San Antonio is about 1.5 hours South of Austin. It's airport is larger than the one in Austin, although both are international airports.
Austin is the state capital, the home of Sixth Street, the University of Texas Longhorns, and Austin City Limits on PBS. It's the Berkeley/San Francisco of Texas. There are a lot of muscians, politicians, hippies, California transplants (BLECH!), rich people, and profession students. It's where I've lived since 1998.
San Antonio is the third largest city in Texas, the home of the Alamo, the Riverwalk, Fiesta, and the San Antonio Spurs (I love you Manu Ginoboli!!!). It has a distinctly Latin flavor, and although I wasn't born there, I grew up there so I L-O-V-E it. It's also home to several military bases.
MWAH!
And what is the main export? Gross National Product? Average Rainfall?! :p
I think when you're drunk, EVERYTHING TASTES YUMMY, and that's the way it was the 1 x I ever went camping, b/c like you mama, I loves my bed and my shower. But the place I went to, had nice bathrooms, showers, and I slept on an air mattress, so I wasn't exactly "Rugged campin". If we have a get together at our new house, we have 80 acres, which includes a 2 acre pond, and lots of land to go camping, bonfire, cookout, etc. So that way, if anyone wants to sleep in the bed, they can just head back to the house!!!!
And of course, bottles of the best California Red wine ;) (and a 6 pack of Coors for Pete!)

Who do you think you're talking to lady? Those who camp with me get grilled NY Steak with sauteed mushrooms and bell peppers with boiled red potatoes the first night, pancakes, bacon and eggs for breakfast, we do bratwurst and sandwiches for lunch, and red sauce with sausages and penne pasta for dinner the second night ;) And if my sister comes too, I can't even stop her from bringing even more food.
Desserts are cherry Ho bo pies and of course, roasted marshmellows and smores ;)

I have already decided that where-ever the next HCP is, when my house gets done, everyone is invited over. Manda and Heather already want to come down to take a trip to the river-boats for an evening. We can camp out, have a huge bon-fire, stamp, go shopping in Lil Nashville, pole dance, and have tons of fun.

Not so bad...thanks for asking! Was sick with a cold that I got from dd for about 5 days, my friend's dh passed away but my sis came into town (who I miss dearly) so it kind of balanced out...does that make sense?

yes. I knew about the friends DH, bless her heart, I can't imagine. Hopefully the cold is better! Doesn't it seem like when it rains, it pours? Take care of yourself, good to see you back on here with us!

I also live in Austin. Only a couple of miles from Rae Anne. I've been here since 2001. It's a great place to live...I can't wait to see you all here!
I also lived in San Antonio. Went to college there. Loved it too.
I would recommend flying into Austin. Unless you find significantly lower flights (like saving $200), I'd fly to Austin. Much easier. And you don't have to deal with traffic in 2 major cities...just one.
I'll be happy to pick anyone up from the Austin airport that needs a ride.
OMG...are you sure she's not Texan? She looks at home in those boots and that hat!! WHAT A FRIGGIN' CUTIE PIE!
Well ya never know ! This week she is a cowgirl...LAst week she was a Jr. Ho, and the week before she was a qween-pwincess-wain faiwy-ballewima!
OK - I'm not even going to try and catch up right now...I am in the same boat Yoorah. When my DD was born almost 10 years ago, I decided I was going to scrapbook. I should have stuck to the plan I had with my oldest - just stick the pictures in an album 'cause I'll never make the time to scrapbook! Yup, 10 years later do I have a completed album? No...but I sure have lots of empty ones and a store's worth of supplies...
Carly Simon
Youre So Vain
You walked into the party
Like you were walking onto a yacht
You had strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror
When you watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner and
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you don't you
You had me several years ago
When I was still quite naive
Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved
And one of them was me
I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffe
Clouds in my coffe and
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I guess you think this song is about you
Don't you don't you
I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffe
Clouds in my coffe and
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you don't you
Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga
And your horse naturally won
Then you flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun
Well you're where you should be all the time
And when you'e not you're with
Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend
Wife of a close friend and
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
ou're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you don't you

That sounds a dandy plan to me...course we would have to squeeze in a ballgame (Nashville has an AAA team) ;)
I'm suppose to be taking inventory of my CM scrapbooks. They're changing their size so need to figure our how many refills I need for the original 12x12 I've hoarded through the years Instead, here I am, playing as usual ;)
What????
I have some 12X12 CM refills packed somewhere if you need em. Just LMK!
So far, it looks like either Ohio as that is where the most people seem to be able to make it (Texas looks like is having a turn since a lot of Hos will be there for the Austin swap) or NC since you've been so gracious to offer to organize the details.
We're still in the gathering opinions phase.
In the spirit of gathering opinions...
I think either OH or NC would be doable for me. BUT I have a very complicated schedule and a chronic illness which take precedence. So I am just hanging out watching.
I can't do TX in Oct. Funny thing, out of the blue DBF told me we have lots of miles on the credit card if I wanted to go someplace and my immediate thought was HO DOWN. But then I thought I should probably take DD to see her uncle in AZ. At which she responded, "Who is Uncle Kevin?" Yup, my point exactly...
BTW, I go to bed early and wake up to FOUR pages?! I am still on the first one...
I ask Yoo-Rah all the time, and she's never given me a satisfactory answer, so it's you're turn. . . Why on God's Green Earth would anyone choose to sleep with mosquitos, forgo showers, and pee in the dirt. . .UGH!!! ;)
1. We don't tend to get bothered by the mosquitoes as we have bracelets that keep em away.
2. When you spend all day in the pool or the lake, who needs a shower???
3. I only pee in the dirt at 3AM when I am too tired/lazy to walk to the facilities.
(As you can see my camping is in campgrounds. Some may call it "fake camping", but I refuse to camp anywhere there is no bathroom.)
But who can resist cooking over a fire, watching DD catch frogs (I REFUSE to touch them myself, they are all hers) staying up late under the trees and the stars??
