LOL! I just assumed (yes, yes what assuming does) everyone would be using them since postal rates are sky high now.

Everyone busy working on their secret elf suprises????

I'm stuck at work. I know I shouldn't complain because I only have to come into the office 2 times a week, but jee, sometimes I don't want to be here at all! Don't get me wrong, my job is great, the people are great, right now I just want to be outside or at home creating something

Oh well, only a couple more hours to go...hope everyone is enjoying their day!

I just got back from voting. No lines at all. And Spencer only tried to touch the screen once!

Am I the only horrible person who hasn't started on my elf stuff yet? Don't anyone worry though, it will get done and in the mail on time.

Nope Paula, I haven't started either. I wanted to wait until I knew who I had in case I found out a favorite color or something!

Now that I know, I will get to work on it!

oohh. this is so fun. I am so lucky that I have the week of thanksgiving off. I can spend some time that week making goodies for my secret elfette!

Voting was quick for me.. no line at all. But I went at noon so maybe that's why it was slow? don't know. I am excited to find out the results. It's so cool to be in this country and able to vote. what an awesome thing.. (I am feeling a little patriotic today. ) Although I have to say.. I will be so glad when today is over. I am a little tired of all the political ads and the mud slinging. It's been going on for too long!

worked from home today cuz I got a sick puppy dog. My 10 yr old lab has the stomach flu.. but an hour on the IV for fluids and meds at the doc seemed to have perked her right back up. I was really worried there for a little while.

so that's the story from here.

Congrats Ellie on voting for the first time! I remember my first too..

Kathy- what a trip home you had.. sounds like my trip through Frankfurt last month.. what a messy trip!

Paula- those peanut allergies are terrible. I have never witnessed anything like that. Does Benadryl help that situation? what do you do besides wait?

everyone else- hope you are having a good Tuesday.

L

I am so glad everyone is excited about the secret elf swap!!

I had such a terrible day, which aside from mediation yesterday, the news of my friend's husband's illness and then I lost my wallet at WalMart. Ugh...it was turned in fully intact by a little girl AFTER I had left, AFTER I had cancelled my credit cards and AFTER I had gone back to the polling station to see if I left it there when voting. I am just thankful to have it back, though. I wish the girl had left her name or turned it in while I was there, as I would have liked to have given her a little something as a reward.

I didn't dare give him benadryl this morning because of all the other medicine he is already on. I read some where in his medical history that the combination gave him hallucinations. As soon as he is on our insurance, we've got to get him into our doc so we can figure all of that out.

Here's my vent for the day. When I adopted AJ, he was on our insurance from the moment that we signed the paperwork. I was working for the state and DH was working for the county and they just did all the paperwork before placement and it was just a matter of hours before it was approved. Now that DH works for the feds, it practically takes an act of congress to get an adopted child on your policy! (OK, that's an exaggeration, but that is what it feels like.)

I guess I can take comfort in the fact that I have reasonably OK insurance to start with. I know plenty of people don't.

OK, vent over.

Rhonda- So glad you got your swaps and that you like them.

Liz- I am with you. Proud to be in a country where we have a say in our government. And glad the election will be over after tonight. (Of course we all thought that eight years ago and it took weeks to decide the final outcome.) I am kind of excited, regardless of the outcome.

As the mother of two bi-racial children, I think it would be cool to have an African American president for them to look up to. And as a woman, I think it would be cool to have a woman as a Vice President for all the other girls out there to look up to. (See, not even saying who I voted for, because I don't want to start any heated CE discussions here!) I know the issues are much larger than that, but it's still so exciting to me.

I'm finally working on the pieced, fleece blanket for Spencer. He's been cuddling up with towels, so I really need to get this done.

(((hugs))) Jen. Sorry about the wallet thing too. What a pain. But how nice that an honest person turned it in so you don't have to worry about ID theft.

Anyone having problems here tonight? I kept trying to post and I was getting errors. Probably user error!

Jen - I'm so sorry for your bad day! You need to just sit back and relax tonight! Get your boys to bed, get a glass of wine and watch some mindless tv!

guess what came today! My top note die that has been back ordered for 3 weeks! I thought it wasn't supposed to come until tomorrow! So I am going to go play!!

Jen - glad you got your wallet back - bummer about having to go through all that trouble, definitely does not make the day. {hugs}

Paula, I love my fleece blankets (yes I have more than one).

Rhonda, glad you like the swaps. How are your parents doing?

Ellie, did you get that swap figured out now?

Liz, having a great Tuesday, hope you are too! Having been to other countries in this world we are truly blessed to be able to participate in our government like we do.

Kathy, I hope you are feeling better and rested after your trip home. There's no place like home, there's no place like home...

I got two customer orders out of the blue in the past two days. One was for one stamp set, but the other is a workshop qualifying order. Wow!

My Serif Alpha shipped today! Waiting for new toys!!!

Amy, thanks for the comments in my gallery. You are too sweet.

I have posted my swap card now for Jami's swap if anyone is interested...But Jen you are in my group so no peeking if you want to be surprised (it's on the blog too).

Woo Hoo Lisa! I love it when that happens. And congrats on the unexpected orders. I actually got two more today that I wasn't expecting. Must be the week everyone is thinking about Christmas stuff or something.

I actually have an idea for one of my elfette gifts and it involves something I've been hoarding for years!

And, I just finished sewing Spencer's blanket. Now if I can just find my good cloth scissors so I can fringe the edges and seams. Too bad I don't have those good sharp Craft and Paper scissors. I am sure it would work great!

You probably need to order them. LOL

Except the fabric store ladies and knife sharpener people will tell you that fleece will dull scissors faster than anything else.

I had a dream about that Serif alphabet last night!!

Basically, I was at convention and they were calling out your ID number to see if you won (kind of like what they did at regionals). Well, they had my ID number on the screen, but it wasn't my name and someone else claimed my prize!!! So, I wasn't going to say anything, but then everyone said I should, so I went up and told Shelli and she told me I could just order it and she would buy it for me!!! Too funny.....

Well I am in the Midwest and I did stay up to hear Obama's acceptance speech. I thought it was a good speech and I think that McCain's concession speech was very good as well.

Jen, your dream is too funny! I'm thinking you've been wanting that alphabet too!

Ellie- You must go get your nails fixed.. HOW could you work like that!

Crissy- I was up too. too excited to sleep. Both of those speeches were great last night, I agree. John McCain went out with a lot of class with what he said. Congrats on the showcase!

Lisa- you are such a tease. "my serif alpha just shipped" rub it in why don't ya!

Jen- sorry for your bad day yesterday.. look at it this way.. today's got to be better!

My dog is better today so I have to head back into the office... and what am I doing, watching TV and typing in here rather than getting ready.. ugh.. I was up too late last night! I wish I could have been in Downtown Chicago last night... that would have been awesome to witness.

anyway.. have a good day all!

Ok now to see if I can give hubby an extra blink or two so I can get this nail fixed because its driving me nuts and I can't do anything it keeps getting caught on stuff!! AHHHHHHH...

SO question what did you guys have for Breakfast??? anything good... Its looking like egg and ham over here w/toast... hmmmm...... w/a reese pieces buttercup on the side! LOL

I stayed up too, (but then it was only 9:00 p.m. here when they called the election.) I missed John McCain's speech but the clips I heard sounded gracious and like the right thing to say at this moment in history. I did hear Obama's though and thought it was also all the right things to say right now.

Like Ellie, I am excited for what this means for my boys. I told AJ this morning that he could be anything he wants to be in the whole world, even president. Then he said, "that means I will be the boss!"

Ellie- There is a spray you can put on newspaper clippings. I don't know what it is called. Another option would be to take the papers to a copy center and have it colored copied.

Jen- That's a funny dream. Before I bought my cuttlebug almost two years ago, I dreamed about it too. That's how I knew I had to have it!

Liz- Glad to hear your dog is better.

Crissy- Congrats on the Showcase!

Amy- I know I've gone through a lot of blades on my rotary cutter so I know it dulls them bad. I found a pair of old scissors and sharpened them on some foil and they sort of worked.

Lisa- Can't wait to see what you make with your new alphabet.

And here's the other good news for today. My DH made some calls to some one he knows at the state and they are making arrangements for Spencer's legal father to sign the paper work ASAP.

And here's my teeny, tiny vent for the day. Why is it that all of my recent orders have just missed the last shipping of the day. I always get shipping notices in the wee hours of the morning instead. I know it is only one day, but if they had made the truck last night, I would have them today!

OMG Ellie you are too funny! Go make those swaps now!

Finishing up payroll here at work then off to the doc about my shoulder again - I am ready to tell him I am not leaving his office until he fixes it! We'll see what my real options are. Then back to work this afternoon.

Busy morning here - not enough time to make all the comments - but cheers, yeas, hugs and have a great day all!

I think Missi is working on that...but if you're adding me to your list, I've been very good this year and I'd like the Serif Essentials alphabet or a laptop. LOL!! Oh, and a trip to Hawaii wouldn't be bad either.....

Here's a question? Can I change my user name? I have been looking for that option in my profile but can't find it. At the time I didn't think much about it as I thought I would never post. And I had never posted until convention swapping. Now I would like a different user name!!
