Default Central Florida Shoebox Swap...Stampin' in the South

CANCELLED

Come on y'all ~ see just how much fun we have down in the south!

Saturday, April 12, 2008
Suntree/Viera Library (phone 321-255-4404)
Meeting Room
902 Jordan Blass Boulevard
Melbourne, FL 32940
10am-4:45pm
Please provide snack/beverage to share. We have access to a mini-kitchen with a refrigerator. We have a plethora of options in the area for a quick (or not so quick) bite to eat for lunch.

Deadline for Registration: April 1, 2008
Maximum Participants: 25 (Register early...waiting list will be started if necessary)

Participants
1. Laene (stampinguru)
2. Robin (RJP111)
3. Toka (Kevinsgirl)
4. Gwen (tturtle)
Procedures
Shoe box Swap
• Design a full card or 3-D item, and make 2 samples. Please try to use only SU products and "current" SU stamps. If you are unable to do this, it's okay but we love to show our creations to our customers and can't show cards that have been made with other company products.
• Put together a list of instructions to make it.
• Precut enough supplies to make your item for each person and place materials in a baggie. (If there are 10 people make 10 baggies of supplies). Include the directions in each baggie, just in case there isn’t enough time for a person to make your item at the actual swap meet. Baggies should include pre-cut cardstock and embellishments.
• Place the rest of your items (stamps, ink, punches, markers, WWC, pencils, etc.) and the baggies into a shoe box. All individual items in your shoebox should be labeled with your name.
• When the shoebox starts, Each person will set up their stuff at a station and then everybody rotates around the room and makes each project. You can go at your own pace that way.
• Please bring your own adhesive, scissors and bone folder. If your card requires special adhesive such as glue dots, please include that in your shoebox.

What to Bring
• Bring enough supplies for each participant plus two extra sets to be used for parts when people mess up. You may also want to bring your camera. Just in case you don’t have enough time to make all of the projects, you can snap a picture of the sample so you may complete it at home. You’ll also want to take pictures of all of your SCS sistahs!
• Your address book so you can add all your new friends’ names, phone numbers, and email addresses!
• Bring your own adhesive, scissors and bone folder. Label these since they will be moving around.
• A snack/beverage to share with your “sistahs”

Other Important Tips
• This is for adults only, so please register only if you’re 18 or older. Please make other arrangements for children.
• We’ll provide name tags, but if you have one from a previous SCS or convention event, feel free to bring it.
• Feel free to bring your ‘Garage Sale" items for trade (or sale, if it is a retired item) with other attendees.
• Make sure to bring enough for each person to make your swap item. We will have a final count a week or so before the event.
• Bring everything needed for the card; stamps, ink, embellishments, hole punches, cutting tools, scrub & mist...etc. Label everything with your name! Each person should bring her own basic adhesive to carry around from station to station.
• It goes without saying (or this case saying), please bring your best work.

Optional 3D Swap
We will also have an optional 3D swap. If you would like to participate, let me know and just show up with a prepared 3D item of your choice to swap with the attendees. Examples of 3D items could be coasters, candles, dominoes, accordion books, coaster albums, magnetic bookmarks, glass bead magnets, etc. Again, try to only use Stampin’ Up! materials. After the registration deadline check back on this thread to see how many 3D swap participants we have, and therefore how many swaps you’ll need to prepare. If you have any questions about the 3D swap, feel free to post on this link so I can answer it.
Save the Date! April 12, 2008...Central Florida Shoebox Swap

I plan of coming from Mount Dora. I would like to teach how to make Flipbook Albums. Let me know if there is interest and I can let you know the supplies needed or can make kits. Check my blog for the last Shoebox Swap photos and the Flipbook Album.

Oh yeah, Vivian! I'm definitely interested in flipbook albums!

Are you going to bring some more of your creations for us to drool over? (figuratively, of course ;) )

Of coarse I will bring my new card samples. I love to stamp and share how to make better cards. I am always learning something new.

After our last get together, I bought a cop-a-dile! For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to set eyelets, so DH played with it for a bit then showed me how!

I haven't given much thought to my card for this swap. I want to come up with something with more "oomph" than my last one, though. I've pretty much decided which set I'm going to use, so I guess I should be stalking the gallery for ideas.

I found a card in the gallery that I fell in love with and am going to CASE for this swap. Now, I just have to start gathering supplies so it's a good thing I have a hostess club meeting next week - gotta place my order!

I keep thinking about how to change the card I'm CASE'ing. I've been thinking about using vellum, but the tape shows through to the front side. I'll have to make a sample to see if brads in the corners will look ok.

IIRC, though, WalMart sells vellum tape that isn't supposed to show through. Has anyone tried that stuff? If so, does it show?

I made a sample card this morning and realized that vellum won't work. So, that takes care of the "showing tape" dilemna! lol

I ordered my cardstock and inkpad last night. It won't be long and then I'll be making my kits.

Anyone else planning on coming? I know there a LOT of stampers in the Central Florida area.

I am going to have to cancel coming to the Shoe Box Swap this time. I have been a very busy lady and have recently recruited 5 ladies for the SU special Starter kit offer. One of my gals has recruited her friend so now I have 6 downline to train and answer all of their questions. Wow!!! It's hard to believe that I could do so well.

I also stared a Stampers Club that meets in Mount Dora Library on the second Saturday of the month. This is the only date I could get so the April 12th date is the same day as your swap. Since three member of my downline are within driving distance I will be teach the Flip Book Album on April 12th in Mount Dora. You are more than welcome to join and I will see if your next date is something I can attend. I posted the card and projects we made at the March 8 Stamp Club meeting on my blog Florida Stampin' with Vivian - http://http://www.stampinup.net/esui...e/vivianswain/

That's kind of you Vivian. I wondered if you were going to be able to make the April 12th date in Melbourne since it is the same Saturday as your monthly club.

Congrats on all the new downlines!

Red face Double Booked!

Since I am one of Vivian's downline, I need to back out of the Melbourne swap set for April 12. :( I wish I could be in two places at once, but it was really too far for me to drive to Melbourne by myself. Ya'll have a great time!

Red face Please Update

Please take my name off the list, Vivian's, too. We'll both be in Mt. Dora on April 12.

Thanks.

It looks like we're down to four people for this get together. :(

I asked my mom if she wanted to come but I dont' expect she will. She lives in Orlando and doesn't like to drive so I highly doubt she'll drive over by herself.

It occurred to me the other day that I didn't type up the directions for my cards! Fortunately it didn't take long to do that.

We're down to two weeks and counting. There's still time to join!

Tuesday evening bump ...

I know there are a lot of stampers in this area. It's not too late to sign up and you still have almost two weeks to get your kits ready.
