Awesome! Even though I don't live in Knoxville, but I try to keep up with what's going on there, because I am a Knoxville girl too!
Ok, other Knoxville Girls, who are you?

"How do you stamp with a cat sprawled across your table?"
There is a group that meets once a month in Seymour. It does service projects for nursing homes, etc, by making cards, prizes, etc. using paper and cardstock, and stamping or other tecniques. It is called G.A.S. No selling, just creating, and fellowship, sharing new ideas. Next meeting will be Monday August 4, at 11:45 a.m. If you are interested , pm me OR post here, I will give you directions. Everyone welcome!
Hi Bobbye! I have pm'd you, but also I have pm'd a few others that I've seen on here looking for East Tennessee events. I am waiting for people to write in. I just sent out pm's last night. Hope to hear from you gals - I am enthusiastically waiting.
The group I have mentioned has been meeting since April of this year and have done quite a few projects. It is a relaxed, fun-loving group and we welcome anyone! We meet for a snack lunch, then get right to work on projects- service projects for nursing homes, a hospitality house, assisted living homes, and service personelle, and anything else we can think of!
I'm sure there are other groups around here - please let everybody know what's happening. Thanks! Jo
Registration starts 8/11 and they have begun listing thier classes. Last year there were Stampin Up classes and other stamp classes as well as cardmaking and scrapbooking classes. There's a vendor mall and a crop as well. It's a 2 day event. I am DEFINITELY going to be there both days this year.
Hi everyone...I'm Teresa in Maryville. I planning to become a Dem in Sep or Oct. I love love love stamping. Actually I'm addicted. I hear a lot about the Oak Ridge Event and hope I can attend this year. I've never been to any type of event other than my monthly Stampn' Up Card Club. I'm also want to find out more about the Seymore group. That sound like a lot fun.
Jo, send me pm with more details. I don't know if I can come this Monday, but I certainly want to join.
I just check out the Magic Memories site. The event is Sep 26-27 and I won't be able to go. I will be in Atlanta for the Women of Faith Conference. the Womens Ministry at church always attend this event and also Women of Joy in Gatlinburg in March. Maybe next year they won't fall on the same week-end.
Teresa
Thanks for giving us the link to the Oak Ridge affair! Sounds like great fun! What exactly do people do at a crop party? What do you bring, is there projects provided, or what? I've never been to one! Thanks, Jo

It is mostly for scrapbooking. A crop is where several people get together and scrapbook. Usually for serveral hours and sometimes all night. You would take all your sraping tools, pictures, and anything you think you would use for scrabooking. At the Oak Ridge Event there will be classes on new techniques and they will have a few card classes. Hope this helped.

Take whatever papercrafting project appeals to you. I am thinking of taking my christmas cards and working on them. Last year I took a rolling tote and 2 additional totes and thought I was taking alot. BOY WAS I MISTAKEN! There were people I swear brought thier entire craft room. One lady had her whole table area lined with those sterlite 3 drawer containers and tons of stuff under the table. I went to 2 card classes and 2 scrapbook classes this year. There are tons of door prizes given away. There will be some make and takes with the vendors as well. Alot of vendors have sales the last night too. If you sale it you don't have to cart it home.
Yes, I have seen how much stuff some gals cart around - and sometimes I do too. I don't know if I can make the OR one yet, but sometime (hopefully sooner than later) we can get a shoebox swap up for Knoxville!
The event in Oak Ridge should be a lot of fun. I went to the Keepsakes Scrapbooking convention in Nashville last year and it was loads of fun. I bought way too much while I was there. There is a simliar event in Chattanooga in October that I'm planning to attend. I wiil keep checking this thread and pass along anything that I know of. Also I will let my SU demo know that this thread exist she is on this site all the time.

There are new projects each month. We meet at for a "snack" lunch at 11:45 a.m. at Seymour Heights Christian Church (upper level, near office) on Boyds Creek Highway. Everyone welcome, bring your tools and glue! Next meeting this Monday, August 4. More info? pm me or post here. Jo
Hi Judi! Welcome to the thread! guess you saw the announcement abut the meeting Monday. This group is NVR, this particular project all materials will be furnished, all participants may keep one for themselves, all the others made will be donated. C'mon over, bring a snack to share, and get to know us - a real fun group. Lots of laughs and stamping too! What more could you ask?
Jo
sorry, Knoxville Girls - I haven't been around for a while, my Mom is in the hospital, but the thread must go on! Still on the lookout for who wants to be invited to a shoebox swap! Jo
I did see your gathering on Monday, but I work Downtown and can't make it back to Seymour to participate...especially with the price of gas these days! Anything going on on a Saturday?
Hi everybody! Have been out-of-town, but I'm back now. The GAS group I told you about will be meeting again September 8 at 11:45 a.m. Free and open to all. Bring 12 x 12 cardstock and a bag of starlight mints (any color) - we have a new project to work on, or you can do your own thing! PM me for directions to meeting. (Seymour area)
Hey Ladies! It's time for the Oak Ridge Magic Memories Event again. Sept 18-19. Registration is open thru Friday 9/11 so get those registrations in. The projects and classes look awesome again this year.
Yeah, I think it would be good to get a few people together to go over to the vendor fair. It is free and open to the public from 9am til 6pm both days.
Thanks so much for the info on Oak Ridge will check it out. We just found out that the Great Scrapbooking Convention in Chattanooga had been cancelled. We are looking for a replacement and Oak Ridge may fit. We wish we could find a convention in ET. We have a lot of scrapbookers here. Knoxville would be an idea place.
I live in South Knoxville. I have went to the oak ridge event for the past 2 years and am excited to attend this weekend. The vendor fair is awesome. They offer some great deals around closing time on saturday too. The crop is great fun. Some of the vendors off free make and takes and last year there was a vendor that did make and take double layout 12 x 12 pages for like $5. It was so worth it. The classes are awesome. I just can't say enough about this event. Especially since it's so close to home. Oh and if you sign up for a crop you get an awesome goodie bag.
How funny that the Chattanooga event was cancelled. They changed the oak ridge show event to a different weekend this year (usually the last weekend in sept) due to this.
