MD * Perry Hall/Balto. Area SBS 08/28/10 - FULL at 25 - Waiting list to start
Our next shoebox swap will be on Saturday, August 28, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., at Faith Fellowship Church, 4375 Ebenezer Road, Perry Hall, MD.
Theme for this swap will be masculine or special occasion cards. It seems like we have had an abundance of thank you and friendship cards from the last few swaps, and I'd like to change it up by adding different ideas. So I figured we'd try this out - either bring a swap card that is masculine themed or something for a special occasion other than thank you or friendship - get well, birthday, sympathy, baby, wedding, anniversary, any holidays, thinking of you, or a card that can be used for any type of occasion.
There is room for 25 people (over 18 years of age please) to attend with each person bringing a shoebox swap for 24 people to make and something to share for lunch. There is a $10 non-refundable charge per person for hall rental and expenses which will be due to me prior to the swap. Once you sign up, I'll PM you my address to send your payment to. Everyone who signs up must have a SCS ID to make this fair for everyone attending. All cards are to be full cards. Please bring enough supplies for everyone to make your card including all cardstock, stamps, inks, embellishments, tools, etc., along with your own adhesive and scissors to use on all the projects we make. Please make sure all of your supplies are labeled with either your name or initials, so we all go home with the stuff we brought. We'd like each person to have a sample and typed instructions in their box telling how to make your card, and also have their swaps in baggies or envelopes containing everything each person needs to do your card. This really helps make the swap go more smoothly.
All cards or projects must be made using Stampin' Up stamps, cardstock, inks, etc. Stamps and colors can either be current or retired.
Please bring something to share for lunch. When you sign up for the swap, please post what youll bring for lunch. We do not have use of an oven, so please do not bring anything to be baked or that needs to be heated up. Crock pots are welcome. There is a refrigerator we can use. There will be several door prizes throughout the day. And we will also be doing the card ministry drawings again, so feel free to bring your cards to donate. These can be old swap cards, card fronts, or even one of the cards you are doing for the swap. You girls truly are a blessing helping me keep the card rack stocked. At the March swap, I collected over 200 cards thank you so much!! I am also going to use some of the cards you all donate to send to Operation Write Home - they send handstamped cards to soldiers overseas for them in turn to send back home to loved ones.
To sum up what youll need to bring shoebox swap (no theme), something to share for lunch, your adhesive/scissors/etc. to make the swaps, and cards for the card ministry/Operation Write Home if you'd like to donate any.
Cindy, I will bring a CAKE! Sign me up.........Sara is out of town so I can't tell you about her. I am thinking she mentioned being booked up for the next month.....

Hi Janet, not sure if anyone lives down that way or not. I know Mary Bernard lives kinda down that route I believe, but not sure if she's coming to the swap.
Cindy - I'm sorry to have to miss this one, but I'll be moving Laura into her dorm for fall semester that day. And I could really use some masculine card ideas - the first swap of yours I ever came to several years ago was all about masculine cards! Have fun, everyone Cathy

Cindy,
I use some non-su punchs/border punches and embellishments (ribbon, brads, etc.). I also use DP I like that is non-su. Please let me know if this is ok.

Janet
Punches and embellishments that SU doesn't sell are fine to use. We all do that - some even use Cuttlebug and Sizzix items.
It's pretty easy. You must use Stampin Up Paper, DP, Stamps. If you have a punch that isn't SU, it is okay. Ribbon that's good quality? Okay. At least, I think that's how it works. Hope it helps.

What is "DP" and all paper or just the cardstock for the base of the card? Sorry for the million questions, but I'm not sure that I have enough SU products to come up with 30 kits, that is why I am asking. I have enough SU stamps, ink; some punches and some cardstock; but no paper and not enough ribbon.
I have never been to one of Cindy's Swaps before so she will have to tell you whether using Non SU! paper and DP is accptable.
I actually only use SU! cardstock so that isn't an issue for mine, but my DP is from all over. the only non SU CS is my Georgia Pacific 110 that I use for the image.
you do NOT have to have all 30 kits be identical.. if you only have enough to make 15 of one color and 15 of another that's fine. it is usually not that hard to have the image and layout the same jsut use different color layers.
In fact I don't think I have ever made a swap kit that was exactly identical for every one.. my most recent one used 2 or 3 different DPs for the one layer.
