Once again I am so behind on posts. Had a great time in San Antonio at the regional. My niece (and DL) went on Friday and there were maybe 100 or so people there tops. Trina told me today when we had breakfast that yesterday was a full house. Anyway, we had just put our things down and my niece had wandered off to look at boards and Shelli was standing at my table! I said, "Oh, I'm so glad to see you because I brought something for you to sign." I got out my Celebrate book that I had made for my mini album swap at convention and the one she had chosen as a winner in her first Creative Challenge. She recognized it immediately and asked if she could look through it and read it. I said, "of course!". So, she looked through it and we laughed about some of the pictures and she commented that they have had so many calls about the Convention Barbie and UPS Ken and asking if they are going to be made. She signed my book on the page with our picture from convention and we just had a nice chat. My niece came over and took our photo and all was good. Michelle (niece) and I had our own private table and I even managed to do my Make and Takes because there were only the two of us at the table. It was an odd crowd, very quiet, and while Michelle and I were cracking up at Jaron's wisecracks the rest of the audience seemed a little stunned and not sure how to take him. I think there were a lot of SU event virgins in the group. Anyway, it was a nice, relaxing day at a SU event and we all know that doesn't happen often. I'm now looking forward to leadership. Any SA gals going? I sure do hope so. Oh and how's this, I made NO SWAPS for the regional and you want to know something else, I didn't miss swapping! I was shocked at myself. I thought I'd feel left out and like I was missing something but I didn't. It was just so relaxing....LOL! That being said, I'm already planning my leadership swaps!
I'll try and catch up on the board tomorrow since I'll be working the rest of the week!

OHH Sharon your post has me all worked up as I have only 2 more weeks till my VA reg.!!! although everyone going will notice me as I will have my light up crown!lol and I am working swaps to the bone but loving it and I have to make some extra little things.. the thing that I just thought of was how in Heavens am I going to carry these things.... hmmm I have 2 3D swaps and 1 card swap that is one is ok but I'm worried about one of my 3D swaps.. hmm have to figure how to carry that so it doesn't get messed up... My weekend very interesting too interesting.. tiring.. my 5 yr.old DS got a BAD allgery and we ran to the ER to just give him Benadryl!! Only to have my sweets get another attack in the middle of the night and have to go to the doc.in the Am and also my oldest son had a REALLY pain ear ache and was crying (he never cries) I almost thought I was going to go to ER again but with Motrin he held out till the AM and then when we did go to the doc. he actually didn't have any infection but they gave him drops for the pain and to keep an eye on him.. so all weekend long I'm like WHAT THE HECK is Isaac allergic to??? I tell my friend about it and she said oh that happened to me when I was like 6 I ate a bowl of Fruit a Loops and I broke out just like that.. and I say wow really and I say Isaac did have cereal but he always has cereal then I said OH MY GOSH WAIT.. he had Cocoa Rice Crispies!! that was the first time he ever had it although he had it in the am and the reaction didn't happen until like 4.. then he did actually have it when he came home hubby gave him and then he got another reaction and right before we left for the doc he wanted to eat so I gave him.. WHY THE HECK DIDN'T I SEE THAT!!!!! I FELT LIKE A DORK.. I NEVER would think that it would be that but that is the only NEW thing he actually ate really although I would have never thought cereal, but I am still going to have him go to get tested for allergies..

So that was my interesting swapless weekend! lol..

Sharon- Thanks for the report from regionals. Sounds like a good event and so nice that you and Trina could meet up. And how cool is that about Shelli. The energy sounds quite a lot different than convention.

Can you believe I went to the bathroom during the SU Barbie/UPS Ken commercial. Yep, missed the whole thing. But I made it back before the real UPS Ken showed up.

We just got back from dinner and birthday cake at my brothers. (My brother, niece and my brother's brother-in-law all have birthdays in the next week or so.) Spencer is starting to warm up to us a bit and be a bit more comfortable around us. He didn't even look so scared at my brother's. I think having this weekend for all of us to get to know each other better has been really good. Now we just have to hope that placement happens before the state gets too involved. Pray for us the next few days.

Anyone used their Cricut to cut out vinyl yet? I want to make a border of Mickey Mouse heads out of vinyl for Spencer's room but I'm a little scared to start. Is it hard?

(((Hugs))) Ellie- Raising children can be such an adventure. I really wish they came with some kind of instruction manual that told you everything specific to each of their individual needs.

Yes, and we were very relieved that she made it back! LOL Angie and I were worried!

You know I'll be praying for you and Spencer!

I bought the raw SU vinyl to cut with my Big Shot when it first came out, and it's still just sitting on my cutting table. I'm afraid! When I read instructions somewhere, it sounded too complicated. LOL

AMEN to that Paula! Then somehow I am sure I would still find a way to really mess up as a parent anyway! We call that "trial by fire" at my house...you just never quite know when you are going from a small match flame to the whole forest on fire!! Kids are great, but I have never had a harder job in my life!! I know that's why I only have one...all you Moms of multiple children are truly amazing women!!

Another busy day in SA land! I had to run errands today, finally finshed my treat bags for DD's preschool party, updated my blog and worked on making my new laptop have all my stuff from my old laptop.

Jen - What did you think of Grey's? I thought this episode was pretty good. did you finish your cleaning project before the boys got home? I've always wanted to go to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, but never wanted to deal with the crowds. That would be very cool for your boys though!

Liz - Did you get your luggage? I'm with Paula with her nomination of you for the next Amazing Race! Re: Secret Elf Swap - Jen is organizing it and I am co-hosting so she can participate and not know who her secret elf is. So you can either PM me or her with your information!

Stacey - Great picture! You guys look so cute! your costume was awesome!

Amy - My DD is going as dorothy too! My daycare provider gave her a couple of dressup dresses and dorothy was one of them so Halloween was the first thing I thought of. I bought her these really cute shoes at Wal-Mart, they were red and sparkley, but they didn't have her size and I ended up getting a size too small...well when I went to exchange them, they were all gone!! Luckily they had some other red shoes that will work, I might try to go to another wal-mart and see if they have them, but I don't know if I will have time before Halloween.

Sharon - I'm so jealous you got to sit down and talk with Shelli! I wanted to meet her so bad at convention and one day we tried to get in line but they had closed it and another day I had a swap. I'm glad you had fun!

Ellie - So sorry about the allergies. I would have been just like you and never would have thought about the cereal!

Paula - Glad to hear that Spencers visits are doing good and getting him used to your family. I really hope he gets to come home for good this week! I can't believe you missed the Barbie and UPS Ken commercial! That was my favorite part of convention!

Hello again!
Wow, so much to catch up on.

Liz, your trip sounds amazing! I would love to be in your suitcase!

Sharon, I REALLY wanted to go to regionals in San Antonio, but knew that I would be here with my DD, so didn't even try for it. Sounds like you had a great time and how cool to talk with Shelli!

Rhonda, how was your trunk or treat? I have a love/hate relationship with Halloween Candy! I used to ration it out to the kids (while DH and I ate half of it!), but now I just let them eat it as fast as they can, let them get sick, and then we're done with it!

Stacy, CUTE costume. Loved the gun!

Jen, being at the parade in person would be such a great experience! Hope you've had a good weekend.

Ellie, sounds like you had one heck of a weekend. Hope things are settling down a little. Allergies are funny things. Cold cereal???? Who knew!

Crissy, I'm jealous of your new laptop! Mine is dying a slow death and I hope it limps along until I can convince DH that I really CAN NOT live without one.

Paula, please let us know if you get brave with your cricut. I bought one off Craigslist and bought vinyl, but haven't had the time or energy to try it. I'd love to know how it goes.

Amy, loved your post on the primary program! We always hold our breath - and have lots of funny stories to tell about our kids. And I envy your Sun. afternoon nap!!!!!

Hi and hugs to everyone else!

It's late and the babies are finally asleep. I'm supposed to be trying to sleep, but have my second wind. I'm watching the baby until he wakes up, then I'll take him in to my DD to feed him.

It's been kind of a blue day for me. My parents are leaving for the little island of Samoa (out in the South Pacific) to do service work for my church for the next 3 years. Today was their big send off back in Utah.

I am the oldest of 10, and EVERYONE was there except me. Lots of good food and good times going on without me. I'm glad to be where I am, but wished I could have been there with my family.

My DD is slowly getting her strength back. Having a baby and major surgery all in a month has been harder than she thought it would be. She's so excited, tho, to see progress on a daily basis in her vision. You have to understand that her vision has been at a -11 (that's pretty bad in vision terms!) for years. And she's had cataracts on top of that for the past couple years. She's amazed at the color and the detail that she's able to pick out already!

It will be Monday by the time most of you read this - so I hope everyone has a great week!

Kathy,

That's amazing! How wonderful for your daughter. I'm sorry that you missed the big send-off, but I'm sure everyone understands. Samoa sounds intriguing.

Let's see...early morning...back to school over here...I sure hope it's easier to get up once the clocks reset!!

I have a feeling the school nurse will be sending Jack home from school. He's got a little cough, but he really wanted to go, so I sent him.

More cleaning to do today - I didn't finish last night, but I'm close! I've got to do the guest room for my parents too and Drew's room. So much to do! And laundry, and maybe squeeze in a workout too! I was so bad all weekend - no exercise! Do you think cleaning counts? LOL!

I hope everyone has a great Monday!!

Kathy - I'm sorry you missed your parents send off! They will understand that you are where you need to be. I am so excited for your daughter's progress. That is awesome!

I love my new laptop! My old one was almost 5 years old and I justified the new one because I work mostly from home and the old one was starting to do funky things! If something happened to the laptop I couldn't work and that would be bad!

OK Ellie! You've said your hellos, now get out!!!! I don't want to see you back here until you've accomplished at least one thing for your swaps!

At least now you know that you should never buy Cocoa Krispies again (just to be safe!)

Ellie-

I'm sorry you had such a tough weekend. Save the box of Cocoa Krispies to look at the ingredients! I bet it's a food coloring problem. My friend gets itchy from M&M's due to food colorings used. I hope everything turns out OK.

That sounds just like me when I am deep cleaning. I'll start in one area and then I get bored and move to something else, in the end the house is messier than when I started. As a matter of fact we cleaned out a closet 2 weekends ago and there are still a couple of things sitting in our living room from that! But the closet is still clean, so that is cool

Guess what I found!!!

A very good older friend of mine, whom I taught with, had given me her super secret, been passed down for generations homemade candy recipe as part of my wedding present. Well, I haven't been able to find it for probably that long!! Well, I just found it in a box!!!!! I can't believe it!! It was a print-out of an email she had sent me!!

How cool is that??!!!!

Wow, sounds like a busy weekend out there for all of you!

Crissy - red chunky glitter for Dorthy's shoes Happy new laptop. I don't know what I woud do without mine.

Ellie - allergies are no fun, but I hope once you get it figured out it will be easier for you. Now - go work on your swaps

Sharon, glad you had a great time at regionals and talking with Shelli. And NO swaps?!

Kathy, sorry you missed your folks send off but I am certain they understand. Glad to hear your DD is recovering.

Jen - sounds like how I clean. But sure is nice when it is ALL done.

Hi Angie, Amy, Paula and whomever else I missed.

Saturday I spent the day hanging with BFF at the flea market sale and made enough $ for the big alphabet for the BS...now I have second guessed myself into waiting to see if there is an exclusive one coming in January...what are the chances of it being on a preview???
Sunday was supposed to be a pj day, however DH needed to go to town to get a part for his skid loader and I rode along to run into Michael's. I ended up at M's and Menards. See here http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=42732 for the results after we got home. We were gone much longer than expected (DH in Menards ya know ) so I still did not get my prep started for this coming Saturday's class. Good news is, I still have all week and am off today and Friday.

Good Luck with your cleaning Jen!

I'm sorry you missed your family reunion Kathy! I'm glad your daughter is doing better and having improved vision too!

Ellie-so glad you thought of the cocoa krispies! You'll feel better when you know what else irritates his system too.

Congrats on the new laptop Crissy!

Hoping for little state involvement for you Paula and that we hear good news soon about Spencer!

Sounds like a fun weekend Lisa....I'm waiting to order an alpha too. Such adorable projects!!!!

TFS your regionals observations in the demo forums Sharon--they were helpful/reassuring to me.

My OSU Cowboys tried their best, but Texas still beat them. Oh well, we had a fun weekend...lunch at the Greek Festival and trunk or treat etc. We still have to do Halloween again on Friday though....maybe I'll be energized by then.

I have been working on the 50 cards I have to make for church. I have 30 cut and have to do 20 more heat embossings of the main image. Then, I'll be ready to assemble. The other 20 will be a different style using the same images.

Lisa- How big of a glass brick did you use? I was going to do that with my little Jingle All the Way, but I wasn't sure which brink to get. Now I am really wishing I had bought that ribbon. Ugh! I finally put my order in last night!

Crissy and Jen- I hear ya on the cleaning out thing. I can never focus on anything too long and it always gets much worse before it gets better. I still have three boxes of clothes that are either close to Spencer's size or a bit bigger that need to be reboxed sitting in my hall way.

And Halloween decorations? I haven't even gotten them out yet. Is it too late? AJ's been asking, but I just haven't gotten around to that.

After being sooo busy for the last week, I feel like rewarding myself with a day off today, but I still have a number of things to do so I won't. Like figuring out the vinyl thing, making a fleece blanket, sorting clothes, doing a mountain of laundry, putting together the book shelf from IKEA, etc.

Still waiting to hear from the caseworker too about placement. Could be this afternoon or maybe tomorrow.

I tried to edit and post more deets, but it did not show up??? Anyway - there is DSP wrapped around the glass block under the ribbon...the block was from Menards and is 6x6x3 (they did not have this size at HD, only larger ones). I used the small size DE. It was done in 5 minutes!
DH offered to cut a hole in the bottom for a light...I am still pondering that idea...I told him if he did it for my display sample he would have to do it for all the ones ordered for my last minute gift class in December.
Glad you like it, it was super easy and so cute!

Jen - I'm glad you found the recipe! I can't wait to get the swaps!!

Lisa - All your goodies look awesome. That glass brick is beautiful!

Paula - I didn't even get my Halloween decorations down from the attic this year. It just came up so fast!!! I really hope you get Spencer soon! At least then you will have one less thing to worry about!

Rhonda - Sounds like you are making progress on your cards for Church!

So here I am being a good girl prepping for my class and what do you know...I do not have enough white taffeta ribbon! Now who (those of me who hoard things) does not have another spool of basic white taffeta ribbon?!! And now has to place an expedited order. And needs nothing else, but will no doubt purchase other things of no consequence to hoard to make the expediting worth it. Okay, rant over myself over. I guess I will order some more of the Jingle All the Way DE's and make up some of those blocks for a craft fair coming up in Nov.

If you order that alpha, you could get the taffeta ribbon in your free stuff.

Just sayin'.

GOOD NEWS!!! Spencer is coming home tonight! I just heard from my caseworker and we are doing a "legal-risk" placement tonight and they are hoping to have the relinquishment from the legal father tomorrow morning before the 9:15 AM child services hearing.

Hope everyone else is having a great day...progress on their swaps or classes being done? I am traveling this week for work and I can't pack up all my stuff to take with me when I need to be in the create mode...and I get irritated when I only have 1 or 2 things that I need to finish a project and I didn't think to bring it. So, I am thinking and trying to put my Hostess Thank you together in my head. It's going to be a LONG WEEK! Keep the posts up so I can create via all of you!

Angie
