Updated the 1st post with swap numbers. Also took out the part about bringing a snack to share. Since space is limited, a few of us will be bringing in snacks for the group.

Last night I started my swaps for the 52 swaps we need. It's too bad my "good" friend Lorien didn't think they were my best work!!! But my "better" friend LorieR thought they were great!

I thought I would get a ton of them done and all I got done was 8! This is going to be a slow process!

BTW, Lorien even though you crushed my spirit, I still love our stamping time together!

We're each making 13-14 of them, because we're breaking it down into 4 groups. But I'm prepping for 15 people just in case.

Sorry Lady! I just know you can do all those fancy cards and probably cause I had seen it before too. You know I wanted something fresh and new and exciting.

Last night was not a good stamping night.

I couldn't figure that out either. But she might have been going for *sobs* or saying "Oh Bull S**t". I think she was sobbing.

FYI: I FINALLY got a picture of me for my avatar! I know you all enjoyed seeing my 3 little boys, but I know I like seeing what my SCS friends look like. Anyway, there I am...at a Red Sox game!

I'm getting revved up for our get together! I figured out what I'm going to do for my swap, but probably won't start making them until after Valentine's Day--I'm a work-better-under-pressure kind of girl.

Have a super day!

So the final number for the swap is 52, and the shoebox, 15? Thanks Michele and Lorien for clarifying the shoebox swap on page 18. I've only done a shoebox once (what I assumed was a shoebox) so now I'm set. Now to get cookin'...

Oh-- to do the shoeboxes-- we need our own adhesive and scissors...anything else?

Patty-- I'm sending a package your way-- thanks for all of your hard work getting ready!!!

Updating the prize list

I just want to say thanks again to everyone that's donated something - I know a couple of people have PM'd me to say that a donation was on the way. After that I think we're all set on donations! I certainly won't turn anything away, but between what's been donated and what the CO's have purchased I think we're set!!!

Now get to work on those swaps!

If you notice your name in the #2 post is highlighted "royal blue" it only means that you're not planning to do the Shoebox swap. I've been asked it there was anything planned for the folks who are not doing the SBS - I'm working on something but I don't have my mine completely wrapped around it yet. I'll PM those of you this concerns when I've got the details worked out - 'kay?

What are you cooking up woman?

Could we have them sing and dance as entertainment while we shoebox?

Whew! Glad both of you thought it was a bad stamping night too! I brought my stuff in Friday night and haven't glanced at it since. I couldn't make anything worth sharing and I'm afraid to take a second look! I was embarrassed of what I came up with. Maybe I'll take a peek and see if it really was that bad. Sometimes things look different after you've walked away for a bit. I'll do Crystal's Sharpay thing and see if it works for me too!

Default Identity confusion?!

FYI: I am no longer "escapingw/stamps", but am now "hillmangirl". I had to get my SCS name changed because the backslash stopped me from uploading images into my gallery.

OK, I got a question!

Do you think everyone is ok with a masculine sympathy card for a swap?
I keep debating over it. I could use some opinions on this.

I agree with Pattyb and vz5dzh, but if you want more input, try posting on the Michigan Minglers thread here - more chatterers there than here.

Gosh I hope so-cause that's kind of what my shoebox swap is going
to be. My thinking was- that it's always nice to have a *neutral* sympathy
card on hand-just in case.

Hi everyone...

Just happened across this thread from Jen's siggy... where have I been that I missed this! I am so bummed...

Is there anywhere to go to make sure I don't miss Michigan events again? A specific thread to subscribe to? I admit I haven't read through all 20 pages of the thread...

Have a GREAT time everyone... and I'll see you all next year for sure!

I don't know if you have subscribed to the Michigan Chatting site yet, but if not I would say that is a good place to get info. This was started through this event, so I think future events will be announced on there.

Any idea of what area you are targeting so we can start suggesting/brainstorming some venues?

With a larger venue, we may have to book sooner rather than later...

I agree, and I'm thinking we may want to aim for April instead of March, I know the iffy weather throws some folks off!

A lot of people seemed to think that the Lansing/Okemos area was more centrally located (not for me and I find Lansing a very unfriendly town to drive in) I think in the end it's easier to pick a place and go from there

In April we'll need to be cognizant of when Easter falls...this year it just seems so odd to have Easter at the end of March.

I'm looking at an 1.5 hour drive to either location -- though last time I was in Lansing, I did find the streets very confusing.

However, I don't know if there's a bigger venue in the Birch Run area without getting into Frankenmuth which then gets pricey b/c its so commercialized/touristy.

I'll start keeping my eyes/ears open for anything in either area as well as inbetween

Someone mentioned booking the Birch Run Expo center this year and I thought they were nuts. I had no idea we would have so many interested. I looked a little and they have like conference rooms so that may actually be an option. I got scared looking at their site cause they had all this info about insurance and things way out of my league.

ETA: BUT Tracy organizes big events in real life, don't ya Tracy? So you can call them about next year.
