My preparations for HYCCT are:

have images colored (plenty leftover from last year)
have words stamped (full drawer, no problem)
have card bases cut in white and cream (just got home from MinuteMan Press)
have pink papers (leftovers from previous years)

Still to do:
crease and fold card bases...will work on that tonight while listening to C&K discuss insurance options...

I hope to do all the challenges before the end of the month...won't get them done every day and there will be about 2 weeks where I won't be on-line probably...but looking forward to making cards...

I used to be able to see a lot of stars at night - it was darker here. But now with so many city lights, you can't see much.
About 10 years ago we lost power for 10 days due to a storm. That was the last time I saw a dark, starry sky here.
With the shipyard lights the birds chirped all night as it never was dark by us! We had to time errands well to avoid the heavy traffic times. If I heard the whistle blow before we got to the car I just stayed home til it died down especially in the Reagan years when the shipyard was at its busiest building up the Navy. It scared me to death when my kids started riding bikes...3 lanes of traffic going 45 mph just a few houses down from us was a little scary!

I NEED to add clean off my desk to the preps for HYCCT. I never seem to quite recover from the DTGD challenge marathon in time for October's madness! This year I didn't participate as much in DTGD, but I hadn't cleaned up in prep for it either.
I make sure I have both Ivory and White envelopes on hand as well as plenty of clear ones. I keep a box of HYCCT stuff-ribbons, embellishments, BCA ribbon punch etc. so that comes out. I like to decorate a box to fill with completed cards. Haven't gotten around to that yet so I've been filling a shoe box with the samples I've made. I also try to cut inner pieces in white and ivory for dark card bases that needs lighter insides. I don't cut too many bases ahead as I tend to use colored bases rather than white. I like to have books on tape playing while I work so I need to grab another...just finished listening to an old Harry Potter while I was doing samples. I also try to clear off my SD card for the camera and this year I repaired my light box which was looking so pitiful! I'm so excited for things to get started. The hostesses have been stamping away getting samples ready to go and lining up the challenges. I think you're going to have loads of FUN!

I am determined to play along with ALL of the challenges for this! I got seriously derailed during DTGD and only made three cards (which I didn't even get around to uploading to my gallery until this week - sheesh!), so I NEED to do this!!!

Here's a cool thing: I went through my "favorites" folder yesterday and eliminated any card that I'd already CASEd or that was no longer my style or whatever, and got down from over 1300 to only 251! The rest of the story is that it was a HUGE mojo-kick, so I am READY TO ROLL!!!

Now I just have to go find those pink ribbon pins that I bought last year...

You don't need to be a fan club member, however it helps because your cards will be uploaded quicker verses the next day.

  • I stock up on Honey Crisp Apples and Almond butter
  • I get a Juice It Up's "Pitaya Sunset" smoothie. Its pink & they usually support BCA with that drink throughout the month as well.

  • I plan & cook easy meals all month long.
Mostly I make a huge mess and kick my post total up a whole, whole lot. Oh, and have a blast and a half creating and talking to everyone.

I participated in Dare to Get Dirty for the first time this year--and now I'm anxious to play along in Hope You Can Cling to! This is even more special to me because a dear friend just traveled to MD Anderson to try and get in a research trial for ovarian cancer. I look forward to being able to do something in return for this remarkable place!

Rituals...
I have actually acquired a few sets of awareness or fundraiser sets for BC and such so, I find them... I poke around in my "pink" embellishments and such. ( I keep an eye out for esp. encouraging sentiments through out the year and toss things on a wish list so, usually after DTGD is being cleaned up, I start gathering things I think I "may" use. )
most of which is still piled on my desk or in baskets near it...
I wear my pink more often.
I always have music on in the studio but, it seems to land on classic rock more often during the weekends now... and heads into Christmas carol's (early) after HYCCT wraps up..
I peek on on the chat threads and the gallery and spend most of my commenting time in the gallery. (with a cuppa joe in hand) ( which she raises and smiles)
(yes, it really is 6:30 ish pm as I type that)

I just realized I don't have anything pink that fits this pregnant belly. Huh. Not that I usually dress in pink to stamp or anything, but it just occurred to me. I do have some killer pink lipstick, though. Maybe I'll wear that tomorrow.

I am planning to squeeze in as many cards as I can....my way of paying it forward. I did not know about SCS when I had a double mastectomy and chemo. However, all the parents from my boy's kindergarden and preschool classes, as well as the patients from the dental practice that I still work at, sent cards. It was amazing how something so simple brightened each day. My sons and I could hardly wait for the mail to arrive. My boys are 18 and 20 now, and we still marvel at the kindness people showed us. All of your cards are going to bring joy to people at such a difficult time. PS... all the talk about favorite ice cream brands last year almost added 5 pounds to my waist. Can we compare Weight Watcher meals this year?

Amber, I am on a hunt for a beautiful butterfly die. Disappointed that I still don't have one and I know I am going to want one during HYCCT just because I love to add butterflies and HOPE on my cards during HYCCT.

Happy DAY 1!!!!!

I just read through this page. I love the idea of wearing pink more. For someone who likes pink, I don't know that I have a very much in the way of pink but I am going to search!

Wow, Francie, I didn't realize what you have gone through. Thank you so much for sharing your story. It helps us to see how important a card can be!

Have a super fun stamping day today ladies!!!! I will be browsing the galleries for your beautiful creations!

I bought an awareness tee the other day but returned it...b/c it doesn't fit right now and I didn't want to have to worry about it not fitting after, so I'll buy something after!

I know I'm wearing fushia for the wedding in November, does that count? Planning ahead...

Will see if pink will work for some days this month as an extra...hadn't thought about that at all.

I had to Google that. Never heard them called "Chucks".

And...cute. I have a black pair. No pink pair.

Maybe it's just the shoe, but when I wear them, I feel like I'm walking around flat-footed. LOL.

Come to think of it! I DID have a pink pair...back my senior year in high school! That was 1986-87. I felt like I was walking around flat-footed then, too.

There's always socks! I found some awareness socks at Michael's the other night. Our AWANA club does a PINK OUT night each year. My youngest DD started us doing that in honor of my mom a few years ago.
I have a bright pink pair of sneakers....I'm really not fond of pink, but they were on sale so I bought them!

(Mine were / are high tops.)
These are the classic Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars....still VERY popular!

I'm in my studio! Ready, set, STAMP! Tea in hand. Slipped on my dark pink with lighter pink polka dots vest, so I've got a little pink on! DD3 (2 1/2 yr old) is sleeping in so hope that gives me a nice start on things!

And I love that it all starts on Thursday b/c that is my creative day! Yes, I set aside a day to uwnind!!
