OK, Ladies! We are officially closed. We are at 22 attendees, so we will need 22 card kits in our shoebox. Let me know if you have any questions.
Looking forward to meeting all of you and getting my kits ready now!

I have my design finalized and all my materials just need to fill those baggies. I can't wait this is my first shoebox event. I noticed on the first posting it mentioned swappingfand selling stamps... I know this is a long shot but I am a fairly new SU person and really love the Christmas Cardinal if anyone has it and would like to sell it I would love to buy.

Roads in Muscatine
Right now, the roads in Muscatine are completely clear. All highways are in great shape and even the side roads are clear. The church is only about 1/2 mile off of the main Highway 61 bypass, so travel should be good at this point.
We just need to pray that there is NO MORE SNOW OR ICE!!!!

Well sure wish I lived there. In Camanche the side roads are rutted ice sheets. You can easily get stuck or puncture something important on the juts sticking up. We are supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow today but maybe it will miss you. Sounds like your street crew is great

This was my first shoebox swap and I agree with Jeanette ... the day was fabulous. Deb did such a wonderful job of organizing and the food was great. I got to meet such a wonderful group of friendly people.
When I got home I looked over all the cards I had made in just one day. It was unbelievable they were all so different but such great cards. Thank you Deb for a wonderful time and I hope you make this an annual event I can't wait to do it again.

A GREAT BIG THANKS to Deb for organizing such a fantastic shoebox swap. I had a great time, all the cards were fantastic and the food was perfect! It was so nice meeting and visiting with everyone. I've been to other swaps and this one was the best! I can't wait til we do it again! I'll drive across the state of Iowa again to meet up with everyone. Rosowskimom and I got home at 10:00 pm, safe and sound. Thanks everyone for the great card designs and ideas. Thanks Deb for the great shoebox swap and keep us on the mailing list for future get-togethers!

I am so glad everyone had a good time! Mandy & I had a lot of fun organizing this swap and we loved meeting everyone. The cards were absolutely fantastic. I'm anxious to show them off at work tomorrow.
And now for the recipes!
Gourmet Salad
2 heads of variety lettuce - I use Romaine and the purple leafy one
1 bunch diced green onions
1 cup slivered almonds
1 cup chopped pecans
2 pkgs. ramen chicken noodles; crushed
1 cup sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup cider vinegar
Mix lettuce, onions, nuts and noodles. Set aside. Mix the seasoning packets from the ramen noodles with sugar, vegetable oil, and cider vinegar. Shake or mix till sugar dissolves. Right before seving toss dressing with salad.
Green Fluff Salad
1 can crushed pineapple - drained very well
1 pkg. cool whip
1 pkg. jello
1 carton cottage cheese
Mix well and refrigerate. I used sugar free jello, sugar free cool whip and 1% cottage cheese to make it healthier.
Peanut Butter Fritos
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. white corn syrup
Heat till sugar dissolves
Add 1/2 c. peanut butter
Mix till smooth and drizzle over Scoops Fritos. Let set up and enjoy!
Chocolate Sheet Cake
1 stick butter
1/2 cup shortening
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
Frosting
1 stick butter
1 box powdered sugar
6 tablespoons milk
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix in sauce pan butter, shortening, cocoa and water. Bring to a boil and stir constantly. Remove and stir in sugar and flour. Add in order; buttermilk, soda and vanilla stirring after each. Last of all add beaten eggs. This makes a very thin batter. Grease cooke sheet pan (11x15) and bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Mix frosting and frost cake while warm.

Hi Ladies
I also wanted to take a minute to say Thank you to Deb and Mandy for such a wonderful job that they did. I really enjoyed myself. I am planning on another shoebox swap in late April or early May. Just PM and let me know if something doesn't work for you. I can't wait to do another one!
Talk to you gals soon.

I can only say DITTO to everything already said! Since I'm Debbie's sister I would like to take credit for her & Mandy knowing what to do (heh heh), but as Deb would like to point out, I'm her MUCH older sister!!
All kidding aside, Deb & Mandy did do a super job and I just loved being there with everyone (especially Jane who followed me & was very patient!). Every card was beautiful & I learned something new. I'll come back from Indiana to be with all of you again!! Way to go Melon City Mayhem!!! Diane...

I made the PB Fritos on Monday, yum, almost all gone. Couldn't get my grandkids to try them, they don't know what they are missing! I had a great time!! Unfortunately the trip was too much for my van, he's 9 years old and seemed to be doing alright. He was resting up from the trip in the garage just fine. I took him out for a spin and put him back to bed around 8pm Monday. At 10pm I noticed he'd had an accident and soiled the garage floor.......he went to the hospital and will have surgery tomorrow to replace his gaskets and his rod arm (or something like that). He will come home but will be on a liquid diet........he should be up and ready to roll......by the next get-together.......
