Okay first of all it's like FOREVER away in procrastinator terms. Tell your sister talk to me the morning of, baby!! Wasting precious time planning - what must THAT be like??

I sent a note to my A-town peeps this morning.

I'm so super excited about this. I will say I have my door prizey goodness somewhat conceptualized, AND the Fan Club membership fairy might come if there are some non Fan Club members attending..

HAHAHAHA - ok now THAT is crazy. I'll be busy kitting the night before!

I am drawing a complete blank on the doorprize, as usual. I may have to just cook something instead of stamp something!!

You are hilarious!!! But I already know that from your blog. Will be fun to meet you, but I'll have to watch out for you if Libby makes the spaghetti thing. Thanks for the heads up!

Libby, you bringin' the spaghetti dish for the door prize? Sounds like it will be popular if you do.

Hi Tina - it's an entree. A very cheesy gooey spicy yummy entree, LOL! I entered a contest last month at Whole Foods here in Austin - a Hatch Chile cookoff - and my recipe won! Yay! So this is what Lydia was talking about. Here's the blog link, if you're at all curious.

why can't I make it a simple card? Every year I try and last year I did much better. This year is rediculous, way too many parts. My CB is getting a real workout

I haven't even started. I have no time. On Friday, I got an email from my professor telling me that something was due on Sept 25------I had it written down as Oct. 25!!!!! So I pulled an allnighter and got it done. I have another paper due tomorrow. Designing my card will just have to wait until tomorrow night. I am so bushed right now. Ever feel like you can't catch your breath? That's how I feel right now.

WOO HOO! Finished and sent my paper to the professor this afternoon. I never imagined how tiring it would be to read and write about 15 children's books. Now I can concentrate on my card. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces. I will not use too many pieces.

It must be snowing or raining pigs because I designed my card in 20 minutes! THAT has never happened before. AND I did not use too many pieces. I am glowing with pride right now.

Way to go Brenda! There is nothing like getting a paper turned in--kinda like getting rid of a booger.

I was originally going to donate a set of cards from the August 21 swap, but that event has been cancelled.

Let me know if this is something we can do for the hospice facility.

In case there are any new stamp swappers in the group, here is a list of things to remember to bring with you:

Scissors, both ribbon cutting and fine detail paper scissors
tape, glue, any favorite adhesive
Bone folder
pencil
stamp cleaner
Paper piercer, tweezers
quick stick or paper picker upper of your choice
adhesive remover
files or sanding block

any tool you can't stamp at home without.

You will want to carry them with you to each station. I always have a ton of extra adhessive just in case. I can't stamp without my cutterbee tweezers either. You never know what tool will make your life easier.

Try to label everything so if you leave it sitting at a station , you can go back and find it later.

It helps if you have directions for your card at your station. If it is a hard card then you might want to print up some directions for those of us(like me) that get nervous and take the card home to make it later. I usually come home with atleast 3 or 4 cards I didn't want to mess up trying to hurry. I am a slow stamper and know that I can't be the only one out there with that problem LOL.

If anyone else has a tool or tip post it here and help us out

Hi Ladies. Reading Karen's menu literally made me hungry. I will go to bed dreaming of biscuits, pulled pork and spaghetti - yum, yumm, yummy.

Two weeks ago today I had my gall bladder removed so I am very hopeful that my body will cooperate and allow me a whole day of sitting, eating and crafting.

I also need to make my nametag (thanks for the reminder, Karen!)
I can't wait for the swap!!!

Looking forward to a fun weekend!

For those of you arriving Friday evening, check-in time is at 5:00pm. My husband will be helping everyone unload between 5pm-6pm. Dinner (for those of you staying for dinner) will be served at 7pm.

NOTE TO BRENDA: Can you send me the email addresses of everyone attending the swap this weekend? I have more retreat/swap details that are too lengthy to post on the board.

Thanks!

Whooptiy! Flippin'! Do! Folks......I'm actually done BEFORE the night before! Brenda-girl, you and I are in the same boat with school work. I'm still not finished and have one chapter to go! Everything is due by midnight on Saturday and I refused to lug a laptop with me, so it has to be finished tonight (or tomorrow before Tina comes to pick me up). The rub? I have a 4-1/2 hour class tonight that I actually have to go sit in (lecture and lab).

Does anyone here feel sorry for me??? Please show me some love!

I was divorced in 1997 and graduated with my BA Magna *** Laude in 2001 working full time, juggling 12-15 hours a semester and trying to be a single Mom. I finished my Masters in 2005. I remember those days, the abundance of caffeine and unfortunately nicotine to keep me going.

Whew, I feel for ya. There were times nothing was fun about school but the end of a semester! : )

Is there a rule on whether the cards need an embellishment and what type?

Mary, I think it is stated in the FAQ which is located on post #1. If I recall correctly, you need to have at least one embellishment. An embellishment can be ribbon, brads, buttons, bling, diamond dust, etc. Just something to give your card that extra zing!
