It's another break time (my back is stiff 'coz we have awful chairs; used to have nice ones but they didn't fit when we moved and our storage unit was already packed.

I have 46 cards and need 60-65 (I asked DH which coworkers/former coworkers he wanted to send cards to and he keeps getting from people not on his list so my list grows longer every day.)

Seven cards can be hand delivered so that gives me an extra day to make them. Going to reevaluate the list to see who'll get Happy 2010 cards instead. I'm tired and the cards that do get mailed still need to be written in, stuffed in envelopes and labels applied. Then sorted into which ones might need extra postage.

Is anyone else still making holiday 2009 cards?

Cool! We can send some to Kenny for his peeps (if it's OK) and to From Our Hearts. I'll send an email to some people who aren't on SCS and see what date is good.

Still haven't started yet. My excuse - I am still waiting for the MDS cards to show up in the mail, which I procrastinated in ordering.

I have enough cards ready for mailing to siblings, uncles and cousins. Just ate lunch so now it's time to get out of my PJs and get to the PO. Most of the cards won't go through the slot on the Fiskars trimmer so they will need extra postage.

Might buy a supply of "extra postage" in case I get to write in/address the rest of the cards. There will still be folks on the list getting Xmas cards in January and I may have to make New Year cards 'coz I'm still short about 12-15 cards.

Tony's Dad is still doing well and we hope to get a better idea of how long he'll be in the hospital today. As much as he'd love to come home we really hope it is after Christmas (less stress all around and we can get a bit of a chance to relax; if he's home it will be the three of us in our apartment so we'll all miss the fun of kids at Christmas.)

Better log off ... I'm sure the line is looooong at the Post Office.

Happy Vacation!!!

So far I've already taken a nap. That's a great accomplishment since I've only been on vacation for about 4 hours!

To Mom's tomorrow morning. We celebrate on Christmas Eve. Albany area until Sunday, then Utica way!

No motivation to pack though.... thinking of going to sleep and just getting up early.

Tony's Dad is out of ICU but we still do not know how long they think he'll be in the hospital. He's not talking about coming home (he usual starts that after a day). We are still hoping we can keep our holiday plans. I know it's not thrilling to be in a hospital room but it isn't much more thrilling to be in our apartment on a holiday with nothing to do (no tree, no view, very little food - and none he should eat, etc.) It was actually the first time in awhile we were both looking forward to the holiday and I really hope we can still go.

(whine over and I'm saving the cheese for the antipasto LOL)

The nurse practioner (I know it's spelled wrong ... too tired to care) seemed to not want to say he won't be released that soon but also hadn't heard from the doctors. Also, there is a secondary health issue that hasn't been addressed (because of the emergency nature of the gallbladder) but that doesn't necessarily require hospitalization (until addressed).

We are supposed to bring the antipasto on Christmas Day (to DH's brother's house; enough for 15 adults). We usually do the cutting and assembling after breakfast but this year we are just bringing the stuff (including the trays) and will do the cutting etc. when we get there. This way if our plans get changed the goodies last longer unopened. We have 3 or 4 different types of cheese, pepperoni, salami and dried sausage, marinated mushrooms, artichoke hearts, black olives, green olives, roasted peppers and Stella Doro breadsticks. What does your DH put in his? My FIL once hollowed out half a loaf of italian bread and stuffed it with antipasto! He's going to miss that (he'll have to change to a low-fat diet not an occasional low-fat meal).

I only like black pitted olives (usually Lindsay brand). We could not find the gourmet breadsticks (starts with an A) and didn't have time to look elsewhere. The breadsticks are optional but my FIL likes them and everyone else buys ones with sesame seeds (he's not supposed to eat seeds or nuts but what do others know/care? Nobody ever asks us to remind them of what he can't have. Sometimes they don't even have a diet beverage for him to drink - and he's been diabetic longer than I know him!) and if we remind him he gets mad and pouty and if we let him he has too many (3-4) and feels unwell on the drive home. So we wanted to provide an alternative.

I want so badly to eat the mozzarella "pearls" and some pepperoni but am going to try to hug my pillow for the next several hours instead.

PS- thanks for the comment on my card!

part of his problem. comes from age
1. knowing he is the elder person in this family.
2. understanding/believing nothing he will do at this age will improve his health.
my grandfater always said"at my age what does it matter". and his dr admitted not much.

Hope everyone who is traveling today (or tomorrow) does it safely.

Arlene, I think you should pack some posh frocks.

Really, what do you need other than underwear? Maybe a toothbrush. Throw it in your pocketbook and all set!

I don't even own a posh frock anymore! Haven't worn a dress in years! It's an issue of shoes...I don't wear high heels and Birkis usually don't go with posh frocks even though I do have some pretty fancy Birkis. I think I may have a skirt or two...

Finally...it's officially VACATION!!! And I'm celebrating with the rest of the Moose Milk, Tilly! Getting a warm glow...

AND the Christmas letters are in the mail! A few went out in today's mail and a bunch more I stuffed in the slot at the PO this afternoon. WHEW! I can actually say they went out before Christmas!

Since DH is stressed out, headachy, and not even home from work, yet, we won't leave until early tomorrow morning. He wants to relax before we leave. I left him at work at 1 p.m. vacuuming and mopping the floors. I wanted to get to the bank before it closed.

I'm boiling a doz. eggs since they would probably not be good after another week. Deviled eggs yummy! Eat some today and breakfast tomorrow and pack the rest in the cooler to snack on while driving.

I may even STAMP today! Make a few kids birthday cards for SIL's gift. It is nice having home time before starting off on a trip. Need to pack our clothes, too.

Merry Christmas to all!! Remember the reason for the season! Wishing you great Christmas memories with your loved ones!
