...when they go in to do a "quick clean" of their craft room and end up pulling out a ton of stuff? I am taking a break from cleaning up my room and I am shocked at the amount of stuff I am purging. I used to scrap tons and now I mainly make cards. I have a lot of 12x12 paper that I know I won't use, stamp sets that are no longer my style, and a ton of little stuff that I forgot I even had! YIKES! I am a little overwhelmed with all the stuff I have piling up in the hallway. Anyone else ever had this happen to them? Please tell me I'm not alone!!
One suggestion I have is for you to cut the 12 x 12 into 4 pieces for some reason it has made me use some of the pages i didnt expect I would ever use again!
Use your 12 x 12 cardstock for cardmaking, just cut to size and then you have some coordinating scrap too. I donate my no longer stamp stuff to a Meetup group near me who scrapbooks. There are Meetup groups all over the internet at Meetup.com.

I had the same experience! I had a lot of 12 x 12 SU paper that I wasn't interested in using. . . then I saw a demo's swatches of the new paper and realized that some of the patterns were just too much visually in a 12 x 12 sheet.
I cut down all of it to 6 x 6 and used it all the time after that!
As to the original question, yes, it happens to so many of us. I think learning from our purchasing errors and discovering what we truly love the most helps in the future though. For me, the goal is to only acquire those things I love to use.
You are most definitely not alone! Every time I have a tidy up/ move round, I find stuff I had forgotten about, but now remember buying, or even worse, have absolutely no recollection of ever having!
I recently moved my craft room from one room to another and to be honest I am disgusted with myself for all the stuff I have bought and haven't used yet....I am like a squirrel! a hoarder!!!!! I have decided that I am not buying anything for a year and will force myself to use what I have and what I have that I had forgotten about!
I totally understand what you're saying. Recently, I did a room purge to take out what I don't use. Now I love my room! It is much less cluttered and clearing out is worth it.
I am still new to this, 2 years. I just started to write down things I have. I found two duplicate Cricut cartridges. Now, when I buy something, I am going to write it down and keep a log. I know this is time consuming, but I cannot afford to duplicate and forget what I have. I will probably start selling some things in a couple of more years. There definitely needs to be a circle of buying and selling.
There are worse things we could do than collect a lot of pretty, fun stamping materials. But I do want to get them organized so I can find things when I need them. I don't scrapbook and don't plan to and I am not interested in any more "machines". Cards only.
Trying to create a couple of categories and then start organizing the paper, stamps, inks, tools, embellishments, books and magazines. It would be so much more fun to have things ready. I don't have a special room for crafting, so I need to be practical.
What is the best way to organize and store ink pads? Thanks for any ideas.
Which cartridge did you buy a duplicate of? HEHE maybe I need it! Listen to me! I probably couldn't fit a cartridge in this room! But I am curious! LOL
I have been working on my room on and off this week and lemme tell you...it feels great! I do this about once a year and I just feel so free when I move out stuff I know I won't ever use. It was fun to take a bunch of stuff to the art teacher at school and have her think it was just cool beans! I forget sometimes how much I like to purge that little room!
