Splitcoaststampers - IC596 - Book Art {05-06-17}

How about something totally different this week!? I'd like to challenge you to explore the idea of making your very own book art 3D project. Don't worry, I have lots of beautiful and inspiring images to help you in our inspiration site : Book Art Pinterest Board by yours truly. Book Art doesn't have to be complicated at all, and the "book" doesn't need to be readable either....it can be as simple as a single page folded pamphlet, or as complex as a multi-layer tunnel book. It can also be a simple way to showcase your beautiful designer/patterned paper, your favorite embossing folders, or even your favorite mixed media techniques: it's entirely up to you, and the sky's the limit! To prove that it can be very easy; as you know I'm still in recovery, but I was still able to do a simple project that took only 15 minutes at my craft table (it felt good to be doing a project again too)! Give it a go; I know you'll find it to be loads of fun, and a way to incorporate your paper arts into your home d�cor as well!

I did this video a while back, but I think it can be helpful to demonstrate an approach for making a base for accordion book designs. It leverages a super easy Concertina technique (you can see the whole book in Part 2 of that video series - or a picture of the finished book here):

Challenge Goals:
Please don't be tempted to upload a card that you have made prior to this challenge, just because it looks like a book. :cool: Rather, take the challenge of allowing your creative juices to flow again, and creating something brand new for the gallery!

Use the keyword: IC596 (no spaces or extra characters) when you upload your card, and make sure you put commas between your key words. Include your inspiration image in the description of your project being sure to only include links from the Book Art Pinterest Board.

For those of you who say you get overwhelmed with having too many, or too little, images to choose from, I've uploaded 10 of my favorite designs! So just stick with one (or all) of those for your inspiration. Click on the images below to see them bigger and to get their links on SCS.

How to Play ~ View the attached images. You may be inspired to recreate the pieces ~ but that isn't necessary ... get your inspiration from the colors, layout, style or 'theme'. Just enjoy wherever your inspired creative journey takes you. Remember, if you are inspired by the creation of another artist, please do not use print-outs of the art in your creation or directly copy their work. Make the inspiration piece your own. Don't worry ~ no card is 'wrong' and there is no time limit for uploading your card for the challenge. There are no rules, so let your creative juices run wild ~ be *inspired* and go get stamping!

Don't forget about No Upload Sunday - Let's give the gallery moderators a day off and not upload on Sunday (unless, of course, you are a Fan Club member - yet another reason to spend a little money on your favorite site).
