Karen, I LOVE your altered folder idea! I have some folded and ready to go, so I can cover them (not like I don't have enough paper-HAH!) and bring them when we get together. That DOESN'T mean we get to slack off for all of January. We can just work together here.

Ok, how about an easy start for January?

DRINK YOUR WATER!!!! At least 6 - 8 oz. glasses/day. Doesn't matter if you put crystal lite in it, that's ok. Iced tea, does NOT count as water. Remember that anything with caffeine in it acts as a diuretic and depletes the water in your body.

Also, take two vitamin B capsules/day. It's good for you and B complex vitamins help increase your metabolism.

Ready, set, GO!

what kind of vitamin B?? I was at the pharmacy a while ago and there are so many different vitamin B's. lol...I'm completely lost here!

Maybe we should do a yoga or pilates class or a big walk around the block of where we are going to eat (thoughtfully select nutritious food)?

I'm in for the fitness plan! Teresa, I have had a pedometer for years and really swear by it! I try to get a minimum of 10,000 steps a day, but you do have to work up to that. At the moment, I am only managing around 3500 a day, but I hope to start increasing that soon. B vitamins are supposed to help increase your energy levels. I have been having issues with fatigue since surgery, but a friend who also just had surgery, told me to increase my B vitamins. He said they made a great difference to him, so I am going to try it.

I was without a pedometer for awhile because the clip broke. I started gaining weight after that so I clearly need this tool for motivation. I really don't want to be without one again.

Good morning everyone! It's great to see more of us on board with our "Happy and Healthy in 2010".

My fave B complex vitamin is Life Brand (Shoppers Drug Mart) and on the front of the bottle it says "Complex B with C 300 mg". It's B1, B2, B6 and B12 with 300 mg of Vitamin C. It's water soluble, so if you're drinking your water, your body will flush out what you don't need. Just be warned though...you get the privilege of peeing neon yellow - LOL!

Ina, that is an AWESOME fitness age - WAY TO GO!!! I can't wait to get our Wii Fit!!!

A walk around wherever we're eating is a great idea...so long it's not too cold as I suffer from asthma with too much cold air.

Have a great day everyone and why not start today? Give yourself a boost for the new year and start drinking that water today!

UGh... I hate water... LOL
I will try and drink more of it, but I don't think i'll get up to 8! LOL I do drink tonnes of green tea though. I now there's caffine in it, but the amount of that water that I drink, I hopefully outweigh the downfalls.. lol

Kay, well I have tonnes of ideas so lemme see what i can put together!

Green tea should do the trick Karen...if you drink what you drank at Sick Kids two or three times a day you should be good - LOL! Try to get some water in there too!

Give me some ideas for naughty/nice things to do,,,like "Today I was naughty" and on a slip of paper it would say do 20 extra sit ups/crunches or "Today I was nice" on a slip of paper it would say treat myself to a non-fat latte...or buy a fancy sheet of paper...along those lines. I'll type them up and cut them into strips to add to our folders.

I AM NOT GIVING UP MY COFFEE!!! I just got my Keurig!!! (stomp feet, stomp feet!) You can't make me!!!

That's my tantrum for the day! lol...but I will try to drink extra water to compensate for my coffee habit.

A walk sounds great, but I agree with Christyne, I don't do cold very well. Did you ladies want to walk before we have dinner/appies? I read somewhere that eating after a workout is the best meal since your body tends to absorb the most nutrients and such then.

As for motivational ideas:

Naughty
- drink 3 extra glasses of water
- do a(n) (extra) set of push ups and/or sit ups
- run a(n) (extra) lap around the block
- do a(n) (extra) 15 minutes on the Wii Fit (since we all seem to have it)

*brackets are just in case these things aren't already on your daily schedule, lol, then it wouldn't be extra (like me).

Nice
- treat yourself to a low/no fat dessert
- pamper yourself with a mani/pedi (or something along those lines)
- get dolled up and go out (even if it's to the mall, I find that when I get dressed up I feel better about myself)

If we're getting our DH's involved in our support group, we can ask them to do something nice for us too when we accomplish something.

And maybe for every milestone we hit (let's say for every 5 or 10 lbs, depending on our goals), we can buy a new item of clothing.

My New Year's Resolution is to try and be happier with who I am! That means getting healthier and surrounding myself with people that make me happy and feel better about myself (there's a story here which I will share when we get together, since today is about reflections of the past year and how to make the next one better, only happy thoughts today!)

OK, Diana, you don't have to give up your coffee...but you DO need to drink extra water to make up for it!!!!

I have a 6 oz. glass by my water cooler and have already had 4 glasses today, so 4 more and I'm good for the day (though I would probably drink more - I always do). I read somewhere that you should drink 1/2 your body weight in oz. of water everyday...so, if you weigh 160 (I WISH!!!), you should drink 80 oz. water every day...which sounds like a lot, but it's really only 10 cups at 8 oz. each...that's not that bad.

Happy thoughts today! We are all going to be healthier and happier in 2010.

I don't think we should use exercise as punishment for being naughty. Exercise is supposed to be a positive thing.

I dunno....I'll listen to my Jenny CD again. I think it says that if you were bad to just let it go and not beat yourself up about it and if you make health choices most of the time you are doing well.

Celebrate your success: It can be so easy to focus on what's going wrong, that you lose site of what's gone right. Maybe you didn't get in the physical activity you planned for this week. But, you did eat at least 5 servings of vegetables and fruit every day! So treat yourself to a manicure for doing such a good job with your menu. Then, create a detailed and realistic plan for incorporating activity into your life next week.

wow chatty today eh?? i am at work done my counts just waiting for 6 so we can close and i get my paper work done.
i have already started eating healthy about a month ago. I fall off the wagon once in a while (its the not-boyfriend, he is a bad influence!! ha ha) but i am doing better now than i ever have been My biggest problem is bread...i am allergic to wheat and shouldn't eat it but i was...now i have almost completly cut it out.
I also take the dog for a walk daily which helps
I love our little support group

I think this will definately be good!

And yeah, I can use exercise as a punishment... that' ok.. I know now that I will never see exercise as joyous! LOL but I'll make mine stuff I really hate - like push ups.... i hate push ups.

in the end we dont have to all have the same things.. different things motivate different people so we should all personalize our programs somewhat in order to be successful.

Hm.... 140 lbs.... 70oz of water... that's 7 cups of 10 oz water.. grrr.....
I do drink alot of tea eh Christyne? LOL if i was there longer I could have drank 2 more of those... lol

It's been snowing here since before midnight. Looks lovely! Going out to get my Stampin Up supplies that were delivered yesterday to my consultant. Paper, paper and more paper! Now I can really do something!

Phew! My hat goes off to all you mothers of young kids! My grandsons are a busy bunch, and sure have me tired out! They have gone to visit my DD in Toronto for tonight and I am glad to have a break to get my house tidied up and get some time to relax. We took them skiing yesterday and for kids who have rarely seen snow at all, they shone on the hill! You should have seen the 3 year old after 2 hours of practising!

Is there a secret to putting card stock through your printer? Mine keeps saying that the paper isn't loaded correctly.

Ina- I know exactly how you feel. There are days when I feel as though 5 of me aren't enough! But I try to enjoy every moment since I know that they're shortlived and pretty soon it'll be "uncool" to have their mom around.

Teresa- sorry hun! I don't know how to help you since I've never had that problem. My printer has a load button, so maybe if yours does too, you can manually load the cs first?

I dunno if it has a load button. I'll investigate further. Tried to use vellum but that didn't work either.

When I have to put CS through my printer, I take all the other paper out and just put through the CS. It seems to do the trick. I have an Epson.
