Just got home from rehearsal- groom's family started from Westchester late, then screwed around in Binghamton, and got there an HOUR late. Needlees to say one little flower girl was mighty tired, when we started to practice.
She perked up when we had pizza and ice cream and cookies.
Hello all! Diane, I hope the weather is cooperating....either way, I'm sure it will be a beautiful wedding. What matters the most is the people who are there!
I hope the rain that is coming down in Dutchess county means a dry wedding ceremony/reception.
I'm trying to finish a Halloween swap (with a small group of relatively local friends) and decided I needed to dye some ribbon so it is drying and I'm online. I almost wish I had an iron but then Tony would think it was for de-wrinkling clothing!

Thank goodness I can reach the ones in the bathrooms because I am not doing this with a ceiling fixture! Better dut them off first 'coz you know I haven't been cleaning when there's been stamping (or just about anything else) to do. I even cooked two meals on THU (one for dinner and one for FRI's dinner ... and FRI had enough leftover to be a dinner one day next week).
tina - you can dry ribbon by putting it into an old coffee cup and hitting it with your blow dryer... the cup acts like a little tumble dryer!
I will remember that - the only bulbs I can access easily are in our Master Bath but Tony is asleep. He had a long day and is a light sleeper so I don't want to risk disturbing him.
The ribbon may very well be dry when I check in the morning but I want to do some form of heatsetting so the color doesn't run. I might use the dryer but am concerned about turning our clothes an orange-y color (I used Ranger's Distressed Ink in Dried Marigold to make SU's Apricot Appeal grosgrain ribbon more Halloween-esque!)

PS - Can I use my FIL's cup?
I didn't see any "rules" on that.... so I guess if ya want to:twisted:

She IS smart!! Of course, I would need to dye ribbon to need to dry it..... so I'm not at a huge risk of needing to know this tip anytime soon... ;)

I decided to be "nice" and put the ribbon in the hot dryer (laundry is on today's chore list) and ran it about 5 minutes. A lot less rubbed off but in the end I decided to rinse it out (I used white vinegar) and will probably use twill or crimp some cardstock. Almost all the ink came off the ribbon but it is very slightly more orange-y (or should I say dried marigold-y LOL) than apricot-y.
I have some orange ribbon (with yellow edging) that is too bright so I rubbed some Brilliance Lightening Black on it but I was too heavy-handed and it is now black instead of "aged". I need to let the project rest until tomorrow or Tuesday. The real problem is that I am undecided about what I want to do so I shouldn't do anything yet.
I'm so excited - Tony's nephew and his wife had their first child today! It's a girl but details (weight, height, length, name) are still unknown. Her due date was the 17th but I thought the baby (they didn't know the gender until her arrival) would come early because I thought she was pregannt when we saw them on Christmas Day (258 days ago).
DH's brother and his wife now have 3 grandchildren - a boy (will be 3 in October), his sister (will be 1 in November), and his cousin (born today!).

do they live on the island?
do you get to see them often?
nothing better than a new baby to spoil
If it becomes a lovely card it will (eventually) be shared. I almost always take photos but am awful about downloading (from the camera) and cropping/uploading (for sharing).
The only reason I even started messing with ribbon was 'coz I realized the card had no embellishments. It has several layers, incl. one of corrugated cardstock and one of colored mulberry paper plus a somewhat fussy-cut stack of Jack-O-Lanterns (colored with oil pastel crayons). I don't believe there were any embellishment requirements but if I can work something in (ribbon is usually easy) I will; otherwise I may just stick with my plain-jane (fits me) style.

They live and work in Brooklyn (not sure where - we see them at his parents' house on LI). Her parents live in Brooklyn too and her mother is retiring in January to care for the baby (first baby of only child - spoiled will be an understatement!)

Welcome new little one!!
Can't complain about built-in day care!! That's fantastic for htem not to have to worry about that at least!
can't wait to see pics and hear the name tina! My little nephew Daniel just turned 1 yesterday - what a cutie. Here's his pic...
He's adorable. Our new grand/great-niece will be named Alyssa Dallas (Daddy is a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team). I think it's fun and not too "out there."
