I would like to spend a little time this long weekend thinking about the shoebox idea and maybe even start prepping. Do you think we would have maximum of 20? I can always recycle for other projects if I do too many.
A friend of mine gave me a cool book on "collage design" for my birthday. I might pull out one of the techniques from it and incorporate it into a project.
I thought we were .. I thought when the question was asked at lunch most people said they wanted to learn new things or have a project, then just work on our own stuff. I have so many swaps due in September, I do not care either way ... I can just bring my swap stuff over and work on that for the day.
If we do a shoebox thing, I would like to keep in "laid back". ;) Let's say you decide to make a card for your project ... you would bring all the necessary materials for ## people that are crafting that day. Let's say you were going to make a card with the Loads of Love set. You could do a full card or a card front .. and I think you would bring the card stock, any embellishments you used in your design, you could go ahead and stamp the image/words on card stock .. etc. Then, the only thing each of us would do is put it together at the get together. Yes, I think everyone should bring their own cutter, scissors, glue, tape, some extra CS .. the basics.
I think it would also be fine if you did not want to provide materials for a project, but wanted to teach a new technique .. you could bring the supplies for it. As an example, if you wanted to do the shaving cream technique .. you bring the cream, some ink refills, paper plates, plastic knives (or something to scrape with) and then maye provide a 1/4 sheet of CS for everyone to play with?
I saw a really cool idea on one of the crafting shows this week ... a mozaic. You cut up pieces of scraps (in small triangles) and arrange them on a sticky piece of paper in a random manner and then pour embossing powder all over and smoosh in for grout. Dust off and then heat. It turned out pretty cool. So ... if I decided to do something like this .. I doubt there is any way everyone would have time to tear up pieces of paper .. and do the whole project .. and I like you guys .. but "I ain't" tearing up 1 million pieces of paper! ;0 But .. if I supplied the sticky paper and maybe every scraps of paper that coordinated and a little thing of embossing powder you guys could try it at home.
Still don't know for sure what technique/project I will end up doing.

Then click on "Join Group" . . . you do have to join Yahoo, if you are not already a member.
. . . I made it a closed group because, although I know we want to include all SCSers in Arkansas, I don't think we necessarily want any wierdo out there to have access to the group . . . especially if we are going to keep a list of our real names, addresses, etc. SO . . . for a closed group, you have to send a request for membership which is approved by the 'owner' (this is me, at least for the time being).
Once you are approved, make sure and add your information to the Phonebook listed under Database (in the left hand column).
Anyway, this is a work-in-progress . . . Hopefully, the link above will work! If not, let me know!

Edited to add: There are several cool features that we might find useful . . . the ability to do polls and the calendar, for example. These might help to organize our meetings. I set it up so any member can post a poll, or to the calendar, etc.

YEAH!!! Sounds Awesome to me!!!! I am getting so excited...guess I should channel some of this excitement and run downstairs and eat! Then ask my dh where I can finally put my stampin stuff so I do not have to come up with something out of the boxes!!!

Sorry I didn't get this posted earlier! I have ended up cancelling my trip this weekend due to the gas situation there in Shreveport. Plus did not take his nap again today!!!!
We were still tied so I tore a piece of paper in two and wrote 17th on one and 24th on the other. I then folded them both alike and shook them. Then threw them in an embossing tray and mixed them up some more. Then I picked one and it was the 17th.
If everyone is okay with the shoebox idea I say lets do it!!! I will come back later with food ideas, if you have any let me know and I will put it all together!

Darcy - I would like to be included in any of the future get togethers, maybe Steph and I can come together. Can I still come to the get together on the 17th if my calendar is clear for that day? I've got to check and see if that is when DH is going to MS for disaster repairs with Centerpoint.

Wow, you ladies were busy here the last 24 hours! I would have been here last night but since school started on Tuesday for me I have tons of reading to do. Alas, this probably means that I won't be here as often as I would like. :(

Tracey of course you can come on the 17th! If anyone else wants to come please let me know. I will post a list of the people that I have that said they could come on the 17th in a little bit. If for any reason you will not be able to come please let me know so that we can keep an upto date list. I guess we should set a deadline to sign up for the 17th; Let's say that you need to be signed up by the 12th. If you think you might be able to come at all then go ahead and sign up. If you are not sure but might be able to come sign up! It would be better to have too many projects for everyone than not enough!

There should be a coupon for Micheal's tomorrow. Actually two. One for Sunday and Monday and then one for Tuesday through Saturday. At least that is how it has been in the past on holiday weekends.! I am waiting anxiously!!!

Sorry Hollie, I've only been to Michaels maybe twice since I left in mid-July. Since we live and work so close to base we don't venture into NLR much anymore, especially with the gas prices the way they are. But like Darcy said, usually they have two coupons on holiday weekends. Except they didn't for the Fourth of July weekend, which I thought was unusual. It sure was quiet and slow that weekend!
I went to hobby lobby yesterday....when i was suppose to be cleaning my stuff....anyway, they had scrapbooks 1/2 off. I bought 5. I only spent 35 dollars.
