Thanks Linda....... great day. My only complaint is the fact that I DIDN'T DO MY JOB VERY WELL. I forgot some things that got missed in my last dash to finish.
Can someone tell me who won the recipe swap? The food one, not the technique one??

Default since you asked

Glad you had a good time-sometimes the planner just has a busy day

OKAY YOU ASKED:
On the way home we were talking and said we actually liked the time to talk with others too. Maybe it doesn't have to be the frenetic pace that it always has been.

Is there any law that says we have to rush and do all the shoeboxes in the am? How about taking more time on them? Bring out 4 in am and 4 in pm and 2 people work on each side by side? maybe do more complex but know that you have plenty of time. OR have everyone bring their fave tools, punches, embellishments, sponges, coloring tools (I'd bring Copics but Karen would have pencils and someone else would have WCC) etc look at the original and put their unique spin on it. Yesterday I actually had a second option for my card, but noone used it . I had a chicken stamp and the geranium-the chicken's nest could have been the flower soft. Maybe you could have a lead person at each table bring something like that just to get the creative juices flowing. Maybe no sample even done-here's your paper-do something with any of these stamps. More like the collaboration we get when we stamp together at my sister's or Gayla's.

The Make it and Take its are always nice, but they put a burden on the same people everytime. Sometimes they get waiting lines, just trying to get things done. It was very nice that Theresa loaned Gayla extra stencils for the project yesterday. I can't believe she prepped all the stencil paste for us. That was a LOT of work. Beautiful card though! THANKS GAYLA.

I don't mind doing demos and sharing techniques I love. To do that right requires some prep ahead, samples, swap outs (for dry time), instructions. Becky's was well received yesterday and she had great instructions. I saw people trying the quilling and Arlene's Flowersoft cards were gorgeous. Does anyone ever give you ideas when you ask what demos they'd like? I know I don't but then I am adventurous and try stuff myself. By October a couple of us will have taken Zindorf's class. Maybe the 3 of us could coordinate something. We also will have another Rubberstamping Expo at the end of the month. As we go around that we should think, what can we bring back?

I know I learn better by doing than watching. Maybe bring a brayer and we'll show you 3 ways to use it: inking BG stamps (just for you) Zindorf technique, wax paper resist, and Crayon resist OR how do you use Versamark?: popping pastels, tone on tone, embossing with dye inks and emboss resist OR 5 ways to make a bow (are you ribbon challenged?) OR masking- why do I use it OR sponges and other distressing tools? Maybe have people vote on choices? I do feel people would benefit from seeing things they have never tried and that was my favorite part of what I took away from the first WNY-Copics and watercoloring. Would the lady in Bridgeport consider coming and doing some demo? It couldn't hurt her bottom line.
These are just ramblings, really what you have been doing is fine, if it stayed the same people would still come. But since you asked these are my ramblings

And I like the stealing-if only I had gotten the nice box

ALSO to the technique swappers: thanks for doing such a great job on those cards. Every one was great. Linda says we can do it again so check out the resources and come up with a new technique for October and judging from the comments from the none teckies, we'll have more people next time.
A special note to HEIDI and JUDY: thanks for sending your stuff and making it possible to have the complete set. I am sooooo sorry you both missed the fun. Hope you feel better.

DH just called and a wheel on his truck broken (basically he's a mechanic whose truck carries too much stuff-in case he needs it, sort of like my stamping supplies and it weighs too much for the wheels, they break after about 12 months. Luckily the truck has duals on the back-so he could still drive to his destination)-he has a spare in basement so I have to take it to him TTYL

anyone interested in going for a much bigger show in June in MA? It's 4 hours or so from my house...not any worse than the ride to Buffalo...

I didn't know we had another Tina - I wasn't able to go and I don't live in Central (or Western) NY but I have been to three gatherings since May 2007 and always hope I can go to whichever one is next. Perhaps someday we'll meet and see what else we might have in common.

Sounds like it was another great get together and I will stalk the galleries for photos (in between bursts of cleaning and laundry).

Happy Crafting!

Not sure ... but it is only 2 hours away from my house (according to mapquest). Want to but then I'll have more stuff to "hide-n-pack" and lots less cash. But the biggest issue is making sure the house is truly presentable if anyone wants to look at it on any given weekend and DH/FIL would not do that adequately.

If anyone goes be sure to try to take a class by Zana Clark of Stamp Zia - I think lots of you would love her techiniques/style. She has her own line of mists too (has for awhile; I won a full set in 2005 or 2006 and they disappeared into the abyss of my craft stuff never to resurface ).

Karen brought over my stuff from yesterday, and filled me in on all the fun I missed. I really like the ATC and Technique swaps, everyone did a great job! My thanks to the ladies at table 4 for sending me all your projects. Did anyone else notice that the table was heavy on the pink and/or punches (including mine)? Gayla, I like the door prize in the little basket I won which you provided. Im looking forward to trying out the chocolate glitter. Speaking of chocolate, my thanks also to whoever brought the gypsy/belly dancer gift bag with the HERSHY bar (and other neat stuff) for the gift exchange. Now you all know that Karen DID actually give me everything (including my goody bag).

Linda, just one of the many saying thanks for all your hard work. You did a great job and kept everything moving smoothly. I know I didn't have much time inbetween things but that makes for an exciting event. Thanks to all who jumped in and did the extra work for the two that were not there and I here they are both doing better. Hope the girls from my area can run such a eventful day of stamping. I will be doing a demo and make-it and take-it for Beeswax application at the june 13th event, it was just too much to bring and set up for last saturday. The make-it take-it were very good. I thought everyone enjoyed seeing the quilling and the flower soft. It is always best to see something first hand with fellow stamping friends before we jump into buying the kit and kabutal. and Gayla- glad you liked Vidler's. I didn't know if it was close enough for you gals to enjoy but it is a great place just to wonder around in. I'm better today after 10 hours of straight sleep. Thanks to my driver's form Rochester to Syracuse Ginna and Maria. Gonna watch T.V. something I have not seen in a while. Stamping...stamping...stamping...My husband is glad I'm stamping again tonight. He thought I was nuts.

I'm finally off the couch...still have that cold feeling but not too much coughing so far. DH called me after church so our nephew could talk to me..."I love you, Aunt Arlene" ...ahhhh...and he brought home food and cake

Linda, more water...like Gayla said...and fruit punch (I don't drink soda pop) to drink would be good at the next gathering. This gathering I didn't feel like I was rushed like last Fall. Surprisingly for thinking I didn't know what I was going to do with the Flower Soft, I was not nervous about demoing it. I'd like demos/make and takes about Twinkling H2Os, pastels, bayering (Erin...I think...did a great job last Fall but I'd like to do it several times to get the hang of it), and anything new, different, latest and greatest.

Thanks to those who hosted tables and make and takes!

More spoons and folks, too. I think we ran out of spoons.

We missed you at Table 1 Judy!!! Hope your back is better!
