Charity Raffle
October 20, 2007
Creativity for a Cause!
It is with great excitement that I am pleased to invite you to participate in my 2nd annual Shoebox Swap to benefit the NODCCCreativity for a Cause!
Host: Carrie Ann Poff, Independent Stampin Up! Demonstrator What: Shoebox Swap and Charity Raffle Event When: Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 10am to 6pm Where: Tri-City National Bank (lower level with elevator access) 2115 10th Avenue, South Milwaukee, WI 53172 Cost: $25/person
On May 14, 2002 my son Andrew came into the world! Everyone knew he was special! But no one realized just how special he was. This cute as a button little guy, now 3 years old, looks like any typical toddleron the outsidebut on the inside he is very different indeed. He was born with a rare brain disorder called Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum! Hes missing the largest single mass in the brain that allows the right and left hemispheres to communicate, thus leaving him with many challenges, both cognitively and physically. Through an organization called the National Organization for Disorders of the Corpus Callosum (NODCC) our family has found support and guidance. The NODCC has been our beacon of hopeour place to turn to when we have questions and concern. The NODCC is truly an extension of our family.
Quote from www.nodcc.org homepage: The National Organization for Disorders of the Corpus Callosum is a non-profit corporation established in 2002 by professionals, parents and individuals with corpus callosum disorders. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life and promote opportunities for individuals with disorders of the corpus callosum and raise the profile, understanding and acceptance of these disorders through research, education, advocacy and networking.
Come and stamp the day away! Youll hand-stamp 20 cards during the event and receive an additional 20 cards for a total of 40 different hand-stamped cards! Lunch will be served at noon, snacks and beverages will be available throughout the day. Everyone will receive a gift from me for attending this very special event! While youre stamping the day away youll also have a chance to win some great prizes! Sound like fun? Then youll want to read on..
To Register: Complete the attached registration form and mail with your check to Carrie Ann Poff, 1827 Monroe Avenue, South Milwaukee, WI 53172. Send me an email at [email protected] to let me know youre attending so that I can watch for your registration in the mail. Cancellations will be accepted through September 20th for a full refund
Guidelines for Event:
Shoebox Swap: REQUIRED: All participants will participate in the 40-card shoebox swap with instructions as follows: oPrepare a thoughtfully designed card using Stampin Up! Products (current SU cardstock colors required; current SU stamp set suggested; embellishments do not have to be SU) oYour best work with layers and embellishments (masterpiece that takes an hour to assemble not suggested; however, fun techniques would be happily received!) oPre-assemble from start-to-finish 22 of your card design and bring to the event (half of the guests will be assigned to take your card, one card will go to the hostess to showcase at future stamping events and one card will be donated to the RMHC (Ronald McDonald House Charities) oIn addition, cut cardstock and bring all the supplies needed to make 22 cards. This includes cardstock, ink, rubber stamps, embellishments, tools, special adhesive, etc. (half of the guests will be assigned to make your card, and 2 will allow for the oops factor that stampers may experience from time to time) oInstructions are optional (may want to provide if participants may not follow by just looking at your sample card) oPlace supplies for each of your 20 cards in 20 individual baggies. This is a time saver at the event! When someone sits down to make your card, they just have to grab a baggie and start stamping. It makes it much easier!
Lottery Gift Item: OPTIONAL: Those who choose to participate in this fun swap should note the following instructions: oBring one lottery gift valued at a minimum of $15. The lottery gift can include larger hand-stamped item(s), a basket of stamping supplies, or a mixture of both hand-stamped items and supplies. Suggestions include: decorated paint can, tin, box, card keeper, or other, filled with stamping/craft supplies, yummy treats, hand-made items like decorated frames, coaster, cards, etc., etc. Check out the first page of each section of the new SU Idea Book & Catalog for some great gift ideas! Or contact me if you have questions or need ideas! oEach participant will win a lottery gift brought by another participant (guaranteedto not get your own back). Drawings for the lottery gift items will take place throughout the event. Each person who chooses to participate in this lottery, when their name is drawn, will draw a number that corresponds to one of the lottery gift items. oSuggestion: Create your lottery item with with tender-loving-care! Everyone who participates in this category is a winner!
Charity Raffle: At the event, raffle tickets will be sold to raise money for the NODCC. Anyone who chooses to purchase tickets has many chances to win some great prizes! And you get to choose which items youd like to win with your raffle tickets! Each item will have its own drawing. Last year we had some great prizes (gift certificates, stamps, fine jewelry, gift baskets, hand-made items, etc) this year should be even better!!! Dont miss your chance to win!
What should you bring? Bring a basic stamping supply kit to include: Adhesive (enough to assemble 20 cards), Cutter, Scorer, Paper Snips, Basic Black Ink Pad and any other supplies you just cant live without when you are crafting. Envelopes are not required to be provided for each swap. If you would like to stamp coordinating envelopes, you can bring a stack along.
How long should you stay? As a courtesy to your fellow stampers, please stay until the end of the event! If you finish early, bring a project to work on, bring a book to read, or just chat the rest of the day away. Ill have plenty of card samples to look at too!
What if we dont get 40 registrants? Registration will close on September 20th. If by some chance the 40 spots dont fill, Ill send out a revised email with the number of swaps to prepare. But, lets not let that happentell all of your stamping friends. Stampers of all levels are encouraged to attend! Its a fun event for a great cause!
Questions? Email me at [email protected] or call me at 414-852-3766. I will send out periodic updates before the events with helpful hints to help you prepare.
Here is a picture from the event last year...check out the sign above us! There were 20 last year, but I'm bumping the attendance cutoff to 40 this year so plenty more can join in the fun!!! Hope you can make it! The raffle prizes coming in are SUPER!!
Hi everyone! The registrations are coming in but there are still spots to fill. If you've never attended a shoebox before...they are so worth it! You'll leave with soooo many ideas! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions!!
If everyone who contacted me that they are attending sends in their registration, we have a total of 32 so far which is soooo great! Max is 40 so if you are planning to attend, please send me an email ([email protected]) to let me know you are for sure coming and I'll watch for your registration in the mail!
Registration ends 9/20 or when all 40 spots fill. I would not suggest waiting until 9/20 though because I think it is going to fill before then. Pop me an email if you send in your registration and then I can watch for it in the mail.
Anyone interested in doing some additional swapping at this event?? If you're interested in an Additonal Card, Artist Trading Card, and/ or Anything But A card swaps PM me ASAP! The event is still one month away and there's plenty of time!! I am attending the event and will facilitate all of these swaps because Carri needs her time to run the show!! See you there.
The shoebox is now full...unless anyone cancels before 9/20. I'll now be sending all updates via email...including helpful hints to aid you in prepping your project and more details.....
