Cherie, I am so glad to hear you say that. I do think it will be fun and as Sara said, it could be just a hot mess! We will have to see how we do. It's something new for me to try and I think for many. Had a wonderful time yesterday and so enjoyed your company.

Gosh, I really feel bad, I'm afraid I won't be able to make the Amish store tour either. Things are pretty tight financially right now so I'd better skip this time. Hopefully I will be able to catch the next one!

Maryland Anyone...........? II-playin-018.jpgFor those of you not at the SBS, I am attaching a scan of the card that started this. I just loved it! I was so amazed that a process I had read about, that looked so messy, could produce such beautiful background colors.
This card was designed by Michelle (Mish) who is Rose's daughter and quite talented.

Must dig out my reinkers! This IS going to be fun. It's been a LONG time since I've done this technique!

If you attended the SBS yesterday, you all saw the card designed by Rose's daughter, Michelle. It was wonderful. She did a marvelous swirled background with orange and black and whatever. She even gave me the "extras" because I was so enthusiatic about them. This is a bit messy and may take a bit of time for folks that have never done it, like me. So you have a dealine of TWO WEEKS from today to get your cards in. Now there is no excuse not to try it. If you are unsure how it goes, check out the resources page in Splitcoast, Shaving Cream..........easy peasy. Just need to get a few supplies........

I am looking forward to seeing everyone's creations.

Hi girls! What a fun day yesterday! Great cards, food, and lots and lots of laughter - the best part! I so enjoyed laughing and hearing all the laughter around the room.

Looks like we'll have to push our Amish trip until next year then - we just all have busy lives and with the holidays coming up, it might be best.

I've done the shaving cream background once years ago with my step-daughter. It's messy, but lots of fun. The best way we found to do it was to buy the aluminum jelly roll disposable pans and cheap spatulas at the dollar store, so everything could be tossed when we were finished. We made backgrounds all day long in all sorts of color combos.

I'm glad some of you have already tried this technique and lived to tell about it. I will be getting the shaving cream tomorrow and trying it out. I will also try to talk Sara into coming over to make the mess with me!

Loretta, per previous post:

So you have a deadline of TWO WEEKS from today to get your cards in.

See Michelle's awesome creation for inspiration as she is very talented! Rose, your daughter is a delight.

Since the Amish store tour is cancelled I will mention this, (not sure if I did before.) The group of demos I belong(ed) to does a used stamp sale every year in Columbia. It is on Nov 7 this year. Everything is at least 40% off and you can sometimes find stamps you missed out on buying in the past. It is mostly SU! but not 100%

Default Adventures in Shaving Cream!

Ok, so here is the fun and true story.

This is the first time I have ever tried the shaving cream technique.

I went upstairs and got hubbys shaving cream. Went to the kitchen for a spacula and a metal disposable pan.

Came down, hubby on phone with sister at the time.

My glee of the emerging patterns and colors got his curiosity up.

"What are you doing" --< him

I cant wait to tell Michelle you are doing her shaving cream thing. I like that technique cause you can do any custom colors you need. Havent done it in a long time tho. I had to learn to NOT over mix the colors - instant weird colored soup. I might try to get a card done for this one now that the big swap is over.
Sarah - yes we NEED that recipe. I didnt realize you made it. I had two pieces.
Michelle (Silly) - definitely want that cake/pudding recipe. Had 2 of that too. OK, now I admit when it comes to sweets - I am an addict. My name is Rose and I am an addict.

Well Rose, since you started it I might as well confess too. My name is Kathi and I'm an addict.

Maybe we need to start our own Sugar Addicts Anonymous group! Not that I really want to recover though!

ETA: While we're confessing, I stole a piece of the pumpkin choc. chip bread and had it for breakfast this morning....

Nice job Loretta. Glad you tried it out. My turn will come sometime this week. Rose, I told you I was impressed with your daughter's creation. I posted her card as the sample because I really liked it. I can't wait to try it. I am glad you are going to try it too.

Oh yeah, and as much as I want to join Tracy and Amanda is LOOOOSING weight, I too am a sugar addict and Sara doesn't help matters by being such a great baker.

Greetings from the Shenandoah Valley. Looking forward to a week full of fun and relaxing. We already have Monday and Tuesday booked! Monday we are going to lunch with our DD and her boyfriend, a craft show/wine and beer tasting in the afternoon and then dinner with DD. Tues we have a breakfast, winery tour and then a murder mystery dinner.

I will have to wait until I get home next week before trying the challenge as I have no reinkers or shaving cream here! Did bring a *few* stamping supplies though...

What a wonderful place to be this time of year! Of course it's always beautiful there at any time! DH and I have a favorite campground in Verona, near Staunton. Have a fabulous time! I'm very jealous!

Jeaneen, I am disappointed....you didn't bring the shaving cream and reinkers? You should always be ready for stamping! I hope your daughter's affair is marvelous and you have a terrific time.
Rose, I hope your daughter doesn't mind that I put her card up? Let me know and I will take it down if necessary.
Amanda, dinner is on me Thursday........hope you are kicking butt and taking names and getting better!

Oh, I hope you have a fabulous week! The Shenandoah Valley is just so beautiful. We stayed in the park last summer for a couple of days at Skyland Resort. Loved it and hope to go back again- hopefully in the fall.

Have fun, enjoy all of your activites!!

Morning, All. I was actually cold out this morning, at 8, walking my furry man. We both could see our breath! I love Fall, wish it would just stay cool. Mary - I love that you put the swap cards on your blog - I have something to reference when I am finishing up making mine!! One day, I will be able to complete them all there...Sigh...OK - we all have to have a dream!!!!

Default Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

You know it makes my fat cells sing to hear other's enjoy my baking.
I LOVE to bake for others. Sweet Addicts unite!
Dessert is the main course; the rest is just a formality.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

Dry Ingredients
3 cups flour
3 cups granulated sugar
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt

Spices: (I like spice so you can use less if not)
4 1/2 tsp pumpkin spice mix
1 tsp cinnamon.

2 to 2/12 cups of semi-sweet chunk chocolate chips.
I think the chunks hold up better in the bread.

Wet Ingredients
4 eggs
1 cup canola oil
2/3 cup water
2 cups canned, plain pumpkin (or one 15 oz can b/c they don't sell 16 oz cans any longer *may want to use a little less (tsp?) spice then*)

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 F.

Combine all dry ingredients, except chocolate chips, in a large mixing bowl and mix well.

In a separate bowl, slightly beat the eggs with a fork or wire whisk. Add the remaining wet ingredients to the eggs and stir well. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir just until evenly mixed.
Dust choc chunks with light amount of flour and then fold chocolate chunks into batter. That way they don't all settle to the bottom of the bread when baking.

Coat 2 bread pans evenly with cooking spray. Pour half of the mixture into each pan.
Bake for 50-60 minutes. I test at about 50 mins and if I have to bake longer, I line the sides with foil to prevent burning and then bake longer as needed.

Cool bread for about 5 mins on rack then flip out of loaf pan. It is a pretty dense bread so I doesn't take long before flipping it out.

Optional: Dust with confectionary sugar before serving.

This recipe can be halved pretty easily but the bread freezes so if you are already making a mess ...

Thank you for such a fun day and great cards. It is good to have moments of joy.

Great cards from the SBS ladies. Some day I will have a clear enough schedule to go to one again. Dumb husband doing stuff like working getting in the way of my fun

Thanks Sarah. Another one to save. I cant wait to try these new recipes, not sure when it will be since I dont entertain much, but i will do it. Oh well, guess I will just have to eat banana bread and trifle ALLL by myself! Sarah I like your attitude! How come you aren't overweight????? Are you one of those women who bake all the time but dont eat sweets. I have a couple friends like that.

I hope you feel better soon. The bladder will settle down, it took mine a couple of weeks post surgical.

I still want one of your packages so I can do your swap card, I was so brain dead -- sorry about that!

Jeaneene; Enjoy your trip!

Mary; Thanks for posting the cards to your blog.

Sarah; Thanks for the recipe, sent DH to store on a mission for pumpkin filling.
Apparently there is a shortage of pumpkin (canned) this year due to last year's drought. My Step daughter is on a hunt for some.

Kimmee; I'll send your check out tomorrow. I haven't forgotten. Thanks for getting the coasters to Stacy.

Stacy; When are you doing another scency order? I need another warmer.

Cherie and Tracy; It was so much fun sitting at the 'cool' table . I really enjoyed the SBS, lots of laughs and really terrific cards. I really enjoyed doing the shaving cream background. So much so I told DH to pick up cheapy shave cream just for me. His response was 'how much do you plan to make' heavens I don't know!

Off to clean up and head out for my violin lesson!
