Greetings, ladies!! Welcome to my first challenge as the Scrapbook Inspiration Challenge co-hostess!! I hope you enjoyed Melissa’s (PaperliciousDesign) Creative Punching Challenge (SIC80) and will find some inspiration from my challenge as well. Both traditional paper and digi scrappers are welcome to play this challenge.
This ad for the “Feeling Groovy” collection by Doodlebug Design caught my eye the minute I pulled the September 2010 Creating Keepsakes magazine out of my mailbox.
It sparked so many ideas, and finally, I decided to use some pictures of my granddaughters enjoying their little pool to create a light, summery page. Here’s my page.
When deciding what kind of page you’ll make, be sure to keep in mind the items you’ll want to use to earn points to win the prize* …
How you can WIN! This month Melisa will be giving away a Creative Cuts and More package to one lucky winner! Creative Cuts and More is an AWESOME die cut company that sells not only die cut shapes but fun cards with shaped windows, 3-D paper projects (already cut and scored), and so much more. You can check them out HERE, if you like.
Each time you earn a point for this challenge, your name goes into the hat along with points that were earned from Melisa’s challenge as well.
Create as many layouts as you like using the criteria for SIC81 (deadline Sunday, 9/19/10 at 8 p.m. EST) to earn points. The deadline for the prize for Melisa’s challenge (SIC80) was 9/5/10, but it’s never too late to post a page for any challenge in the gallery!
*How to earn points for my challenge (you can earn up to 10 points per page): Use at least 3 colors from this ad - 2 points. Use a border punch - 1 point. Use 2 or more types of flowers (stamped, paper, punches, primas-style, stickers, doodled, etc.) - 2 points. Use at least 2 different groovy items from these choices: rainbow, peace sign, heart, mushroom, smiley face, VW bug, polka dots, stripes. For example, you could have, let’s say, a heart and peace sign (In this example you could have more than one heart, but you must have another different item as well, such as the peace sign) - 2 points. Use any amount of ribbon - 1 point. Use at least 1 stamp on the page – 1 point. Use at least 1 square - 1 point.
IMPORTANT:For easier bookkeeping, please itemize in your post which items you used from the above list and how many points you earned per item, including the total points. If you have questions, please PM me.
You have until Sunday Sept 19th at 8 pm EST to earn points for this challenge. On Monday, September 20th Melisa will announce the winner in a post in the SIC thread along with a separate post with a new challenge.
Make sure you put SIC81 in the keyword section so it will show up in our gallery. Post here when you have created your layout and let us know how you were inspired by this fun ad. Hope you have as much fun with this as I did!
Wow! That ad certainly does catch your eye! Very colorful. And it's for real? I can use digi? Yea!!!! I need to take the pressure off from paper scrapping last week! lol!
HI Ladies. Wendy I love all the bight colors in the photo! So summery and fun! This will be soooo much fun and I can't wait to get my layout done and posted. Good idea to ask for itemization. I'll have to remember that with my next post. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!
Did anyone do anything fun?? We just hung out at home most the weekend. I did venture out to Archivers and a local scrapbook store after church yesterday. Last week I was able to go on a shopping trip to a couple of scrapbook stores on the southside stores. Ohhhh MYMY!! The first store I went to had all the latest Christmas lines and I picked up a couple of items from 4 of them. I was soooo tempted to get some of the new LOST and FOUND line by My Mind's Eye. IT's fabulous!! But I resisted for now and went with the Christmas stuff.
Have you guys bought or spotted any new release stuff your crazy about???
Our LSS had an open house on Saturday, I went for a couple of hours and signed up for a three day crop on the 1-2-3 of October so I will have to get plenty of pages picked out to be ready to WORK. The shop owners mother does the cooking (yes we get fed three meals a day) for her week-end crops. Yum Yum.
When I mentioned to my DH that I had signed up he said "oh, so you will be gone for about 72 hours?" I said "No, we dont get to spend the night there."
Sunday afternoon the family came over, then today I spent most of the day on the computer or in my craft room and I just came in from Bunko and am ready to start this challenge tonight. I have a neat idea for "groovy pictures" anyway I think it is neat.
2 points for more than three colors from ad
1 point for stamps used

forgot the ribbon I was intending to add to the tags, oh well next time
Your page is great. Love that photo too. I never would have thought about the missing ribbon from the tags if you hadn't mentioned it, but I guess it would have given you a little higher total. Oh well, your page is super!

I look forward to seeing your page, Melisa.
Money's tight right now, so I've been avoiding the scrap stores as much as I can. I occasionally hit the Michael's dollar bins, though -- hard to resist!

Ha ha! You have quite the cute groovy doodlebug right there! How imaginative on your part to think of this! ;)
Wendy, It's only because I was working on this challenge for a page, posted above and visible now, thought it was pretty ironic she came downstairs wearing that outfit.

Well, it sure was a funny coincidence!

I was able to come up with 6 points though! I used the Scalloped Edge Border punch as corner accents. Sharmill (who lives close to me) has used that technique on her cards. And I got to use my Xyron sticker maker and 2 of my Cricut cartridges for the first time as well as stickles glue. Don't think I've ever used that on pages before.

Hey, congrats Terry -- another paper page!
Looks like you had fun playing with this one. You used lots of your toys! I like your title and corner treatment.
Hello ladies. I hope you are having a fabulous week. Mine could be better if I didn't have a cold and have to study for 2 test that I have to pass for work, YUCK!! Don't these people know that I do not have study! It's putting a major crimp in my crafting times.
WOW! You girls have been busy! I'm off to check all the layouts.
Great challenge Wendy it has really helped me get in a mood to scrap. I found some old Disney pictures that are pretty "groovy". Have 2 pages done and a few more to finish by Sunday. Thanks for such a fun challenge!

Well, Patti, "slow down, you're movin' too fast, you're tryin' to make the challenge last..." ha ha! (Now I'll be singing that darn song too!) I can't believe you've done another page!!! Awesome! More points too!!!
You did a fantastic job on your page, Barb. You really captured the flavor of the challenge. And as Patti said in her comment on your page, you do have two types of flowers, so that gives you a total of 10 points.
