On Saturday morning we had a family meeting to clarify the rules in our house and set consequences for breaking the rules and both boys agreed to be better, and it lasted for a couple of hours. This morning, he was playing with matches again!

OK. So there is my mommy vent for the day. His teacher says he is doing fine in school, no worse than any of the other boys there so that is a relief at least.

And I'm a little frustrated that my inlaws won't commit to come for Christmas. When A.J. arrived, they came the next weekend and then again about two months later. I know their circumstances have changed since then but really. My FIL is on disability and my MIL works in the schools and has three weeks off. Couldn't they come meet their new grandson! My parents are serving a mission for our church and can't come. So Spencer hasn't met any of his new grandparents.

I think I have the Monday grumpies and PMS!

I do feel better now that I've vented!
I'm sorry about your discipline issues...we had a hard time with DD on vacation, with listening so we are trying some new things here at home to see what works.

I'm also sorry about your in-laws, that would be upseting to me as well.

Paula - My nephew Eric was unpunishable (my new word for this week). Nothing worked, he didn't even mind being spanked, because he said it only hurt for a couple of seconds, mind you he was 5. Once I had to have a police officer talk to him about staying in his car seat! Luckily we all survived and I'm sure you will be able to laugh about this "some day". Take a bath and relax tonight, maybe eat some chocolate too. Tomorrow will be better (hopefully)

I have to look at the sets again. None of them jumped out at me as "must haves", but I will probably get a level 3 set, if nothing else. I may have to get the bees, just because they will make me giggle now.

Amy - my dad has been on Advair for about 5 years, or more. He hasn't had any trouble with it and his asthma is well controlled. Hopefully it will work well for you too.

I'm off to write a letter to my senator for my last school assignment. What should I complain to him about? Healthcare reform? Nuclear waste dumping, poor air quality..............

It's helping already. If I don't have any reactions to it (roll eyes), it will be great.

I will probably preorder SAB, however, if we are looking at a January 10th deadline I cannot see getting those in time for that swap.

I say we stick with the preorder swap. I like Paula's idea that it can be any of the preorder sets, hostess sets and valentine bundle. Does that sound good?

Should I start getting this together now and asking for formal sign ups, or is it too early?

I know there are 2 pages of posts since this that I haven't read yet, but we can't pre-order SAB stuff till January 1st I though? That would make a Jan 10 due date a little, uh, IMPOSSIBLE! LOL!

I've already said I agree, and I'm ready to sign up Don't want to wait too long and get everyone caught up in Christmas, and you can always send a couple reminder pms closer to the due date as well.

I got my first Christmas card today...ack!

I finally was reading the Parade that comes in the Sunday paper and there was a whole article in there about shopping habits. I found this quote about grocery shopping:

"Bargains" stimulate our natural hoarding instinct. A small region in the prefrontal cortex of our brain is associated with collecting. Scientists believe that it reacts as it did earlier in our evolution, when food supplies may have been scarce. In other words, we're hardwired to respond to shortages by doing all we can to ensure our survival. The result? A lot of soup and a lot of pasta."

And Rubber Stamps, card stock, DSP, embellishments, BS Dies, Cricut Cartridges, etc, etc, etc.

I think that small region in my prefrontal cortex is a little bigger than others.

Good heavens y'all were a CHATTY bunch today!

I didn't order anything from the bundles or the previews. Am looking forward to SAB. I'm trying not to order anything until January since I already made my minimums this quarter.

I ran errands today including a trip to Toys R Us. A store I have not been into in at least 5 years and will hopefully not ever have to enter again. Besides not having what I went there for, it seemed disorganized and the employees had the collective IQ of lint.

Went to JCPenney and picked up our photos. Aren't we adorable?

Mine must be too. That would explain the hoard of DSPs, embellishments and other crafty stuff as well as the Beanie Babies and Hard Rock cafe pins.....

Sounds like that small frontal lobe of your prefrontal cortex took over.

Cute picture Lisa. And I completely hear you about Toys R Us. The one by us isn't horrible. But the one across town is just as you describe it. Especially the IQ quotient.

Now I have a scientific explanation to give my hubby when he asks me why I need all this stamping stuff! I'll blame it on my prefrontal cortex. I think my natural hoarding instinct is telling me to get more of the DSP before it might retire!

Lisa - I lasted about 15 minutes in Toys R Us the other day before the "lint IQ squad" drove me out the door! I think I'll order all the toys for gifts online this year.

I'd better get to bed. I have to be up at five for a 6:30am meeting. Why do these doctors want to meet so early? Nothing good can come from holding a meeting before anyone is awake.

Missi,
I agree, I have always wondered why we LOVE dragging ourselves out of bed at 5 or before to be at the hospital for pre-rounds prior to 7 am. Then there is formal rounds at 7:30 am, why??? Now, I am a morning person and all of that jazz, but some things we do just don't make alot of sense for us to be a fairly educated group of people.

Maybe more of the group needs a bigger prefrontal cortex so we will hoard more things--like sleep and more stamps!! My attendings would be much happier with some sleep and use of the creative side of their brain...maybe a new wave of thought as the new year rolls around!!

Happy sleep and good luck in the AM!

I have a cold this a.m. Not too bad, but I'm tired after the long trip too.

Sorry about your cold Jen!

Great picture Lisa!

I was just wondering if I need more dsp from the old catty actually. I've used (up) quite a bit of the meager 5 different ones I bought this fall. I'd hate to not have enough....

Ooh, I had a long post written and hit the wrong button with my pinkie and it all disappeared!!!! (Isn't that what happened to you yesterday, Lisa? Must be catching!)

Rhonda, can we ever have enough DSP???? I think I need to buy 10 packs of Bella Rose before it retires. (Hoarding complex kicking in!)

Love the pic, Lisa. Very cute to see you and DH together.

Amy, hope the new inhaler keeps working without residual effects.

Paula, Hang in there. You are such a good mom to your boys.

Jen, oatmeal sounds wonderful today. It's down right chilly here this morning!

I can't believe how chatty y'all were here yesterday! And I missed it all - getting ready for my hostess group. Such a stressful day, but totally worth it 'cause I have almost a $500 order - which will pay for most of my pre-order. Yay!

My 23 year old DD is flying home tonight. Moving home, actually. She's been living the wild life out on her own for the past couple of years. Out of the blue she called last month and said she wanted to move to OK City - she's tired of being homesick all the time. Yay!!!!! The past few months when I've talked to her, I could tell things were different in her life and felt like she was finally growing up.

She already has a job lined up at the hospital where my DH works and shouldn't take too long to find her a car and her own apartment. And she wants to go back to school. Yay!!! again. She's given me lots of gray hairs these past few years. Good to see her with some goals for her future.

Happy Tuesday!

OHHH Thank you love.. I got what I ended up doing is that tutorial Andrea had cause it was soo cute and it was Sooooo easy (I was wanting to come up with something totally insane -once I started to put it together.. and her's was sooo easy and all I ended up doing was cutting and putting it together..

Although of course I did make mine different as I didn't have the stamp she had for the cover.. (I have pics I have 2 upload them later today on my blog) but you can see what I made here : http://www.sunnystampinstore.com/Cla...PlannerTin.htm

Ok so question I can NOT get Gabi to leave her Bottle alone!!! She is going to be 2 on 1/3 and by that age the boys didn't use their bottles at all they just gave it up.. hmm Gabi uses cups all day long BUT she will also want her bottle so I feel bad cause she will want her bottle I think its more for comfort.. I just put water in her bottle but she doesn't care she will drink that too so it not she's looking for the milk or juice its the bottle.. or should I just let her be with the bottle??

Ellie, I would just let her have it. She'll eventually give it up, when she's ready. I had some kids that had pacifiers till they were nearly 4! (Only at home, not in public) And some who never wanted one. LOL Some kids just have a stronger need to suck than others. I think you're doing great just having water in it at night.

Ellie,
Amy is right...no milk or juice in the bottle, just water. Both my boys gave up the bottle at 1, because I made them give it up. I just took it away and went right to cups. So, if you are ready to be done with the bottle, gather your nerves, make sure you are really ready and just take it away and be done with it. My oldest had his pacifier until age 4, when we told him he was a big boy now that he had to go to sleep without it. He did just fine. Though when we took off the bed rails not too long ago (just never got around to it), we found 2 pacifiers smack dab in the middle of under the box spring!! How they got there, I'll never know...I always wondered what happened to them all. Anyway, he did look at them lovingly. I asked him if he remembered how much he loved his nukeys and he said yes. It was very cute.

Kathy,
That is great news about your daughter. Sometimes it takes awhile for some people to want to go back to school, etc. It's funny, that at the reunion the biggest thing people said they would change between high school and now is finishing college, or studying harder or going back to school.

Ellie - My ped was not picky about many things but really pushed to have AJ off the bottle by his first birthday. It was faster than we were ready, but we did it. He had a hard time with the sippy cup and we transitioned him using those Nuby sippy cups that have the soft tip, kind of like a bottle. Have you tried those? Wal Mart carries them here and they were cheap.

Spencer has been put to sleep his whole life with milk. He will not go to sleep without a sippy cup, but we only give him water in it. It is almost like his security blanket. I talked to the doc about it, and she was fine with that.

Kathy- Great news about your daughter.

I just about have my elf stuff done!
