CLOSED & CREATING!

You’re invited to the 5th NEPA Stamp & Swap, a day of stamping, friendship & fun! There’s a lot planned so please read everything below & if you still have questions, PLEASE ASK!

THEME: Have a Holly Jolly Christmas”. It’s NOT mandatory to use the theme (unless you enter the contest) but are encourage to use it in your shoebox project or any of the swaps.

COST: $25.00 per person includes the venue, bottled water, paper products, and a small gift bag. All funds collected will be spent on the event.

REGISTRATION: Mail your registration form & payment to Lou Ann McGuire (address is on the form). There are no refunds once the event is closed but you may offer your spot to someone else. Registration must be paid no later than 5 pm on Saturday, October 5th.

COMMUNICATION: Splitcoaststampers Forum "Get it Together" will be the main way of communicating including the final numbers & other information for the event. Please subscribe to the event & check-in even after the event is closed for updates especially as the event gets closer.

ARRIVAL TIME: Doors open at 9:00. We will begin introductions at 9:45 so we can start stamping by 10:00am.

MANDATORY SHOEBOX PROJECT GUIDELINES:
• A full card with QUALITY cardstock (CS) layers & embellishment(s) or a simple 3D item. Make
the project something you’d be thrilled to get yourself.
• Projects should take NO MORE THAN 5-10 minutes to complete.
• Bring all the supplies to complete your project including any special adhesive & tools. Making kits are encouraged.
• Supplying envelopes or sleeves are optional.
• You need to pre-cut & score the cardstock. To reduce the time of your project, you can punch, die cut or emboss but DO NOT pre-stamp.
• Please bring a few extra parts to fix any "oopies".
• Projects will be set out in the morning. YOU will move, YOUR PROJECT will not.
• Write up CLEAR DIRECTIONS to post by your project unless it’s very obvious what to do. But please keep in mind what may be obvious to you may not be to someone else. Please include your name.
• During introductions, you will VERY, VERY BRIEFLY explain reminders or anything NOT in your directions. If your project needs directions but you are unable to print or hand write them, please contact Lou Ann.
• You will need to bring THREE (3) completed shoebox projects; one is a sample for your project at your table, one is for someone who signed up but moved (you will received her completed shoebox project in exchange) & one is a Thank You given to the church which will be put & left on the display board.
• When you know what your shoebox project is, please post a name for it on SCS or send me a PM.

Tip: This day will be a lot of fun but as you complete the projects, consider doing the part(s) of the projects that have to be done at the event (stamping & die cutting), take a photo of the sample then assemble later during the event or at home. This may help everyone get through all the projects.

************************************************** *************************************

CONTEST: We want to see if you can “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas”! There will be an area set up to enter your shoebox project, swap(s) or any other project you've made but it needs to use the theme. I suggest making an additional item since votes will be cast through lunch. The winner will be announced prior to the end of the event. Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!!

FOOD: There is a refrigerator but no oven. Please indicate on the registration form the specific food item you will bring. Bottled water will be provided; please bring your own soda, etc.

DOOR PRIZES: Our goal is to have something for everyone. Donations for door prizes (stamping related) are welcome.

GIFT SWAP (not mandatory):
• Bring a gift related to stamping.
• Everyone who brings a gift to swap will leave with one.
• Value should be in the $5-10 range.
• Stamped handmade projects are appreciated! If it’s something you’d like to take home, it’s probably perfect!
• Include your name somewhere inside so the lucky winner knows who to thank.
• Wrap it up pretty so it’ll be a surprise until we’re done swapping.

EMBOSSING AREA: We will have areas set up with a heat tool & 2 Big Shots for embossing & die cutting so no need to bring your own. You will need to bring the embossing powders for your project with a tray/paper plate, etc. or embossing folders/dies for your project.

NAME TAGS: Since we all want to make new friends, please bring a name tag & include your SCS name if you have one. Stamped handmade name tags are beautiful & fun to see how creative we can get but we will have generic name tags available too. Or you can bring that cutie you received if you attended last year!

GARAGE SALE: Bring your stamps and stamping supplies to sell or trade. Current Stampin' Up! items must be offered for trade only but you can sell retired items. There is a limited amount of room so please only bring 1 tote. There will be a few tables but if you can leave your items in a tote there will be chairs to set it on. Make sure you label your items and tote with your name so buyers know who to pay. Payment arrangements are between you & the buyer(s). We are not responsible for missing items so bring at your own risk. There is no fee to sell or trade at this event.

OTHER:
- Label your personal stamping tools which you may use including scissors, bone folder, paper cutter/scorer, scissors, straightedge, etc.

First question of many....

Do the ornaments have to be made with paper? Or can they be other materials(not glass)?

Any material is OK but they usually have some paper or stamping on or in them. I've attached a photo of one our swaps to give you an idea.

Wish I lived a little closer. I'd definitely be there. Have a great time. (Miss you & Lisa)

Lizzytishheller 08-31-2019 03:58 PM

question(s) from a newbie.

The ornaments can be of any material? Not just paper? (I know not glass). Any pics from previous swaps?
Also, is there any facebook groups for us locals? Wondering if i am missing out on anything.
Im really looking forward to meeting everyone and having fun:)

Crooked Stamper 09-01-2019 05:05 AM

We use other things as a base like plastic, metal, wood, etc. but have something stamped on/in the ornament or use paper on it. As far as a FB group we don't have one but you can subscribe to this one so you get email notification when someone posts.

Here's the only ornament photo I have at the moment because I'm not home.
