Thanks, Paula. I actually got a REALLY good night's sleep last night. I have to get up early tomorrow and drive Russ to work (since his car is there at his employer's). Not much on my agenda today other than a run to Michael's and Kohl's and then some laundry. The chore that NEVER ends. LOL!

Ahem, on to my special contribution:

The ATG is an Adhesive Transfer Gun. It was designed to be used in the matting and framing industry. Think of a packing tape gun kind of thing.

ATG

You want the 714 model (it's red), and the 987 tape. 3M 987ATG 1/4"x 60 yds.

It's very well-balanced and is easier on my Carpal Tunnel syndrome than SNAIL is. Besides, it's the coolest ever. Too big to lose on my craft table. A roll of 60 YARDS (not feet) is about $3. I went thru 2 rolls that size for my Convention swaps. Imagine what that would have cost me in SNAIL refills. <wink>

The initial investment is a bit large--the gun is around $40 (I think it went up from when I bought it). And shipping is around $10. (If you enter your address, then put "2" in all the cc fields, it will tell you your shipping cost. If you order 12 rolls of adhesive (probably 2 year's supply for me), you won't have to pay shipping again for a long time. It's even better if you can get a few people to order it with you and split the shipping.

You totally NEED one.
Gotta agree with Amy on this. LOVE. MY. ATG. I order a box of adhesive (I use the 1/4" 924 which is only 36 yards per roll) once a year or so. Usually in the spring, as I gear up for Convention swaps. LOL!

And she's also right about Julee being a TOTAL sweetheart!

I called the hotline (1-888-936-3636) They asked for my address and how many tape rolls I had ruined. They will send postage so I can send my defective gun to them and they will send a new one. One of my friends had the same issue with hers. She was ready to throw it away when I told her there was a thread about a recall on SCS. She called them and they swapped out her dispenser and sent her 2 or 3 rolls of adhesive with the new one. I've had great customer service from framingsupplies.com

Well, I only got two of the Verve Sketch challenges done and uploaded to my gallery last night, but I was really happy with the cards. Except that I added some Swarovski Crystals to them, I could have put them in the SUO keyword too. Oh well.

I just LOVE the SA Christmas swaps!!!! I do have 3 cards with no name here. Would the artists of the following please FESS UP?
  • Real Red, Kraft and Green using Deer Friends and the square scallop punch to make packing tape glittered windows
  • Scandinavian Christmas tree mounted on Kiwi or Olive with Riding Hood red accents and striped ribbon at the bottom
  • Scandinavian Christmas tree mounted on Pacific Point with a vellum overlay stamped with "Peace Love Joy" in Choc and accented with a torn edge and Choc Chip GG

I forgot to mention that I put out my SA swap cards yesterday for those who came to my class to see. They all got lots of compliments.

There was a former demo who came and she was ooing and awing over them. I told her I found a great group of swappers and she couldn't believe they all came from the same swap. She said she usually got 2-3 good ones out of ten but she loved them all. (Just like I do.)

Here's my little whine for the day: All of the fall sets are line art!!

I wanted to make fall/thanksgiving themed cards for Spencer's announcement, but I don't want to color 50 images of anything! Anyone have any suggestions?

Retired sets? Or you could just use DSP. I didn't ever buy the leaf dies, but that would work!

I had no idea what to do with all the fall pattern in the bulk DSP buy, so I used it this weekend at my shoebox swap. Extremely simple card.

Probably too simple LOL

I did think of that exact DSP, but I used most of mine up on a Fall scrapbook page for my hostess club. I think I still have Autumn Fest in my stash. It was in the "to be sold" pile, but I think I still have it. Also trying to decide if 50 pocket cards would be too much. Maybe if I had that score pal already. For that matter, an ATG would also make the process so much faster.

That is a cute card and simple is always good at a shoebox swap, especially one with 20 people at it.

So Amy are you stalking me? lol
This thread overwhelms me. Too many pages to read to catch up with everyone. I do like what you've done with the DSP. I have a few of those sheets left yet. I'm trying to get ideas set for club then cut the paper all at once. I have four set none of what I started out with. Using this paper would be a great way to get the last one done.

I have a new computer so I have been trying to get everything uploaded. I totally lost my files. I'll pop in when I can. I'm trying not to spend too much time sitting at the computer. Like that will happen. I have some serious sewing to do, I had a great idea for a new tree skirt. It even involves stampin' stuff!

I'm back from visiting my parents. Dad has improved some, and mom is in good spirits, but still has to stay a lot longer at the rehab...she got depressed when Sara said.....come home now Grandma?

I have lots to do this week.....my downline's open house/first event on Tuesday night, stamp club Thursday night (and Friday afternoon), a Stamp A Stack on Friday evening....ack! Through in some putting up Christmas lights with DH on Tuesday (he's off for Veteran's day) and some teacher Thanksgiving ham prep on Friday and ack! Did I mention I haven't started cutting and also have a big 3-D swap (the year long monthly one I'm in) due on the 15th? Ack!

Here's my whine for an otherwise good day...

Why would someone host a birthday party for 4 year olds on a Sunday evening from 5 - 6:30 and serve nothing but ice cream cake?? All the other moms also assumed pizza or something was going to be there, so we are all lamenting that our children have now had ice cream cake for dinner. Oh well!! You're only 4 once, right?!!! At least it has milk in it and calcium, right?

Some people are just dumb. LOL I wouldn't be too upset that my kid ate ice cream for dinner, except that he would then have a meltdown from a sugar crash later. If you had all known, you could have fed your kids before the party!

Rhonda,

Glad to hear your parents are on the mend. Rehab is hard. My mom was really depressed when she was there too.

Amy,

I like your card. Sometimes simple is the best!

Paula,

I would go with retired sets, if you have any. I don't have any other earth shattering ideas, unless you went out and bought some fake leaves and attached them to the card. I bet they're really cheap at the craft stores right now. What about having the boys do some leaf rubbings to add somewhere to the announcement? As the background? Maybe even the envelope? That would be cool.

Well, the party was at My Gym, so he's pretty exhausted. He just asked for his heart meds, as he knows he gets them before bed, so he's ready to crash. Anyway, the boys were with their dad, so it's not like anything healthy was being eaten all weekend!!!

Another agreeing that cake only is pretty odd at a 5-6:30 pm party.......when would a child be expected to eat? 4pm? 8 pm?

BTW, if anyone watched Grey's this week, the heart patient had the same heart condition Drew has. Drew's isn't nearly as bad - it comes in all levels of severity, but that's the road we might face some day and what parents in my support group are facing. It's more common in teens and adults, but rare in the little ones.
With that, we're off to do bedtime!

Well there is five hours of swimming left but I came home because I have a major headache. My DH is doing the swimming duties. I feel bad because I am a Stroke and Turn Judge and had to leave my post. My DH can do it too but I always feel bad, even though he told me to go home and have a shower and relax.

Paula: "Gratitude" is my favourite current fall set! It looks great with popping pastels technique or if you have the old pumpkin spectrum pad or make your own!

Please let me know if you are in the SA picture from convention in Lisa's gallery (Biffsbee) or if you recognize anyone, please! I recognize most of you but there are a few that I just can't put a name to the face!

Wow, I sure missed a lot over just one day! Guess I will just say hello to all!

Crop was all day yesterday...I got all of 8 pages done...without journaling that is...took me 5 hours to finish the first two page layout!!! That with lunch and three make-n-takes in that same 5 hours. We had a good time though...until I got near home...backed into the drive at my friends to leave her off at after midnight last night and something went "clunk" and the engine killed...started it again, okay, hmmm, battery light on and no power steering...call DH - must have thrown a belt - just come home. Okay - get home...not just the belt, is a pully and belt and almost put the pully into the radiator!!! And because it is not a domestic...Subaru...have to wait for dealer for parts tomorrow. At least DH can fix it himself and I don't have to work tomorrrow.
Right now I am at his work computer while he is painting his snowmobile hood. I would upload a page from yesterday, but have nothting with me.
Wish I were at home, could be stamping!

Kim?!?! Is that really you?!?!? We've missed you so much but I am glad that you had the chance to take a break after convention. You did a lot there and deserved some time away from all of us crazies here at SCS.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I have an idea in my head using Autumn Fest and So Very. I'm thinking of using a 6x12 piece of Kraft CS with Autumn Fest stamped all over it in Pumpkin, Mustard, Rust and Cocoa. Then fold it accordian style at 4 and 8. Putting So Very Blessed on the front with a picture of AJ and Spencer in the middle and the announcement info on the last third.

But that means I need envelops for a 4x6 card. Any thoughts?

Jen - I haven't seen this weeks Grey's yet but I am getting closer. I got through a couple of episodes this weekend. I will pay special attention when I get to that one.

Lisa- As another Subaru owner, I can sympathize. I love it 95% of the time. But when it breaks, that's another story. At least your DH can fix it. We finally found a good, reliable, honest shop but it's not very close to us.

Hi Lisa! Sorry about your car! Ugh.

Paula--what about a 5.5 x 12 piece of cardstock? Then you don't have to worry about envies being weird.

Great car, DH can fix most anything and if he doesn't want to get into it, we have a great shop only 3 miles from us. They are a family business and really super nice people. The body shop across from it is on our list too - nice work, and fair. Some benefits of a smaller town.

I am just happy it happened at my friends not on the road home or where we were - that was over an hour and a half away! She is only 10 miles from me (if that).

Paula - sounds like a cute idea...does Amy's suggestion work for you?

Amy - I did NOT need to even know what an ATG gun was!

But it won't fix the car!

I am so easily enabled...I came home with my first set of nestabilites this week - now hoping to play with them tomorrow.

I thought about the 5.5, but the picture will be 4x6. I guess I was going to cut off .25 anyway, I might as well take .75 off. Now if only I could get a good picture of Spencer and AJ both smiling and looking at the picture at the same time!

Paula--I wish there were a "good picture" drug! LOL

Lisa--for your next set of Nestabilities (LOL), go to http://www.ucutathome.com/

I have a couple sets, but honestly, I rarely use them. Most of my cardmaking is designing for my card buffet, so I just don't pull them out.
