I have recently moved to Hoffman Estates, IL from Chicago. I am lonely for some creativity. I would like to find people interested in SWAPing cards, objects just about anything with me. Maybe start a SWAP club ??? I'm also looking for SU, Close to my heart and any other stamp demo in my area.
I have already scouted my local craft stores and joined all their classes but no one has an interest in being creative outside of class.
On a sad note :( When I first moved into my new home I had expected to be surrounded by "new neighbor" and "welcome to the neighborhood" cards but they never arrived. I knew then that it was going to be tough. I have alot of work to do to break our neighbors in.. but it's going to be fun... I have created cards introducing us to our neighbors and once the holiday's roll by they will also have a special card for each holiday in their mailbox.
I wonder if they think I am weird? Well, C'est la vie
I just moved to Canada from Wheaton, IL! If I was still in Wheaton I'd be happy to get together! :( I'm sorry that you are having a hard time getting in touch w/ neighbors... I know what you mean! I moved to a new country, and have met very few people so far. They don't do the "Welcome Wagon" thing anymore, like they used to years ago! Or, maybe I just keep moving to towns that are too big for something like that!
I'd say, find a local Archiver's store (can't think offhand of the one closest to Hoffman Estates, there may be one in Schaumburg) and start networking there! That's one store that always has someone in it! Just strike up a conversation!
Good luck!
Jen

My name is Jodi and I live in Mundelein. I am a teacher and SU Demonstrator (More of a hobby demo, but do a bit here and there). Welcome to the neighborhood (kinda). I would love for you to come to any of my events. If you would like, I can email you information. Please feel free to get in touch with me. I don't work in the summer and have more free time on my hands then.
Thank You for offering.. What I also did is go onto the SU website and find a demo near my area and found someone in Mt Prospect,IL. I have made new friends going to her classes -- I see potential ;)...
I'm down in North Aurora, but there is a scrapbook/stamp store, Creative Scrapbooks and More, on the corner of 58 (Golf Rd) and Barrington in the same strip mall as Dominick's. There is an Archiver's in Bloomingdale by Stratford Square Mall. Happy shopping!
I live in Elgin, IL which borders Hoffman Estates! I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and currently a stay-at-home dog mom. I wish I had read your post sooner as I just had a new catalog open house on August 20th. I'm in the process of planning my fall classes, stamp clubs and open stamping nights (sorry I don't have dates yet). I also have a weekly e-mail newsletter with tips and techniques which you might be interested in.
Hi and Welcome!!! I live near you in ELk Grove Village. I am the one who usually has the Illinois SCS Get Togethers. So, if you would like to be on the list and get emails about events...usually we try to get together once a quarter and stamp for the day....please pm me with your email address. There are Illinois gals all around you, both demos (like me) and customers who come to this event. Hope you can come and join in on the fun!!
I do know an SU demo that lives in Hoffman Estates. We sometimes get together and stamp for an afternoon.
HOpe this helps and glad you are in the neighborhood!!
