I am fainting over 52 swaps. *falls over* But I do want them to be full cards no matter how many we do.

I would like the shoebox ones to be 4 groups. It is going to take a good chunk of time to do those. dont you think?

I would like to see full cards for the card swap. Are we putting our ingredients on the back or not? I don't care either way, but don't want to do it if not needed.

I would rather see 4 groups for the shoebox swap. I think it will take some time for these, esp if we do non-card items. I loved doing the non-card items last year, so I've got to wrack my brain to figure out if I can come up with something.

I think 4 groups would make it easier to get everything done.

I would like full cards for the swap. I think that 4 groups for the shoebox
will be better. I think that with 3 groups it will take a lot more time, but I will go with the majority.

I planned on doing a swap for everyone, so iam ok with that. I'm used to doing cardfronts only, but I have no problem doing full cards. I like the idea of 4 groups for the shoebox.

I pretty much agree with everyone. I think 4 groups for the swap would be great. Also, I agree that full cards are good for the big swap, and 52 is no problem. (Guess I better get my thinking cap on! )

Can't wait to meet everyone!

I agree with what I've been reading so far about the swaps... 52 full cards and four groups for the SBS. But I will go along with what everyone else is doing.

Thanks again to all the coordinators... I can only imagine how much work it is organizing this whole thing. I'm also looking forward to starting the SS... thanks, Rachel, for doing that!

Have a great day everyone!

With 52 swaps I'd rather do fronts because if I want to use those for cards later on I just mount my fronts on a card base, but it appears that everyone else would prefer full cards...

I agree with the 4 groups for the Shoe Box Swap...

Thanks Patty!

I'd never thought of doing fronts only and mounting onto my own base. I wouldn't mind either way now for the card swap, because it would be quicker to make the cards.

Would love to meet in the middle, we should probably start my 52 or 53 cards first though because I have to be home before dark.

Default Organizing my thoughts....

Hi,
Really looking forward to this event. I am, however, easily confused so just to be clear...

For the card swap I need to make 53 cards, all alike.

For the shoebox swap I assemble all the materials needed to make a project multiple times. If we divide into 4 groups, does it mean I need to make 13 - 14 each of 4 different projects or just make enough pieces to do the same project 53 times and divide those into 4 groups?

Sorry to be so dense, but I've not done anything quite like this before.

Thanks for the help,
JG

For the swap - yes 53 cards, all alike!
For the Shoebox - you would only need to bring enough supplies and pieces for the members in your group - so if we go the four group route, you'd need enough for 14 members of that group. However, I'd probably bring a few extra just to be safe

And don't worry, I've never done anything quite like this before also and I'm coordinating it! Go figure!!!

1. Three groups of 18, 18, & 17
OR
2. Four groups of 13, 13, 13, & 14
Again I'd like to hear from you on preference - PLEASE POST ON THIS THREAD!

Dawn let me understand you - you want to do all 53 shoebox swaps? The reason we're breaking into groups is because we aren't sure that we'll have enough time to do them all, KWIM?

Cheaper for the swap maker to as you use 1/2 as much cardstock making just a front. But of course whatever Patty says goes!

I vote for cardfronts too because it saves me space until I am ready to send the card, I don't use a ton of cardstock in one shot, and sometimes I like to make the cards bigger so it gives me this option. These reasons aside though, I am totally flexible and have no problem with full cards if that is what the majority wants.

I also vote for the four groups for the shoebox swap.

Did I miss anything? Oh yeah, Rachel could you please add me into the secret sister as well? Tanx a million!

I thought you would like that!

And, as for your DEMAND that a card is made using my favorite colors, keep watching my blog..I don't know if I will get one done tomorrow as we are having company but I will do one for you in the next 2 days. I have been busy creating for the CC Designs sneak peeks so I did upload some things on my blog for that. I will plan on doing a card as you requested as soon as I can!

Default DINNER

I just returned from Frankenmuth. I had dinner at the Bavarian Inn and Zenders. My entire family (all 27 of us) agreed that the Bavarian Inn overall had better food, atmosphere, and wait staff. Just our opinion. Yes, we ate plenty of chicken & buttered noodles! Oohh! And don't forget the cranberry relish! Very tasty! And have you ever seen the mammoth donuts at Zender's? Holy cow!

We're down to two full months, and I'm SO excited! I know it's early, but if you're wanting to join us for dinner on Saturday, I need to know, please. I need to know if we will need a different size room.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well based on those of you that have responsed in the past week, I guess we'll do this:

Swap = FULL Cards, your choice of supplies/vendors/etc - current count 52

Shoebox = Four groups, you'll have supplies cut and ready for 14/15 people to make whatever project you come up with.

I will be PM'ing everyone with more "deets"

As of right now, this is a basic overall look at what you'll be going home with:

Swaps = 52 cards
Shoebox = 14/15 projects
Challenges = 4 projects

This totals 70 cards/projects!!! Plus we're still not sure what the dirty girls are up to!

Question Suggestion for including "ingredients/recipes" for cards

What about the "ingredients/recipes" on the cards? Jen (Burnham1997)brought this up a few posts ago. Personally, I like the "recipes" b/c it saves me a lot of time if I want to recreate it or a portion of it -- however, being that we are doing full swaps and people will most likely be using these cards and a recipe on the back would be odd.

Might I suggest, that the recipe is still created on one of those Avery labels but instead of putting it on the back of the card, the Avery label "recipe" is stuck to a Post-It note that is then stuck to the inside the card -- so those that want to use the card can do so, and those that want to keep and have the recipe handy can have that too.

Thoughts?

I need to know what the challenges are and are we making cards or something else for the shoebox? I need a little help I have never done either of these before.
Thanks,
Cindy

The challenges haven't been announced yet, but we're working on getting them finalized so we can announce them. You can do a card or non-card item for the shoebox swap. Last year we did a lot of cards, but there was a little box we assembled (looked like an ornament) and we also did a post-it holder out of cardstock.

It's completely up to you as to what you choose for that. Just remember that all items need to be cut and ready for the other stampers to assemble for the shoebox swap. I hope that helps, but please let me know if it doesn't answer everything.

Thoughts?
This sounds great to me!!!!
So include your list of supplies, but don't actually glue/stick it to the card itself.

I like the recipe idea also! It's nice knowing what sets, colors and techniques were used. I also agree that it should not be adhered to the back of the card with anything but a post-it note. I've actually printed paper and cut it up and stick it to the post-it note. That's pretty easy also.

I'm getting excited about this!

Great idea about the recipe going on a sticky note! I can't believe we're nearly 2 months away now. I think time just goes faster and faster as each year rolls on by. I'm so excited about the event! I have my main image stamped for the card swap. I decided to do watercoloring for it though, and I'm beginning to think it was a crazy decision! I'm halfway done with the watercoloring though, so it will seem much easier once I get to the assembly part, right!?!

Hey Jennifer - do you think we should take pity on them and get the challenges posted too?
