UGH! I have to take a LOT of meds for them to work. With my recent hand surgery 2 Percocet plus advil did NOTHING for me. I'm just freakin' glad that I can double up on Excedrin migraine for headaches and it works!
Sonja,
I am so glad you had that test and that you are with us now to share your brave story of surviving!! Tears were in my eyes when you spoke of the pain and side effects.
My spouse has been cancer free for 13 years now, he had prostate cancer, fully engulfed and at only 48 years old. Our 25 wedding anniversary was spent in the hospital having it removed.
He was getting up a few more times then normal to go to the bathroom at night so our doctor did some checking and just had a feeling something wasn't right. Not high PSA's but he pushed for my spouse to have more tests done! Saved his life, we were told that it would have moved to his back if it had not been caught and then it would not have been long for him.
So, my message too is do not ignore those early signs and do have testing done if something just doesn't feel right!
Many thanks, Sonja for helping with the card drive and for being so brave, sharing your story, and giving us a picture of yourself and spouse!!
Thank you for sharing your story with us. It is definitely a story with a happy ending and a message. Thank you for encouraging us and probably many others to get checked regularly and in every way possible. If you don't know your family history, as I do not, that's another reason to be all the more diligent. I'm so glad you are doing well. What a great picture of you and your "sexy soul mate". :-)
I came to tell you the challenge for today is up and read your story Sonja - what an incredible journey and great advice - wow. Your smile is inspiring. I'm so glad you're here!
Wow Sonja. So thankful that your story has a happy ending. My parents condo/apartment is in Chicago about a mile from the Northwestern University Hospitals. They have hosted MANY people over the years, including some who were in Chicago for cancer treatment. It was good for my mom to have Barb to talk to as they both went through treatment over the 4 1/2 years of Mom's breast cancer. Barb would spend weeks at a time in their guest room when she would come for her cycles of chemo/radiation. Barb was finally through her treatments for her primary cancer when she developed an anal cancer too. When I saw her at Mom's funeral, she looked great. Dad thinks she's doing well. It was the first time I'd seen her with hair. Praying she'll be a success story too.
I got yesterday's card done and uploaded and blogged, but that's it for me for now. A busy toddler is full of "NO" and stomps of the feet today down in the studio. Argh!! So I'm off to bake some pumpkin bread…she never minds being in the kitchen with me for some reason.
Wow! That's an awesome list! I would love to get me some of those chameleon pens but I imagine those are for queens and with surgery looming there's just no way I can create that last week. Good luck to everyone and I will go thank sponsors now!
Hey guys. Lydia has put together the Hostess Favorites Pinterest board. With a gallery as large as the HYCCT is, I saw quite a few amazing cards that I'd missed. Check it out!
Anyone who participates in HYCCT will be eligible to win a prize. All the participants will be entered into Lydia's magic drawing machine. However, for the higher level prizes only the queens will be entered.
Once all the challenges are over there will be a queen's thread started. Here, each person who has completed one separate card for each challenge will be asked to provide a link to a card for each challenge.
I'm so sensitive to anti-histimines - if I take 1/4 of a BABY Benadryl I will pass out for two days so I just suffer.
Even Advil knocks me out

When I had Lasik surgery I was given a Vallium pill and was told to go home and fall asleep. HA! I was so restless that I finally got up (with my eyes covered tightly of course). Next day for my Dr. appt. I asked about the pill and was told it might keep a 300 lb. truck driver awake, but surely not someone my size. I'm a 4.
Rest up??!!! 1 A. M., wide awake with songs from Pitch Perfect relentlessly blasting in my head, I give up on sleep and start bagging cards. Feeling smug (and mildly sleepy), an hour and a half later, I've 19 of my hycct cards (challenges to date, with some duplicates and extras), 19 of my swap buddies' stash cards, and 23 cards from our October BCA swap at a nearby craft store, which my buddies volunteered to Anderson, rather than take them home for their stashes.
Will you walk on by?
Don't you... forget about me...
Just the way you are...
Pitch Perfect nerds, do you know what I'm hearing?
I must sound like a crazy person. I guess I better try to get some zzz's...

When I saw the time stamp on your post I thought you were up mighty early but then I remembered you're in Oregon. We were fellow night owls last night. I got back close to midnight from driving DD back to college and got sucked into a movie that I was just going to watch for a few minutes while I wound down from the drive. 2 hours later I made myself go to bed but I definitely feel the need for a nap at some point today. On the positive side of it I did get a lot of commenting done...if anyone reads a comment from me that doesn't make sense just remember I was up later than I should have been.
Today's sketch looks really nice and it is always fun to combine with other challenges.
Our dentist wants to use laughing gas for everyone so even though I'd never used it with previous dentists (and there had been PLENTY of opportunities) I let him give it to me. Well, instead of taking me off to happy land, I started crying. No more happy gas for me!

Oh no, sorry to hear you had the opposite effect on the happy gas.
Another great day in HYCCT land seeing some great cards. Can't wait to see the great cards with today's challenge.
I hate laughing gas, too - it makes me angry... I CANNOT get my arms in contact with the freakin' armrests, and similar ridiculousness... (They really are resting on there, but I can't seem to feel it, so I get mad that my body is lying to me and I have no control. What can I say? I got issues!)
Sonja - beautiful story, and I hope that NED puts the "happily ever after" in there for you in a couple of years! Bravery and optimism abound - thank you for sharing!
I made three cards yesterday, but have to tweak one of them before I photograph and upload. I'm still six challenges behind, but I'm going to catch up now that DD and DGS have gone home (miss them already). I spent a good portion of Sunday letting him punch every shape I own and we made four Halloween cards for him to take home. His thoughts on all of it? "This is the best day EVER!!!"
Amazing what a three year-old can do with tape, punches, a MISTI and a grandma...

Oh Yeah,
I know what you are talking about...I have now seen the first movie about 6 times. Love it and the music!
Didn't like Pitch Perfect 2, tried to hard to recapture the fun of the first one!

So glad you got to play with your DGS in your stamp room...he will be enjoying that time for years to come and will want to play again when he returns. Making such great memories with you. Super cute cards you made with him too.
Hey guys! Just checking in....so tomorrow is the middle of the month...does that mean we'll have 3 challenges??? I know Lydia said we have 40 this year....just wondering when we have those multiple days....
Brenda I want to hit the like button a thousand times! So thankful for the all clear! Even being the child of a breast cancer patient I know the anxiousness of waiting on mammogram results even though they've told me I'm not likely to be at higher risk since Mom was older when she was diagnosed. I know this in my brain, but tell my anxious heart about it when I'm waiting.
For a few years after, I'd receive the results before I left the imaging center. I'd tell myself it was no big deal, but as soon as I was given the all clear, I'd be near tears. Not so bad, now.
