This weeks Inspiration Challenge comes from the amazing glass artistry of Linda Billet.
From her site - Billet draws inspiration from her previous experience in fabric and her passion for nature. A recurring theme is water which she feels is an excuse to work in her favorite color, blue. In working with glass she uses dimension to her full advantage, even if it is only a quarter of an inch. Billet says, I want people to see into my work. I am flattered when people feel compelled to touch it. If someone is intrigued enough to use their fingers to see what Ive done, then I have accomplished what I set out to do. My hope is for people to look at glass in a different way. When asked for an artists statement, Billet agrees with her grandmother who always told her, Matching is boring.
For those of you who say you get overwhelmed with having too many choices, Ive uploaded five of my favorites so just stick with one (or all) of those for your inspiration. The rest of you, remember to let us know which item from Linda Billet that inspired you (you can link to pages, but no individual items, so just tell us where you item is located on that page).
I asked Katie (pbvkt) to join me this week to provide an additional inspired card.
Use the keyword: IC294 (no spaces or extra characters) when you upload your card, and make sure you put commas between your key words.
How to Play ~ View the attached images. You may be inspired to recreate the pieces ~ but that isn't necessary ... get your inspiration from the colors, layout, style or 'theme'. Just enjoy wherever your inspired creative journey takes you. Remember, if you are inspired by the creation of another artist, please do not use print-outs of the art in your creation or directly copy their work. Make the inspiration piece your own. Don't worry ~ no card is 'wrong' and there is no time limit for uploading your card for the challenge. There are no rules, so let your creative juices run wild ~ be *inspired* and go get stamping!
Don't forget about No Upload Sunday - Let's give the gallery moderators a day off and not upload on Sunday (unless, of course, you are a Fan Club member - yet another reason to spend a little money on your favorite site). Also, remember to link to your SCS gallery on this thread. Thank you for joining me on this inspiration journey.
Very cool website and art, Stef, thanks for the inspiration. I looked around her Etsy shop as well and found a great bracelet which inspired my card today Gold tone and Enamel
