Shoebox Swap Saturday, September 22
10 o'clock to 3 o'clock Laurel Community Baptist Church
162 W. Laurel Road, Bellingham
(wheelchair accessible)
Last year our little gathering was so much fun!!! Mary Ellen (thyme) and Debbi (britt) and I are making plans for another fantabulous day!!
Main plan... You design a card or other item. Make enough pieces for lots of gals to share (maybe 10). Sort the pieces into baggies (with instructions). We each take a baggie from your shoebox and make your project to take home. NOTE: Your project should be quick to assemble. Maybe 15 or 20 minutes. You might stamp some of the images ahead of time or you might score any folds for us. SAMPLE: Bring one completed sample of your project to put on our bulletin board. We will all choose a favorite and vote for the one we like best.
Benefits and Blessings.... * Meet old friends! Make new friends! * Learn a new technique. * Share lunch together. * Laugh a Lot! * Take home 10 new projects.
* PRIZES *
We are gathering stuff for DOOR PRIZES and for GOODIE BAGS.
tools?... embellishments?... stickers?... ribbons?...
it's a surprise
Cost for the day... PLEASE... we must have your $s for confirmation by September 12th. We need that week to make final preparation. * $10 Checks should be sent to....
....Garnet Parker
327 Beard Road
Lynden, WA 98264
* Paypal: (add 50 to cover fees) should go to.... [email protected]
Lunch... * Debbi is making her Wonderful Quiche. Homemade bread, coffee and tea included. * Everyone bring a side dish, salad, veggie sticks, fruit, cookies or snacks. (A big bowl of M&Ms would not be rejected)
What to bring... * Your shoebox project to share * One sample for our bulletin board. * Your own tool kit (scissors, glue, tape) * Nibbles, or side dish for lunch (to go with our quiche and bread)
Map * Go to page 5 post #183 if you would like a map.
Oh my! My September is fully booked, DS and DIL will be visiting for the first two weeks then I'm off to the UK for 2+ weeks! So sorry, I'd have loved to have been able to come!
Hope it's as good fun as it was last year for all you gals!

Hi Ruth! We will miss you. But have fun with family and travels.
This sounds like so much fun. I have never been to a shoe box swap. I can not commit until I get my son's soccer game schedule. But hopefully I can make it.

Cool! I sure hope you can be here. One of the most fun things is meeting other SCS folks.
Thank you so much for inviting me! This sounds like so much fun!! But I just had a baby 10 days ago. If I left to go that far (I am in Federal Way) my husband would kill me for leaving me with our 15 month old and our new little one :o) He's still trying to get used to the 15 month old.. haha!
I hope that you will please keep me in mind for your next one! :o)
Uh-oh ... I'm not a stampin up gal ... does that matter? I actually use mostly CTMH, though I don't sell it anymore.
EVERYONE is welcome! Not just for Stampin' Up. Last year we just gathered a few Splitcoast members in the area. Only one or two were SU demos. The rest of us are just crazy stampers.
I'll add your name with a (?). Let me know when you decide for sure.
BTW... Most of my stamps are from Ebay grab-bags. I have no idea of the manufacturer.
"Golly Gee, Beaver," said Ward, "We haven't made plans for lunch or snacks. Candy, sodas, and all that stuff. Do you suppose Mom will do it all for us?"
Mrs. Cleaver says, "Oh no, you don't. Not this time! It's the 21st century and you can plan it all by your little selves."
Hi..thanks for the invite. I'll try to make it. I know that there are a couple more people from my direction that are not on your list. Sleepyinseattle and another gal that I'll e-mail that posts on splitcoast.
I'd love to sign up, but we only have one vehicle and I'd hate to leave my husband 'stranded'. I live in Federal Way and would pay for gas. Any takers?

Just subscribing! I'm from Surrey B.C. but would like to come down. I'll be in Bellingham the last weekend of July for my son's Little League tourney. Any good stamping/scrapping stores near Bellis Fair mall?? I'll check my calendar for September and get back to you asap. Sounds like fun!

Could tell us where this shoebox swap will be held? B.C. or Washington?
Thanks,
Karen
In Washington, very close to B.C. Address at the top of the page. Map here... Google maps for those coming from BC.
Map here Google Maps if coming from Mount Vernon (Skagit county).
Thanks for the invite but I'll be away during that time. If any splitcoast members in BC are thinking of having a shoebox swap, I'd love to sign-up since I'm in Vancouver.

Thanks again for the invite.

I think we have a couple of people from Surrey coming, not sure about Vancouver.
Here's an idea.... Click where it says member list up above the thread; then click on search members; then on advance search. In the location box type in Vancouver and you will get several pages of member names. Then you do have to look at each one to see if she/he is in Vancouver, Washington or Vancouver, BC. It could give you a starting point to contact a few people.
No one answered my silliness about Beaver and Mrs. Cleaver and fixing food, so I called Mary Ellen (she doesn't like computers much) and we talked about it for a bit. Executive decisions here.
1... We will set the cost for the day at $10... just a bit less than the others we have attended.
2... We will fix a main dish like lasagna or a hearty soup. We will provide beverages. ... you all are asked to add a side dish, salad, veggie sticks, or snacks (one cannot really do a good job of stamping unless somebody brings the M&Ms)
I will add this info to the first post so that it doesn't seem buried down here.
Garnet, don't forget to mention the goodie bag. This was another bonus to the shoebox swap in Everett that we loved! Who doesn't love gifts and this one holds stamping accessory treasures. It's a party, so there will be more prizes drawn from the hat. Good food, great company, gifts, prizes...wow I am excited for Sept. 22!
Cheers, Mary Ellen
