps are sealed.

However, long exposure – such as storing them above a heater or in a freezing basement for months at a time – may cause the dye and alcohol to separate a little. You would notice this if one nib is coloring darker than the other side. If this happens, move them to a more temperate location and store them on their side or upside down for a few days. This will re-mix the ink. Otherwise, no harm has been caused to your markers."

Thanks. The temp doesn't fluctuate, it's just the sunlight that had me worried.

And it sounds like the markers are happy even temp changes considerably. Tough little critters!

I close the window shade when leaving my office since afternoon sun hits my stamps (photopolymer in Avery Elle pockets) and water based markers.

bjeans, I realized recently that my photopolymer stamps in the pockets are near the window, but not in direct light. I grabbed one recently and noticed a bit of yellowing along the side closest to the window. I need to either cover them or move them.

Exactly, Sue, that's why unless I'm in the room the shade is down; they're close to the window. I have some old stamps adopted from a previous owner and a couple are a little yellow. I think there have been advances in manufacturing to help prevent it, but since quality of stamps varies, I'm not going to chance it.
