Central New York IKEA road trip...Utica, Syracuse and Binghamton
Anyone up for an IKEA road trip????
We are planning an IKEA road trip to Conshohocken, PA on Saturday, July 28th. We have chartered a coach bus (imaginationcoach.com) down to the IKEA (ikea.com) there....there is room for 57 passengers on the bus, with overhead storage such as you would find in an airplane, and tons of underneath storage for those bulky items. Here is the basic itinerary of the day: *Pick up in Utica NY at the old Nichol's parking lot in Marcy at 5:30 am *Pick up in Syracuse NY in front of the Christmas Tree Shop in the Mattydale Plaza at 6:30 am *Final pick up in Binghamton NY in the parking lot between the Regal Cinemas and the Cracker Barrel restaurant at 7:30 am We will stop for a quick coffee break on the way down, though there is a bathroom on the bus. And arrive at IKEA ( www.ikea.com ) at 10:30 am. We will shop to our hearts content until 1:30 pm, and then drive over to The Cheesecake Factory ( www.thecheesecakefactory.com ) for lunch. At about 2:30 we will head over to Franklin Mills ( www.franklinmills.com ) for another shopping spree...we will meet around 5:00 and head back to New York, stopping in Binghamton, Syracuse, and finally Utica. We should hit Utica, somewhere near 11:00 pm. The bus is owned and driven by my brother (and maybe me too:mrgreen: ), and is in excellent condition...you won't be disappointed!!!so our final info can be summed up: Where: IKEA...Conshocken, PA When: Saturday July 28th How much?: $45 per person please make checks payable to: Imagination Coach Lines ( www.imaginationcoachlines.com ) and send them to myself (I work for my brother and will be collecting the money for him) : Kirstin Abbe 1021 Tabor Place Utica, NY 13502 Please include with your check, your name, SCS username, and which location you will be boarding the bus. I will add your name as soon as payment is received. First come, first serve. I can't wait to get together with all of my Central NY friends again, and maybe make some new ones as well.

Wow, this sounds like a VERY fun excursion! I live in IL so clearly won't be joining you but I had to reply to the post because I just got home last night from a "road trip" to the Ikea in Schaumburg, IL. My friend and I drove up on Tuesday to my sister's house (it's about 4.5 hrs to my sister's house in Aurora) then we joined up with my friend's oldest daughter at the Ikea and spent about 5 hours there shopping until we figured we couldn't fit anything else in the car and still be able to get my sister back to her house. I bought 10 barstools (at $12.99 each! they will go in my stamp room around the table so my stampers can sit and stamp in comfort)and a bunch of other stuff. Thank goodness the boxes are quite compact and it all fit easily into my friend's SUV with plenty of room for the people to get in as well.
Hope that you guys have loads of fun....I know that if I'd had an entire bus for storage and transport my budget would be been in serious trouble! Jan

This sounds like a blast! What do you think about people coming that aren't on SCS? You know if I wanted a friend or two to join me?
i know that crabbeabbe started the thread, but i am her sister, and this is not just a scs thing it is for any and all who want to come.... the more the merrier!!!!!
Gayla had a great suggestion...print out the items you want to get and put them in your calendar so you have 'em when we go. (Now I just have to do this.)
