MI UP/NO. WI SHOEBOX
The Stamping Group from Iron Riverm Michigan will be having a Shoe Box Card Event on November 6, 2010. It will be held at the Porter School in
Alpha, beginning at 9:00 a.m. (central time) We will need a minimum of 25 people to hold this event. The cost will be $10.00. This will include lunch. We hope to have a number of give aways (donations accepted for unused stamping items). We will also be having a Dirty Gertie. Reseverations must be received by September 25th. Money is due by October 10th. Reservations can be made to me: Barb Bacsa (GrandmaUpNorth) - [email protected] Checks are payable to me: Barb Bacsa P.O. Box 185 Amasa, MI 49903 Any questions? E-mail me. For those who don't know: A Dirty Gertie is a fun game using dice and 3 cards you have made. They may be the same card - or 3 different ones. Wrap them up (anything from a brown sandwich bag to as elaborate as you want to make it). Its easy to play, and lots of fun. The Porter School is now a "mall" that includes a restaurant (who will be catering the event), and a number of shops that will be open, including one that sells some stamping supplies. Feel free to bring your cameras. The only supplies you will have to bring are your paper cutter, scissors, and adhesive of choice. And of course, your shoe box cards. Hope to see you there. We are "suggesting" a Holiday card for your shoebox (Thanksgiving, Christmas). This is a suggestion, and not mandatory. Thanks Helen, for your quick response. We already have a couple people signed up. I'm looking forward to it already.

Hi Barb,
Just got back from a week with my granddaughter. What fun!!! Anyway...yes, yes, yes I'll be there. Will get the registration in the mail this week. Will also remind my 2 card groups. So happy you decided to do this. |
I'll add your name to the list. Looking forward to seeing you.
|
How are you doing with registrations so far? Anything we can do to help?
|
So far, we have 17 registered. I'm hoping to get at least 8 more. Lisa has been talking to some of the stamp stores - and we will have some great prizes! I'm so excited. Hope more can join us. It will be a fun day! I'll be posting a list soon.
|

Barb, I have to apologize. I thought I dropped the envelope in the mail but found it Friday in a pile of other things I needed to order. It is on the way now. One of my groups met today and you should have at least 3 more in the mail later this week.
|
Thanks for letting me know. I was going to e-mail you if I didn't get it in the mail. So far we have 19 people. Will up date the list later. I'm getting excited about this. We will have people from Baraga, Iron River, Iron Mountain, Eagle River, WI., to name a few. Some familiar faces, and some new ones!
|
WAA-HOO! Its a go! We have our 25. If we get more, that's ok too. If we think its too many, we will break it into groups. I will give a final count early in October (by the 11th), so we know how many cards to make. The reservations are coming in, and we're all excited. I think I know what card I'm going to do, but I'm not positive.
|
Yeah!
Wow..great numbers. It should be fun. I will be gone for a week or so but will check in for the final ##s just as soon as I get back. I actually already started!! See you in November! Helen :D

Hi Barb,
Any new things we need to know yet? Looking forward to seeing everyone. I ran in to Lisa at the Houghton Wal-Mart last week-end. She said it's all going well. Is 25 the final number? And 1 more question...who do we have coming from my area...trying to work out rides. |
I will have a final count and list later this week - probably Tuesday. I forgot there is no mail delivery on Monday. I think we well towards 30-35. We will be giving you the option of making half or all of them. I know 30+ would be a lot to do in one day. What do you think???
|
30 is a lot but you need a good plan if you split the group. It didn't work the year we tried it. People didn't stay in their group so some cards ran out and other people went home with a bunch of their own that nobody did. Too many people wanted to pick and choose the cards they liked. I hate to see people who have a card nobody really wants to make. There has to be a good way to do the splitting and making it stick. If there are 30, I'd say go for all. If more than 30 it's a tough call. I hope this made sense to some degree. Good luck.

STAMPING IN THE UP HOLIDAY STYLE
The time is getting closer, and we have the final information for you. We will be meeting on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Porter School in Alpha, Michigan. Directions will follow this information. We have 36 ladies participating. It was a hard decision, but we decided to have everyone make 35 kits. We will be meeting at 9:00 a.m. Lunch is included. We will be doing the Dirty Gertie card exchange participation is optional, but fun! Bring your three cards (wrapped, so no one knows which cards are yours), if you want to participate. We also will have lots of give aways. If you wish to donate some new stamping item, feel free to bring it with you. The Porter School in Alpha is very easy to find. If you are coming from the south, come up Route 141/2, turn left on 424 and take it into Alpha. From the north, come down 141 cross over US 2, onto the Tobin-Alpha Road. Stay on this road (about 4.3 miles) until the first stop sign, turn left you are in Alpha. The school is on the rotary multistoried building on the north end of the rotary. Parking is also available on the street behind the school, or along the road next to it. Try to avoid parking in front, as to leave these spaces for the caf clientele. We will be handing out a roster with everyones name, address, etc. If you do not want your name or some specific information included, please let me know as soon as possible. Remember to bring your shoebox, adhesives, scissors, and sense of adventure. Looking forward to seeing all of you there. If you have any questions, feel free to call Barb Bacsa 906:822-7239 [email protected] Kathy Ball 906:875-6161 [email protected] |
Oh Man! I am so jealous! I feel so bad for myself! tee hee hee!
I can't make it because it is my granddaughters' second birthday party and it was the only weekend they could do because of her dad's shift work. You willl all have so much fun and so much talent to share! I'll be with you in spirit and thanks for the invitation! Maggi |
Maggi, so sorry you can't join us. We have a good turn our, and know we will lean a lot of new things, and have a great time. Maybe you can join us next time.
|
Barb, some of the girls are having a problem with the number of cards to prepare for. When ordering designer paper, nobody planned for such a high number. Some may have to come with 2 different cards. I hope that's okay. Any ideas?
|
I'm having the same problem myself - but its a good problem. I see nothing wrong with using different color combinations, similar papers, etc. Go for it! There are no stamp police!!
|
Sounds good. Thanks. Nice chatting with you last night.
|
Wow!!! Our stamping neighbors to the south put on a wonderful shoebox event today. Everything was perfect. Good company, good food and 33 beautiful cards to make. Kudos, girls. You did a fabulous job. Can't wait until next year.
