I took off today to get some stamping done, but haven't done any, yet. I ran out earlier to go to the tailor to see about her making me a curtain for my kitchen door. I was able to buy curtains for the window but can't get anything to match for the door so I bought a matching fabric shower curtain and she's making me a curtain out of that. I could have done it, but I hate sewing and couldn't be bothered. On the way home I stopped by the All Things Country store. If you haven't been by there, you should stop in if you like 'country' decor. (If you're dog-phobic, don't go there, though. They have 2 wonderfully cuddly golden retrievers that hang out in the store. They're SO sweet!) I'm re-doing my kitchen and it's in a primitive decor- barn stars and saltbox houses. I like it. Now, if I could just get the rest of the house done, too!

When we were picking names RR was was brought up in the discussion, but we figured by using the feminine spelling and pronunciation (REE-gan)the link would be lessened. She is also loosely named after my niece, their first and middle names and switched (and the spelling changed.) My 19yo niece calls her "My Inverse," and the fact that Reg is a neat freak and my niece is not, only drives home the point

I'm sure the filling is just pepperminty perfect!

I LOVE All Thing's Country! Our mailbox came from there and I've purchased other things there too! And you know I love it when the doggies are there! I haven't been in a while, I'll have to stop in soon to see what they have for the holidays.

You are all making me jealous, here I am sitting here working and you guys are stamping, shopping and baking! It's just not fair!!!

I really need to stay off the computer- I'm gonna go broke! I made yet another online order to The Country House in Salisbury and then found another country store online called The Country Shoppe. I ordered wall paper border for my big kitchen wall. I usually hate putting up wallpaper, but border shouldn't be too bad- should it??

you know John stopped by that store while I was getting my hair done at the salon next door.. and told me I wasn't allowed to go.. so methinks I need to now, just to spite him....and the Italian deli on the end has my ancini de pepe which the commissary doesn't carry, the meanies.

Joy of joys.. BOTH sets of nesties came today, Huzzah. only I don't have an embossing mat so I can't emboss, but my first attempts to cut came out jes' peachy...Although I may try this plumber's gasket I keep reading about.. why spend ten bucks when I can spend 2, right?

oooh and I got flock too, white and yellow. the white of course for snow and the yellow I am thinking ahead for Spring. that set of Costco stamps has a couple of cute chickies.

You MUST go to All Things Country! It even SMELLS good in there with all the candles and potpourri! I heard there was a new store called Jennifer Crafts at the Marley Station Mall...I must go check that out! I found their website and they're located on the 1st floor, center court next to the elevator. I love crafts! If anyone is interested- there's a big Country Craft Show at the Timonium Fairgrounds this weekend in the Cow Palace. Saturday is 9-6, Sunday 10-5, I think and is $5 to get in. They usually have some great country crafts there.

As far as Pastore's, I rarely go there anymore- we used to get carry-out quite a bit at school since it's right across the street and occasionally for home, but they're food has gone down hill...glad you were able to find your ancini de pepe there (whatever that is- I'm not Italian!)

Thanks for the info about the craft show at Timonium! I hadn't heard about it but we've gone before and it's really nice! Thanks!

Tracy just wait until you see the Nov school calendar. Why is the no school on Election day?! Kids can't vote they need to be in school so parents can go vote! Why do they need a week off at Thanksgiving!?!?!?!

LOL I don't remember having all these days off when I was in school.

Kids don't have school on election day because they use the school cafeteria's as polling places. We vote at the local school. Guess they can't work around that. And even if they don't use ALL the schools, the district has to close all the schools if they close one.

I know what the heck is wrong with this school system. They are driving me to drink. I guess the closer you get to the white house the dumber they are.

so your gym doesn't have a separate entrance independent from the rest of the building? Granted ours was the 'emergency' exit but wasn't wired like all the OTHER emergency exit doors.

and by Library I mean Public, not School....

In El Paso, they use the high school gyms. How do I know this, we had a volunteer meeting and were asked not to park in the front of the school, so they voters could park there.

Many libraries, churches and firehalls are polling places, also. Yes, our gym has a seperate entrance for emergency exits, but it's impossible to block off entrance into the rest of the school. With all of the security the schools have put into place, there's no way that they'd allow students in the building during voting.

Talking about the elections, ya'll be thinking about me on Election Day, I'm an election judge and I'll be working from 5:45 a.m. until at least 10:00 p.m. that day. I just hope we're not so swamped that the Gov decides to keep the polls open longer than the normal 8:00 p.m. closing time like he did back in February in the primary when we had the ice storm! I have a feeling we're going to be SO busy that we'll be lucky to be able to go to the bathroom!

Cirq last night was really great, and I never knew about National Harbour! It's VERY nice down there, even with all the construction/renovations going on, and I think when it's completed it will be really a nice place to go. some very cool sculptures on the waterfront, and the shopping looks to be be shaping up nicely. Plenty of parking at rates that were not ridiculous.

and the food.. well let's just say I regret not going to Mccormack and Schmidt's sooner..... while having drinks in the sports Bar at the Gaylord, ran into a older lady whose DH is on his first deployment..after 31 years of marriage! he's been gone almost 2 years and she was sooo happy to find somebody who "got it".

off to clean up a smidgen, my cousin is coming by today to bunk here in anticipation of catching a Space A flight out of BWI or Andrews in the next couple of days. Gotta hide the Jelly Bellys, the Nesties and other small objects from the toddler and find time to crank out some more peanut butter cups and peppermint patties....

Dumb Question of the Day:

where do I find almond bark? I have never seen it at the commissary, and never shop at places like wally world, or a real grocery store, so where would I look in one of those places? One of my Mids has a special request..his birthday is coming up and he is desperate to get off campus, so I figured that would be the perfect time to try the cake balls.. cuz any leftovers he can bring Back to campus and share. well, what ever is left after John absconds with some, that is.....

I got almond bark a couple of years ago at Lauer's...not sure if it's a seasonal thing or if they even still carry it. Have you tried there or at Giant?

I get it at Walmart super centers or Alid's has it too. Most supermarkets carry it, usually where the baking chocolate chips are.

Good Morning. Hope you all get to enjoy yourselves today.

We are having a nothing day, but I FINALLY got dh to caulk our windows. It's only taken him a year to get around to it Hopefully now we wont freeze in our upstairs bedrooms this winter, because I really don't want to think about having to replace them.
