Just one more day here in Maine! Today was gorgeous - NO rain NO fog and it was HOT by Maine standards (70s - yes the folks here think that is HOT!) The Mainers (or Mainiacs) up here would just die in Maryland... We plan to pack up tomorrow and leave in the wee hours Thursday morning (4AM is our goal), so we should be home in the early evening. It is *only* a little over 600 miles, but we stop a lot - especially this trip as mom fell (got quite the shiner - all the way to her chin and twisted her knee - she is swollen to her foot!) and needs to keep moving, even though it is hard to do so and hurts - but that is better than getting totally stiff!

Two of the stores take credit cards. The rest take cash and checks. FYI - Once we are out on the beaten path, ATM's aren't on every corner. We might not see an ATM machine for a good bit, so you better load up on cash before we leave or put it into your checking account to write checks.

With the talk of food for Saturday, are we packing our lunch? There are good places to eat up there that don't break the bank, and they even have a Sonic on Rte. 30 now. Haven't been to it, but I know it's there. Just let me know - I don't care either way. We can always pack lunch and have a picnic in a shady spot.

Janeen. Your poor mom. Make sure you take care of her on the way home. Stop as often as you need, and take your time.

I love my EZ pass. I didn't have it for my last trip to Ohio and I missed it.

Thanks for your well wishes for my mom! She fell on the deck two weeks ago today and is still quite a mess! The ER doc glued her "new eyebrow" back together. She had xrays and CT scans - nothing was broken, but she bruises very easily and is purple head to toe - what a sight! Fortunately it was cool and she was wearing a parka, so that protected her body and arms! She is just now beginning to be able to bend her knee due to both pain and swelling. I can imagine it's gonna be a long trip on Thursday... She is frustrated - gee imagine that! But at 89 she is still spunky and tough as ever!

Thanks! I am anxious for some of that MD heat and humidity (did I really say that???) This was the first *hot* day we have had. I got a call from my daughter this week who was trying to remember the name of a restaurant we visited in Ocean City. I gave her the name and said that maybe they aren't open this time of the year - then I remembered it IS the end of July which is OC's BIG season, not the fall which is what it feels like up here now...

No. Not a word. It is going on 7am Wednesday there. Hopefully, the Germans made it in with the spare parts and have managed to fix the plane. They couldn't just put these passengers on the other flight - as that one was already full...I was staying up to see if he would zap me with some news.

I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for both of you! I hope you hear from him soon and he is headed home! I'm saying a prayer for a safe trip for him and the rest of his plane-mates!

Thank you! He actually befriended another passenger, Ben. He happens to be a US Missionary - who speaks 30 languages. So, Ben has been very helpful in getting info from both the Ethiopians and the German crew.

so for my father-in-law's 50th birthday we were trying to be mean (over the hill balloons or a funeral flower arrangement LOL) but apparently it is really pricey to be mean hahahaha so he ended up with a very nice edible daisy arrangement (made out of pineapple and other fruits.

You know me, there's always food involved in everything I do! So whatever works for the group is fine with me, but I'm still bringing some snacks and drinks.lol

Hey DM,

Do you want to do lunch on Thursday too? If so let me know, so I can plan for the kiddos. God knows we only have one lunchable and 10 tv dinners left they might starve to death if I don't pick up more!

she's JUST like me when I fall.. I tell you the bruising and stiffness is worse than anything I think sometimes.

I am okay with doing the lunch thing or whatever. Unfortunately your kids can't miss any meals they are too dang skinny in the first place. can't have them wasting away.
get them a loaf of bread, they can slather it with apple butter.. have you actually tasted any yet? is it edible?
