I {heart} stamp-accounting. DH is a CPA, so I probably couldn't win him over. LOL

I have a fair amount of accounting bg myself, which is what's holding me back from buying a $150 alpha!

I am just spoiled and as long as we have the money and I realllllly think I neeeeeed it...besides, Saturday I am selling retired stamps (which I just remembered was on the schedule) and that will pay for it and then some. See no issue. Trading used, retired stamps for sizzix alphabet.

Makes perfect sense.

I have plenty in my SU account to pay for it, but I just keep thinking "Wow, that's a lot of $$!" And part of me wonders if there will be a "deal" or a different alpha down the road. I don't know. LOL I'm indecisive!

Makes perfect sense to me Angie and Lisa!

OK. I got the other big order and it put me just $40 short of $1000 for the month. That's a no brainer right? Add the BS bag to my club order, right? Except that puts me only $20 away from the extra free stamp set. Do I add another $20? Or do I not buy the bag and just get a couple of more dies and call it good?

I am going to bed and will sleep on it. Then tomorrow I will update my "accounting" spread sheet and see how far behind I am and what my projected income is for November and see if I can justify it.

The accounting that always gets me into trouble is that I always try to figure out what I will be able to make next month in sales and class fees and spend it this month. It's actually the way I run my house hold budget too, except in that case, my DH's paycheck doesn't change so I really do know what I have to spend this month.

Well, I am obviously the wrong person to ask for a hard-and-fast decision.

I would buy dies. But if you'll be carrying your Big Shot to workshops and crops outside your home in the near future, go for the bag.

Hi girls! Just checking in to say my mom is settled in a rehab/physical therapy place for her broken leg, arm and ribs that is very close to their house(6 miles), and my dad is doing better and getting around on crutches. I'm happy to be settled back at my own house and planning to do the challenge today!

Most of you have had good news to report-good . I said a prayer for your boys Jen!

So, I so don't feel like doing this workshop tomorrow, but I have to.

I think I'm going to case one of the Artisan cards for the month. It's the hostesses birthday, and plus, with it being SU's birthday, that'll be a good one to do. Now, I need to come up with something else. Maybe the pp spiders? or a Frankie card? I don't know....

The scallop circle spider? My customers ooooo-ed and ahhhhh-ed over the example one I made (nothing special--looked just like all the others ) I used the small Reese's in it instead of York Peppermint Patties (very few people actually like those peppermints in my circles).

I think the simplicity of it is perfect with a more elaborate card like an Artisan card. HTH!

The spiders are fun--easier if you have googly eyes, I discovered. Or make them into pencil toppers, if that appeals to you.

Do you have the Top Note die? Those Frankies are very cute! I did a Frankie card for my Oct card buffet (not the top note kind--saw those too late), and it was a HUGE hit! I couldn't believe how many people made 6 of them! LOL

Only 3 people are going...but they are regulars and it's only a mile from my house. So, I figure the cards can have a touch more than normal.

Morning everyone.

Rhonda- So glad that your mom is settled and you are back home. Hope all goes well for you.

Jen- I made the spiders too and they were an enormous hit.

Still haven't decided about the order thing. I'll figure it out later.

Vent time: long story short - they don't have a relinquishment from the legal father yet. Little hope it will happen today. So placement will likely not happen tomorrow. Maybe Tuesday if the State doesn't intervene first. Ugh! We will still see him today and tomorrow and hopefully on Sunday too.

I guess that gives us a few more days to finish putting his room together. It's almost clean now but I can't move the bed by myself or bring the dresser up from the garage by myself. DH worked yesterday from 6:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. but is suppose to come home early this afternoon.

Hang in there, Paula! I firmly believe that no matter how you get your child, there is a "travail" to go through. Prayers for all of you, including Spencer !

Little guy doesn't have school on Fridays, so he has been driving me crazy. But then again, I'm having trouble focusing in general today, so that's not too surprising. I am doing some cleaning. STBX gets the kids at 3 and then I think I'll take a nap and then do a bunch of stamping. I am still in my pajamas.

I also need to make the thank you cards for the soccer coaches. Oh yeah, and buy the gift cards. I was the "team mom".

LOL Jen.

Here's mine--again, not the top note one.
http://cardbuffet.blogspot.com/2008/...rd-buffet.html

And here are my directions:
Frankie Card Instructions

1. Cut one long side of Lovely Lilac cardstock to make hair. Adhere to card.
2. Punch 2 of each of the following:
Kiwi Kiss 1 3/8 circle
Whisper White 1 3/8 circle
Black 1” circle
3. Adhere black to white circles for eyes. Add detail with the white gel pen. Adhere to card. Overlap hair slightly.
4. Use sponge to add Kiwi Kiss ink to the Kiwi circles. Cut one circle in half to make eyebrows. Adhere to card with dimensionals (PLEASE USE ONLY ONE DIMENSIONAL PER EYEBROW.)
5. Cut a nose shape out of the remaining Kiwi circle, and use a dimensional to adhere it to his face.
6. Use black marker to add “smile” and scar.
7. Stamp “boo” inside, if desired.

Rhonda - Welcome back! I'm praying for the continued recovery of both your parents!

Jen - I'm sure whatever you decide on for your workshop will be beautiful. I do like those Frankies though!!

Paula - I can't imagine how stressful this would be...but you have remained so calm! You are amazing!

Shoot Paula--sorry about the delay! Hugs!

I want to do a bunch of stamping today too, but DD (2yo) has been eating all morning. I barely get anything done for her wanting more cheese, an apple, etc. I did feed her some Rice Krispies this morning too--must be a growth spurt.

I made the Top Note Frankie with my club (I used a top note on the bottom scored 3 times instead of a box to save paper) and they loved it too. I also saw some of the old style candy bar sliders as frankies in the gallery that were cute too.

Work was nothing more than depressing today...I worked for an hour although I was there for 2.5...boss has decided that we need to layoff 2 of 5 guys on Monday. The 3rd is not far behind...talking about selling one of the trucks and I am cutting back to 3 days instead of 5 a week. Really that does not mean much to me only that I will save gas and wear and tear on the vehicle for only driving in 3x. I still should avg 15 hours a week. Boss was not in a happy mood and it is overcast and gloomy here so it just added to the mood.
I came home turned on all the lights in the house, turned on some music and got busy...not sure what motivated me but...I made banana bread (4 mini loaves), chicken casserole for dinner tonight is ready for the oven, did dishes, two loads of laundry, sent off a "special" delivery for Jen and am working on my projects for Nov 1st class. I have all my retired stamps marked and listed and ready to go for tomorrow's sale. Stopped at the bank and got cash for that too. Also filled the bird feeders.

Sorry work was depressing Lisa! I started bunches of pulled pork this morning at 8, and it is about ready for Barbecue sauce. We'll have corn on the cob and ranch potatoes (baked in the oven served with sour cream) for sides. Hopefully, 6yo DD will want to bake some cookies for dessert with me here pretty soon. She gets addicted to the tv....

Oh man, Lisa, sorry to hear that work is so depressing. That stinks. Your afternoon sounds wonderful though...maybe I need to do some baking! I am planning on making your pumpkin bars next week for when my parents come to town. I know if I make them this weekend, there's a chance I'll eat the whole thing! LOL! I'm afraid to guess what the special delivery is - I'm already going to say that you shouldn't have.

Thank you all for your PM's. I figured I should tell you so you know why I'm in a crabby mood.

Ranch potatoes...mmmmm....how do you make them? Are they cut up and baked or whole? Those sound so yummy for this time of the year.

-Cut up with olive oil and powder/dry ranch dressing mix....easy peasy, but my girls eat them even better than baked potatoes.

I'm afraid to guess what the special delivery is - I'm already going to say that you shouldn't have.
Not sure what time your workshop is tomorrow, but I think you need to be home to receive...it's not USPS mail...and yes I should have, you deserve it

Sorry work was so gloomy. Good heavens, I got tired just READING all you got done after work! LOL!

Okay - so I have not stamped a thing yet, but my craft room is organized again. I don't feel like I am being crowded in and can now feel like I can get something done. And I feel so much happier now that it is cleaned up.

I should go clean my craft room. Probably won't though. LOL I have a bunch of stuff made for club on Tuesday.

Tonite is the Boise State football game, so we're having "game night" at home.
