#42 Jan Challenge #2 complete
Comments done,
Samples done,
List done.

I'm driving up from San Diego. I'm guessing it's about a 2 hour drive, maybe a bit more with traffic (when is there NOT traffic in So Cal??) My favorite So Cal attraction is Balboa Park. There's so much to do there: the outdoor organ pavillion, lots of great museums (Natural History, Photography, Airplane, Automobile, etc.) DH and I go there often on the weekends. We walk through the rose garden, the arboritium, around the park and then watch an IMAX movie.

Bonus question: I'll be coming from Costa Mesa. I think it'll take about half an hour to get there (taking traffic into consideration)---mapquest says I'm 20.70 miles away. Fave So. Cal attraction...mm...watching my kids play baseball in the spring and soccer in the fall. Other than that, I love biking to the beach with my family.

Thanks for the kick to get this much done!

Bonus Chat Question #2
I live in Aliso Viejo...I'll be driving about 34 miles to get there (my son lives in Long Beach..he and his family may be getting a visit from me before the event!). I think my favorite SoCal place to go is Disneyland and then Wild Animal Park near San Diego and of course...with grandchildren!

Bonus Chat Question #2
I live in Marina del Rey, so it should take me about a half an hour to get there, depending on traffic, of course! My favorite thing to do in Southern California? Other than stamping and reading? Going to Disneyland when it is not crowded.

Looking forward to meeting everyone,
Yapha

I'm so excited -- this time it printed in purple !!!!!!!! I'm learning a lot. Got my picture in, and learned how to print in color. Guess you guys can tell I'm not SUPER TECHNICAL !!! (I'm the artistic type !)
Anyway, I'm coming from Walnut Creek and will be hitching a ride with Ikimom who very generously offerred me a ride. That was an offer I couldn't refuse !!
I'm looking forward to Challenge # 2. I think my favorite attraction in S Calif is the beach. Any of the beaches down there. The beaches here in N Calif are too cold.

I am really bummed. We are finally for sure moving, and our theater's grand opening is the same weekend as Stamp Mania, so I am going to have to back out. If there is someone who wants my spot, let me know.

Hi Karen!! This is Nancy from Anaheim, Karen's (picassomoody) friend! Saw your post and wanted to give you a wave and say HI!!! I think its so funny how small a world this really is. Looking forward to seeing you and having a great time. I haven't even started anything yet for SCS but I'm a procrastinator. I work better under pressure. I want to wait till I know the exact count for my swaps (yeah I'm weird) and I don't know what I want to do for the shoebox swap. But I'll figure it out. Even if I came up with something now, I KNOW I'd end up changing it!!

I'm jealous of all these organized ladies who are already finished. You are going to love stampmania...these gals rock!

If you have a camera phone you could take a picture and then send it to me with your cell phone. If you want to do that send me a PM and I'll give you my email address.

I'm jumping in this thread pretty late, and I haven't had time to read through the entire thread so I guess I'm pretty behind with it, aren't I??

I haven't posted a picture yet because I haven't figured out how yet. And is it too late to do the challenges? I'm so out of the loop!

Stephanie,
I can only speak for the picture and it's definitely not too late. If you can't post it, you can always send me a PM and I will give you my email address so you can email it to me instead.

Ladies - regarding any cancellations - please e-mail Joy immediately. She may have people on the dinner waiting list. Also if you do sell/transfer your ticket without going through Joy - you still need to notify her ASAP (and the new ticket holder MUST fill out a registration form) so Joy can get the roster info correct.

Thanks!!!

SCSM4 Challenge #3

(if you did not complete Challenge #1 or #2

you can still play Challenge #3! Please JOIN IN!)

***Complete your Door Prize. Stamped Item for a raffle door prize (limit one per person please) - this should be valued at $5-$10. Think of stamped gift items (notebook and pen, coaster, candle, etc. or cello with topper filled with embellishments, etc.) Door prize should have your name in or on it somewhere so winner knows who brought it. Prize should not be wrapped...unless it is in cello or something so it is visible. For value of hand-stamped items think about what you might sell it for to a customer or at a Craft Fair. Absolute maximum value of $10 PLEASE!!! Again if you CASE something from the gallery here please be sure to give credit and DO NOT CASE someone who will be attending this event! You might want to take a look at the SCSM3 gallery to see some of the door prizes from last time.

***Leave 15 comments in the gallery in Today's Additions

When you are finished please post your *check in* post in purple using your # from the registration list Joy has posted and your first name (NOT your screen name). So for example:

Challenge #3

Bonus Chat Question #3
How long have you been stamping? I have been stamping for 2 1/2 years. It feels like so much longer than I really have.
Are you a Demo? No, I am not a demo.
How often do you stamp? I stamp about 4 days a week. I seem to be always making some kind of gift set or something for one of my kids classes. I don't mind at all. I love doing it. I just wish I could make cards as well as I do the gift items. I seem to have a hard time with them.

Bonus chat question #3
I am not a demo. I went to a party in July of 2005 thinking that this is something I would never get into. We did a make and take which got me hooked because I actually made a card and it looked pretty darn good. I could do without the scrapbook page we made but that's beside the point. Now, almost 2 years later, my DH has re-arranged our office, installed new wood flooring and I have my stamping desk in a corner of the room, right next to my computer desk. I want to sit at my new stamping desk everyday but usually it's more like everyother day. Unless DH is out of town for business like he is this week and next so I will be at my stamp desk everynight until after midnight (like right now). Pheww, 6am will come quickly so I better get to bed. Night all.

Bonus Chat - I have been stamping since February 2006, when I was invited to a workshop and thought this could get really fun. I was right. I now stamp about 5 days a week and have taken over the dinning room table (my sewing room it's big enough for all my supplies lol). I just became a demo in February (to get all the goodies). I'm sure I'll have lots of fun with it.

Bonus Chat Question #3

I have been stamping for about 18 years (albeit I'm still a CASEr, don't have a creative bone in my body!) I became a demo in Nov. 2005. Since I don't work outside the home, you'd think I'd stamp every day, but alas....I probably do something 2-3 times a week....but, think that I have so much 'stuff' that I get overwhelmed!!! And yet.....I still 'need' so much! LOL

Bonus question: I got my first stamp in 1997, but didn't really get obsessed until several years later. I became a demo in November of 2005, mainly for the discount. I'm a hobby demo with a very small client base, but I always tell people it's because I'd rather play than work. I have a full-time job to support my craft habit, but mind you, I'd quit in a second if I could draw my paycheck and stamp all day long!!! I stamp EVERY day...even if it's just for a few minutes...but usually, it's ALWAYS much more than just a few minutes!

I have been stamping for 2.5 years. I have been a demo for about 2 years. I stamp at least once or twice a week, if not more. It's so addictive.

Bonus Chat Question #3
I've been stamping for about 4 years and a demo since May 2003. I tend to stamp in spurts- I'll stamp everyday for a few weeks and then go a month without stamps. Since I just finished my troop's Girl Scout cookie sale, this has pretty much been a month without stamps.

I thought the only thing that was NVR was the name tags?

Hang on ladies! I do believe that the door prize is NVR.

There was only clarification on the name tag because it is a contest. Last year we didn't allow non-SU! images for the name tags, but this year we are making it open to any vendor.

Jami should be home from work soon, and I'm sure she'll clear this up.

Thanks. I guess I opened up a can of worms !!
I can do SU if I have to but it limits my options as I mostly have "vintage" SU sets ! I'll keep an eye open and wait for clarification.
