Hi Belva, welcome to Florida! I'm glad you found this thread. We would love it if you could join us on July 28. Do you have any plans yet that day or can we count you in?

I hope everybody is having a terrific Friday night. I just got back from Taco City and then watching the launch on the beach. It was beautiful out there at sunset. Aren't we so lucky to have the space program in our backyard!

Sleep tight;)

Hi everyone! We went to Disney today, and we got off at exit 62. It's the same one I have to take on the 28th to head east! I am such a dork, but I was really excited to know that I can get as far as Orlando without getting lost! LOL

Elizabeth, I sure share in your excitement. I feel like a total doofus for getting so giddy over a simple meeting. I can't help but wonder why it never occured to me before to host a get together. I'm glad you found your exit so you will know where it is in July. Where abouts are you coming from? Just wondering how long of a drive it will be for you.

I'm heading to CA in the morning and probably won't be able to check in on this thread very often. I'll have to battle my mom over my uncle's computer. Anyways, everybody have a terrific week and I'll be back on the 21st.

Amy, I'd like to use chipboard for my swap, too. I know you said to try to use SU products, but would it be okay to use non-SU chipboard? I've got an idea that would be so much fun...

It's almost time for the retired accessories list! I made 2 of my swaps already. I hope I picked the right papers! LOL

The retired accessory list is out. I didn't pick the right paper as ALL of the designer papers are retiring. What happens now? Does anybody care if their 3D swap has retired paper on it? Please let me know what I should do now. TIA!

I'm just going to start over with my 3D swaps. No biggie. I guess I'll have to wait on designing my cards until I see the new catty. I hope I can get an order in time. LOL

Smile I'm back!

Hey kids, I'm home!

Wow Elizabeth, you may be traveling the farthest to come to our swap! 2.5 hours from sounds right, as it took me about three hours to get to Clearwater. I haven't heard, but maybe somebody else coming is from your area. It sure would be nice if you had a navigator on your trip. Although I don't have a cell phone #, I can give you my home, restaurant, and library # if you need them. Just pm me if you (or anyone) would like them.

Sorry to hear you chose a paper that is retiring for your 3-D swap. It's tough to make swaps too far in advance because it's such a gamble on what will and won't retire. You can give me one of the swaps with the retired paper, I don't mind. Although I requested current items only in the OP, that was out of respect for demos actively persuing their business. I am just a hobby demo so it makes no difference to me. Just put my name on one of those.

Roz, thanks for your username. Would you like to participate in the 3D swap or use your chipboard in the shoebox swap?

Belva, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that things will work out for you to come. I imagine it must be hard to find a person to watch children for that length of time. Keep on tryin!

Katherine, I think it's fine to use other chipboard, if SU doesn't have exactly what you're looking for. I can't wait to see what you have in mind.

Ok, my grass grew into a jungle while I was away and needs to be tamed. I'll catch up with everybody later. Have a super fun weekend!

Oh, it's still too hot to mow the yard! Instead, I thought I'd create a list of possible items for the 3-D swap. We have four participants so far and would love some more. Check out the ideas and post if you would like to join us and what you would like to do. You can always change your mind as far as what you make.

altered mini-clipboard
box, bag, or purse
journal or bitty book
tin container
game pieces
CD/DVD holder
pull card-popcorn, candy, etc.
picture frame
tea bag holder
votive, candle, or holder
jewelry
post-it note covers
magnet

I know there are other things too. I just stole these ideas from the gallery. Let me know what pops into your head and I can add it to the list.

So far, Teresa and I are the only two who will get a door prize. Each person who particpates in the door prize purchases one item up to $10 and will put her name in a hat at the swap. Throughout the swap, names will be called out and as they are, that person will get to choose what she wants. It may be a SU item, something from a craft store, etc. Please let me know if you would like to participate in this fun too.

All right, no more procrastinating. Here I go...

Thanks for keeping us all organized and inspired, Amy! You can add my name to the door prize list. Is there a price range for that?

Hey Katherine. $10 is the max amount for the door prize. It should be stamping related, but can be any brand. I'm glad you will participate in it. That makes three of us that will get some new toys to play with. Come on gang, who else is up for a door prize?

Talking I'm a goofball!

You guys are great! I will get it all together one day. I completely forgot that I have 6 stacks of POP! I have only used 2 little pieces of it so far. LOL I am such a hoarder! Guess that's why I'm stuck with all this retired DSP! I hope you like my 3D swap. My MIL took one of them last night. LOL I'm using the 5-in-1 to make a purse card photo album. It's really cute. Oh, you can add my name to the door prize list, too! Off topic...who's going to Orlando in September for Regionals?? I haven't told my ex yet, but he's babysitting again! LOL I guess I should try again to get some work done. I couldn't log in earlier, so I hopped on over here. ;) Talk to you guys later! Have a great weekend!

Mornin' everybody. Elizabeth, you sure were up early on a Saturday. I just got up (10 am). Guess I'm still on CA time. I must still out of it, as I can't remember what POP is. Some kind of paper, but what's the first PO for? Elizabeth's 3D purse sounds just adorable. I have the mini envelope template (still in shrink wrap), but not the five in one card cover template.

OK, more supporting evidence that I'm still out of it. I didn't know Regionals was going to be in Orlando. Did they just announce that while I as away? I never logged into their site b/c I can't remember my #. On my home computer, it just shows up in the box, as does my password. Guess I ought to go explore regionals on the SU website. I went to Convention back in '04 when it was in Orlando and absolutely loved it. I just might go to regionals. We'll have to see when registration is.

Everybody, have a super day. I'll check back in later.

Phew! I finally have all the "kits" put together for my card. That is a huge relief! (and one item to check off my "To Do" list )

The regionals that you are talking about - is that something for demo's only? Or can the general public attend as well?

I am sorry to say that I am not going to be able to attend this swap after all. It just is not meant to be at this time. I wanted to let you know so you didn't count me in the list.
Hope to meet you all soon and hope you have a great time. I will be thinking of you and will try to stamp a bit that day so I will be close in spirit.
Thank you again for hosting this and good luck.

Oh Belva, I'm so sorry to hear you can't make it. We will miss you, but fear not, when we host a second central FL get together, we'll let you know. I do want to meet you. If anything changes, you can always let us know up to Saturday, July 14th. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hugs,
Amy

Kim, I'm sorry you can't make it either, and will let you know as well when we have another get together. We have fifteen people who have committed so far. It should be a wonderful group. When we do plan another one, I'll be a little smarter and not host it during convention. Several gals are attending that instead. I'm sure had they known about our shoebox swap first, they would have chosen it instead. Who wouldn't ??? Maybe we can consider this our own little convention. On the bright side, I am very excited to meet you and Hawk on Wednesday.

Robin, I can't believe how organized you are! Newly married, new job, and here you are all ready for our swap too. You put me to shame!

Regionals is a one day training that SU hosts in several cities throughout the US and Canada each year. I have never been, but think that similiar to convention, in which demos may bring a guest to also attend. There are motivational speakers, demos sharing experiences, make and takes, and you get a free stamp set, not on the market yet. April, I think you may have attended the Atlanta regionals last year. Any comments? Anyways this year it will be in Orlando on Sept. 28 & 29 (Fri. & Sat.). The same presentation repeats itself the second day. Maybe others have more info they can contribute.

Have a good night everybody.

Robin- At Regionals, there is generally the same stuff on the 2 days, but they do show different projects on different days. I found this out when SU! posted highlights and none of us that went Saturday had a clue. Turns out it was demo'd on Friday. I had a blast! I went to the one in March in Tampa, and I hope to go to Orlando in September!

Amy- It's Pallette O' Prints! I have plenty! LOL

Belva & Kim- Sorry you can't make it!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! I was hoping my catalog would show up today, but no such luck. Maybe Monday.

I love regionals. My mom & I have gone to the one in Atlanta twice now (non-demos can go to regionals with a demo). It's worked out both times to be the week of my spring break. I may have to talk her into visiting Orlando this time to go with me down here. I hadn't thought about them doing different projects the two days....I thought they did the same ones for the most part.

Ok, this is TOTALLY off-topic, but I'm having to move into a new apartment that only allows 2 cats, so I have 2 very sweet cats to find new homes for.

Skippy is about a year & half old. He's been fixed and is very happy & friendly. He could be an indoor or outdoor cat (but he's used to indoors). He loves to play and would probably make a good mouser if he had the chance. It's great entertainment to watch him chase the reflected sunlight on the walls in the morning! He gets along fine with the two cats we are keeping, so I imagine he would fit in with a multi-animal family.

Petunia is about 8 years old. She's been fixed and declawed, so she should be an indoor cat (although she's been both). She adores all people, but she's not so fond of other cats. She's a great apartment cat and loves to sit on her humans and sleep with them, if they let her. She literally has never met a human she didn't like.

If you know of anyone who would like to give either of these sweeties a home, please let me know. It has been suggested that we just sneak all four into the new place, but I'm not comfortable with that idea.

Hi April. I'm so sorry you have to find new homes for your kitties. I love both of their names! Unfortunately, I don't think I can handle any more than Paddington and Paisley at this time. Maybe an ad in the paper would help you find some loving parents for them. Good luck with your search. Let us know how it goes.

April, I sure do hope you can find a home (or homes) for your babies. I have two "monster" cats of my own, otherwise I'd take them.

"Monster" is a term of endearment! :-D
