Buckeyes

Ingredients:

2 cups creamy peanut butter, (not all-natural)
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine, softened
3 3/4 cups (16-oz. box) powdered sugar
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
2 tablespoons vegetable shortening

Directions:
LINE baking sheets with wax paper.

BEAT peanut butter and butter in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in powdered sugar until mixture holds together and is moistened. Shape into 1-inch balls; place on prepared baking sheets. Freeze for 1 hour.

MELT morsels and shortening in medium, uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 1 minute; STIR. Morsels may retain some of their shape. If necessary, microwave at additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until melted.

DIP peanut butter centers into melted chocolate using a toothpick, leaving a small portion of the center uncovered. Shake off excess chocolate and scrape bottom of candy on side of bowl. Return to baking sheets; refrigerate until chocolate is set. Store in covered container in refrigerator.

I plan on hibernating. I HATE winter in all it's forms. Of course I never once turned the AC on this summer either....anything less than 75 and I am cold....

Sounds like you all have been busy so far today. I just forced myself out of bed, so I can make sure the turkey is actually defrosted in the refrig so I can put it in the oven today for tomorrow.

Plus I found a cute giftie idea in a recipe book and I want to try making some of them today. But I can't tell you what they are since you never know you may be getting one.lol

Hope you all are having a wonderful day.

I put my bird in the fridge on Saturday and it's still frozen guess it will be sitting in a tub of cold water in the garage tonight to defrost.

Relax, take an easy! I'm thankful all my pies are done and in the freezer. I just need to take them out tomorrow morning to thaw. I only have my sides to worry about in the morning, which will take no time at all, so we can eat at noon.

Oh, dear...just got a call from DS- he's decided to bake a pecan pie...he's not a baker or cooker for that matter! His stove hasn't been turned on for at least 19 months since he and his wife split up...now he's decided to make a pie...but...he's using a graham cracker crust. He said the recipe called for a
9-inch pie crust and that's all they had (I have since told him about the Pillsbury roll out crusts!). He called to see if I had any brown sugar. His was a brick (probably in the pantry for who-knows-how-long!) Anyway- I'll be interested to see how it comes out. He said if it 'looks good' he'll bring it to Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.

Pecan pie update...DS called, said he tried the pie. He said it was 'okay' but tasted to 'vanilla-y'. He thought it was the combination of the vanilla in the pie (maybe he put in too much?) and the graham cracker crust. He ate one piece and then threw the rest out. Oh, well. He tried!

And right back at ya!. the bird's going in in about 2 hours but in the meantime I have a kitchen to clean and quick run of the vacuum around the house...

May everyone's Turkey be moist and juicy and everyone's company be witty and charming and not spill red wine on your white carpet.

Happy Turkey Day!

Turkey is in the oven, my fingers are killing me from trying to cut up acorn squash. Pies are thawing out, potatoes are in the crockpot and the wassail is smelling oh so good. Over all running smoothly. Hope you all are having a wonderful day with family and friends.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING Everyone!

Our drive went well. We hit lots of snow and ice in WV and that really slowed us down but other than that it was a long but nice trip.

Enjoy your day!

Happy Black Friday. NO shopping for me, except online. Victoria's secret has a nice little one day sale so I am picking up some necessities. DH has Duty all weekend so he went in to check message traffic. I will be putting up the tree shortly and possibly dessicating a turkey carcass for soup...or something...

which came out wonderfully excect the skin didn't get as crispy as I woudl have liked. and all of us fought over the dark meat.....

No mall shopping for me, either...I did, however, run out to the post office which was nearly empty. Guess people gotta buy 'em before they can ship 'em!

If you go out shopping today- stay safe! I saw on TV 2 old ladies beating the begeebers out of an old man because he grabbed what they wanted!

I went to Kohl's and M's and am back. I wanted to get the girls Christmas dresses, but couldn't find anything that coordinated well enough that wasn't way too fancy. I might just get them all matching PJ's and take their picture in front of the tree like that. I did get them some toys and games though.

Hope you all have a good day!

Oh that will be really cute to have their pics in pj's! I love comfy family pics like that.

Last night DH and I went to Michaels to get a new Christmas tree at 50% off. He got up early and put it together for me...yay. So I came down and had the kiddos put on several packages of candy canes on it and told them it looked perfect and I didn't need to get out all the Christmas crap.he he That went over really well! But I can't get out the decorations until the kids go to sleep or back to school since they are in the very back of my closet under the stairs and of course I filled it to the rim with Christmas gifts...ugh. I hate having no space to hide stuff.

Hope you all have a great day!

No shopping for me today either. I straightened and reorganized my stamp area so I can get serious with making Christmas Cards now! Am getting ready to go visit my next door neighbor in the hospital, she was rushed to the hospital Wednesday evening and will probably be there a few more days. She's an older lady who lives by herself and has no family at all so one of the other neighbors and I are going to go visit.

That's so sad about your neighbor. She's very lucky to have great, caring neighbors! Sending her get well wishes...

P.S.- You wanna come and clean and organize MY stamp room???

Thanks Mary, yes it really is sad that she has no one but us neighbors to watch out for her and now she is battling breast cancer so we are really being vigilant in keeping an eye on her. She got so sick from the chemo and hadn't kept anything down for days. She's doing much better now and is able to eat and keep food down and looks a lot better than she did Wednesday night when they put her in the ambulance. She's so independent and stubborn, she won't ask anyone for help until it's almost too late!

Sure I'll come clean your stamp room as long as you come clean the rest of my house! Deal???
