Hi!
So I'm seriously thinking about flying down for the show. I can probably get there hotel/transfers/flight for about $500.
For those that have been there before.....can you BUY stuff at the booths from the vendors? Are the prices discounted there? I realize there are some make and takes and classes....but just wondering how awesome it really is.
For the Consumer show, yes, you will be able to purchase from the vendors. The Convention and Trade show, however, there is not supposed to be any sales...it's against the rules. The Convention and Trade show are for wholesalers to see new product and place pre-orders for the new stuff.
I'm assuming that you're talking about the Consumer show on the 31st & 1st. I don't know about any discounts because this is the very first year for the Consumer show. It's all new to everyone.

I saw all the post about the name Deb,Little Debbie, Deborah. Here's something to laugh about Deborah while flying down, at least you did not grow up in school with a name of Neva Jo Hickey. Nickname or Hickey dickey, purple passion, Ni@@er Jo, trickey hickey. I got married 2 weeks after graduating high school just to loose my middle and last name. What was my mother thinking when she married a man with that last name? LOL. She laughed it off by telling everyone she went up north got 2 Hickey's and came back home.
I'm staying at the Crowne Universal with my non-crafting Mum (I really have tried to convert her but she won't be budged). We are having a girls only birthday holiday for nearly 3 weeks (I'm turning 40 and she's just had her 65th)

I would *love* a 3 week birthday holiday. Glad you're going to make it!

I'm thinking I should call my mom... I have stayed at the Peabody before - you'll love it.
My mom, rest her soul, was terrified of flying...but that didn't stop her. Every time she would HAVE to fly somewhere, she would take - I don't know how many Zanex, and 3 or 4 drinks along the way...we would always get her to her destination as we "poured" her out of the plane....lol For a tiny woman of 100 pounds, that woman could drink and still function! HA!
Yay a Deborah, not a Debra!! Do people call you Deb-O or Borah?? Those are the ones I get.
You know, the fear is totally illogical. I like the numbers you gave though, I've not looked up any statistics. I just am a scaredy cat. I follow plane crashes, like the one in Buffalo and the one that left Rio on it's way to Paris. It's amazing to me, but then I think what those people went through. You know, flying along normally and then all the sudden...not. Turbulence makes me a little crazy. Prayerfully, I will make it there and have a wonderful time!
To be honest, I wish we were flying! Haha! My husband has decided to drive us to Orlando so that we can "see the sites". YUCK! I am so not looking forward to the drive from Colorado to Florida! It's about a 36 hour drive nonstop and I guarantee we will be stopping! :(

We'll be driving from NewYork. We had already planned to take a road trip to Florida as a family vacation, and CHA just fits in so nicely.

That's why we are driving too! We actually won 3 free nights in Orlando and we booked them over a year ago BEFORE I knew it would fall on the same weekend as CHA! I can't even tell you how thrilled I was when I discovered it!

Let's see ---- that's $169 per night in hotel that you *saved* hubby... so that means you have... times three... $507 plus estimated taxes - $67.... That's $574 you have to spend at the show, right?
That's how my mind calculates those FREE things. ;) I call it Paper Crafter's Math.

You are so right
Women's minds work so much superior than our husbands when it comes to spending money to save money lol
I'll be there. Quick question...how much shopping can we do there? I've heard that we can buy only from internet based stores like PTI. What about Unity and other stamp companies that sell wholesale? Oh, the discount code didn't work. Is there a something I have to do to apply it?
I know I'll be there with my friend who is setting up her little LSS, Ye Olde Outhouse, and she can sell whatever she wants. She's not an online store although she has a website--there is an actual brick and mortar. I'm teaching classes for her too, but she will have a booth for make and takes and sales.
I can't wait! Finally they are inviting the consumer! Yippee!

I'm so psyched! I just registered and booked our hotel. We're staying at the Nickelodeon Hotel - that way DH can just stay there all day with the kiddos. They had a great deal for FL residents on Expedia.com - I can't wait to meet up with some SCSers! I'll be there both days & I'm really looking forward to it!
I'm new to a lot of this stamping stuff and am wondering if this CHA convention is always scheduled to be in Florida or are there plans for events like this in other areas?
This is the first year that CHA (Craft and Hobby Association) has held their trade show in Florida, and the first year that they have done a consumer show. Normally their trade show/convention are held twice a year with the winter show in Anaheim, California and the summer show in Chicago, so this is new for them. Their trade show/convention is held for people in the trade (store owners, designers, educators, etc.), but the consumer show is open to anyone who wants to attend. You can learn more by visiting www.craftandhobby.org.

Unfortunately, it's not looking good for me this year. My daughter's heading off to college this year and the timing just isn't good for me this time. I'm always open to meeting cool stampers and have high hopes of catching you all next time - think of me though:-(

Well - I understand that. Daughter in college is a good thing. Hope it works out next time.
I would give my right arm to go to the CHA next week, but I live on the border of US and Canada (near Watertown NY) and find it a little daunting to go on my own!!! Is anyone else going from Canada, who may be driving or going by train maybe. Maybe we could start a new thread for carpooling or such like.
I've had my hotel since February (since I heard that CHA was having a consumer show, too) and my tickets since the day the registration started. I can't wait to meet all of the SCS people!!!!
I've also gotten word that I'm going to participate in a focus group. Anyone have any idea what that will entail?

I'm leaving in a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I share your excitement! I remember that focus group thing. You're lucky!
I've been looking at all the classes offered and was interested in this class.
Anyone taking it? I'm interested in the aspect of making jewelry elements for my cards.
If you have taken this type of classes from Nunn Designs before, was it easy for a beginner?
