I'm in Phoenix, AZ and I am trying to decide if it is worth the gas & hotel to go to the CHA supershow. I am interested in finding out what those of you who went to the Orlando show thought. Was it better than your normal stamp/scrap convention? Since it is an "all crafts" show, was there still a lot of stamping stuff? I am mostly interested in shopping and maybe some demo's, but probably not into taking classes. I am keeping an eye on what vendors will be there and if there are a lot that don't normally come to the Phoenix/Mesa conventions, that may be what makes/breaks my decision. I would love to hear about your experiences and/or opinions of the show. Thanks!
I'm still trying to do decide if I'm going as well. It's about a two hour drive from my house, and while it's not very far at all, I'm really trying to stick with our tighter-than-usual budget this year. I'd mostly be going to shop. I guess I'm wondering: are the vendor items discounted at all? Particularly copic (if they're even selling product there)?
My DD and I went to Orlando with our husbands. It was nice but I won't do it again.
We preordered the tickets but she still had to stand in line for over an hour for the wrist bands. I was using a motor cart but CHA was over crowded. The ladies were 97% friendly but you had a few very rude. All in all I'm glad we went but the booths were hard to see the products. As they say - Been there - done that LOL It was fun but I was very tired.

I also went to Orlando last summer. Did not have to wait more than 5 minutes for my wristband. The show was very busy but it was fun to be there. I am not able to go to Anaheim but will definitely go to Chicago this summer. the experience and the shopping are well worth it for a Canuck

I didn't see any discounted items like that-
I myself thought it was PACKED super busy, and the lines were LONG. If I wasn't there to help in a booth, I certainly would NOT go just to shop. (I prefer to shop online with a few less crowds!) However, if you are going to meet up with friends- then by all means- GO! it's a blast to meet so many SCS'ers!
If you are trying to stick to a budget, it is a bit like taking a kid into a candy store. ;)
I went to the CHA ORLANDO EVENT--it was the best event I have ever been to. I have been to many events, but this was my first CHA. I will definately go back if they are anywhere near Florida. They had so many new vendors with creative make & takes for free or maybe up to $3. Almost every booth had at least 1 project that you could watch and try the new equipment, to see if you liked it...before you buy it.
I now shop with at least 15 new vendors (to me), many from CA. Fridays are the best day to go, others are in work. But look out for Saturday and Sunday! LOTS and LOTS of people. Ladies, it's just not the time to bring a toddler or under-tween who will get tired after less than one aisle! (
And I love children. Let alone bringing dogs in purses. IT is loud and they were just shaking and shaking! :(
I did bring my own sandwiches, drinks, and snacks. There was nothing there in my opinion, worth eating. I kept them in the car...just make sure they won't spoil outside...or freeze in other places.
I say, GO and have a blast!
To the people near Orlando...it you are in the Longwood area, please pm me! We can get together and stamp!
I actually did see quite a few deals there...it seems like every vendor had some type of show special. Also I heard a lot of people saying that they liked the idea of saving on shipping costs by buying at the show.
Most of the vendors at the show are also doing the make-and-take booth, and most of the make-and-takes are free, so that is another good reason to go to the show!
We were impressed by the attendance at the Orlando show and that's why we decided to have a booth at the Anaheim show. We think it will be even better now that the show has been "tested" in Orlando...CHA is saying that almost all the vendor booths are sold out for this show (which wasn't the case in Orlando). I think it's going to be a blast! Hope to see some of you there!
Eva was telling me that CHA will be in Chicago this summer, which is only 6 hours away from me and I will be attending that. I can't wait to meet so many of you!
I definitely wish I could go this year but I've got too many travel plans right now, including a trip back to CA next month to get my dad squared away as he's moving here with us in Kentucky. Then I'm going back in September to crash the 1980 30-year high school reunion with my girlfriend, several trips back to NY and then Chicago. I think I'm going to South Carolina in May.
I hope all of you have a ton of fun and I know you will!
I would go just to see all the new stuff Tim Holtz has. I am sure his booth will be busy. I wish I had the option of driving, I would go in a heart beat!
Well I went and it was a great show but my feeling was it was an over priced stamp/scrapbook show. Usually we have a stamp show the end of Jan in Riverside and then the big scrapbook show in Costa Mesa in Feb. Both are less to get into, free or cheap parking and a lot more bargins. I think more vendors overall too. I think I misunderstood too-I thought the entire show was open to the public so even if you didn't have a resale lic you could still at least see all the vendors and new things. I won't go to this show again. I still had a good time but it wasn't what I thought.
