amazon.ca =)
http://www.amazon.ca/Hello-Cupcake-I...2111966&sr=8-1

there's a whole bunch of cupcake and cake books - lots of them look fun fun fun!

Kay, embellie organizing advice required.....
I'm considering putting my embellies in glass jars. now I'm just not sure if I should organize them by color, or by theme? I have little drawers in the cube system I just bought.. so maybe I should put all the color coded embellies in there, and then just put themed ones in the glass jars? Like.... "summer", "christmas", etc.... whatcha think?

or should I just color code the ribbons in the jars? And put the little embellies in the drawers? I am so stumped on ribbon storage...

Thanks for the link!

I would organize them by colour instead of by theme. You may want to use a heart on another card other than Valentines and then it will be with all the red stuff. Then you don't have to go hunting, through buttons, ribbons, etc...just go to the red jar and you'll know everything is there. Make sense?

If the storage units are 50% off at Mikes, then I suggest that you go and get the ribbon organizer that matches the cube storage set. It hangs on the wall (mine are just set on top of my shelving though, see gallery). It holds TONS of ribbon....they're reg. $30 but with the 50% they're $15 (duh)...I got 3 and they replace about 8 of the plastic ones from Mikes. It's a double rod system so it doesn't take up too much space. Hope this helps.

As for the embellies, right now they're in the plastic containers with compartments from the dollar store and it's been working for me. The compartments are small so it's perfect for brads, eyelets, etc...for the bigger embellies, I got the similar containers from Mikes but it's the same concept. Hopefully one day I'll get drawer organizers and put them in there. I would suggest that you do it by theme. I would think it's easier.

bf bought me the small one rod organizer (thats what kinda started the whole thing). I had my eye on that system for a while, and was kinda waiting for a good time to tell him I wanted to spend all that $ but he bought me that piece so I just ran with it.. lol! i find that my ribbons don't have a big enough hole to go on the rod. Right now I'm in ribbon h-e-double hockey sticks... I have a thin burgundy i took off the roll and its all tangled!! grr!!

Hm....

I found that the rods were too big for my ribbon too....I just poked them through and it was all good! Takes up a little more time and effort but I really liked that they were double rod so I decided to keep them.

Good luck with sorting out your stuff. That's what took the longest when I was getting my room into shape. I didn't know what to get, but it all came together so I know yours will too!

On another note...did you ladies want to go to an all you can eat sushi place on the 25th or just a regular restaurant? We all have to agree if you go to a buffet sort of place because regardless of what we eat, we will all be charged the same rate. Any suggestions???

I also prefer no buffet style.
I have to watch the pocketbook, so I might just be coming for a drink and desert or appys... lol

No buffet for me either!!! YIKES! Nevermind the pocketbook, I don't want to know what it would do to my waist line!

I'm good for just about anything with a good selection of appetizers as I prefer to order a couple little things instead of one big. Plus, appies are fun to share!

anyone know of a good appy place? I'm good with that too...since you ladies know I like to order everything on the menu but tend to take most of it home (or pawn it off on you guys)

maybe we can find a place with happy hour again, then it'll be a win win situation with full menu of appies at half the price!

lol! ok...I just googled happy hour restaurants and came up with applebee's (although I checked their website and there was no mention of happy hour) and there's also east side marios. or we can go to big daddy's again but we'll have to remember to sit at the bar. anyone know if jack astors, casey's, kelsey's, etc offer this?

sorry to miss you again janet! hopefully we'll set something that will work for you next month.

Karen- I wish I could meet up with you but we have so many last minute errands to run for Christian's/New Year's Eve party. I'll text you if things change but right now I don't think I can.

it doesn't ahve to be happy hour, it can just be a place that has appys =)
I'm good with any choice, just need an address to get there.

No worries Diana! I have tonnes of things to do, I just was hoping for an excuse to escape... lol I tried to do alot of cleaning today but those darn ribbons getting all tangled, took up so much time! LOL Oh well....

We met this new realtor tonight.. he left a bit ago - he thinks he can sell our place, but now I don't know if we'll qualify for the mortgage since I lost my job. So.. i guess after two glasses of wine I'm just feeling a bit angry that obstacles keep jumping in our way. yep, there's my sob story! LOL

oh Karen, please don't worry. I'm sure things will work out in the long run. Just believe that things happen for a reason even if it's not obvious what the reason is right now.

Ok...I'll leave it to you guys to decide where we're going. It really doesn't matter to me...as long as there's food and good company, I'm good! lol...

Karen, drive over to my house, then we can go check out the cottage to see if it is ok with this cold weather. Something to do and productive too.

Good morning everyone!

Karen, I found a quote when DH and I were having some trouble a couple years ago. I don't know who wrote it, but it says "Everything will be OK in the end. If it isn't, then it isn't the end". Keep your chin up girlfriend! We're all here for you!

I think lots of places do appetizers...with the economy in the crapper, they're all trying to get business any way possible. Appleby's has good appys, but they're pretty predictable (nothing out of the ordinary). We could do Jacks since they have the big plates of appys with 3 or 4 different things to share. We could do that because I think the plates are only around $15 or so, so if we ordered two and there were 6 of us, that would only be $5 each.

Thoughts?

Hi Ladies,

Christyne, that's a great idea! Applebee's also offers something similar for $16.99 but its only a select menu that you can pick from. I think it's a trio platter. Votes ladies? Applebee's or Jack's?

Karen- that IS gross! Micky-D's for breakfast??? Girl, I don't know how you stay so thin! I'm so jealous! Wait until you pop out a few munchkins...lol!

LOL at popping out the munchkins! If I ate McD's for breakfast, I would be positively ill for the rest of the day!

My preference is Jack's. We could get the Elvis booth again if there's enough of us!

I am feeling ill now... lol

spent all morning writing an introduction letter ~ i think I'm ready to send it now....

and as for staying thin? I didn't used to eat like this...... since i've moved here, I have gained probably 15 lbs from drinking too much and eating like crap. new years reso is to get healthy! not to mention, someone i know just dropped dead of a heart attack (business connection) at his desk yesterday morning. he smoked like a chimney and ate terribly, and eventually that catches up! So, its a wake up call for my family.... (and yes, knowing all of this, I still went through that drive through this morning... ugh)

No more drive thru!!!!

We can all support each other in our journey to stay healthy. We got a Wii on Boxing Day and on Saturday we're going out to get Wii Fit Plus. I plan to use it every day (or pretty much every day) and do my best to be a happier and healthier me in 2010.

I used to work there too Janet...back when the only "healthy" choice was pretty much a Mc DLT (don't know if you know what that is) and then I found a worm in a tomato...BLECH!!!!

I try to avoid it only because I like to know 100% what is going into what I'm eating. If I can't pronounce it, there's a good chance I won't eat it...

hahah.... guess you don't eat chinese food too often.. lol!!

And yeah, McD's isn't the first place I think of when I think of healthy food. Its not the healthy choices, and in the end, its still processed foods with preservatives and salts. I don't trust the salads in ANY fast food restaurant (though I have been known to eat them now and then). I remember the McDLT.... was that the Keep the hot side hot and the cold side cold burger? I also remember my fave used to be the Arch Deluxe.

I'm with ya on the healthy kick! we have the wii and the wii fit... I am the only one in the household that hasn't tried it yet... LOL!!

Hi girls! Hope you all had a peaceful Christmas, we had a great time, but I managed to get OH's cold, which I think is turning into flu judging from the aches and pains I am feeling.

As I am still not working I won't be able to meet up but if I find a job in the meantime I will make sure I am there!

Hi Jukie! Glad to hear you enjoyed your first Canadian Christmas, but it's too bad that you caught your DH's cold. I sure hope it's not the flu - how awful!

Karen, yes, that was the hot side hot and cold side cold sandwich...and try out the Wii! So far we just have the Wii Sports (came with the game) and Wii Sports Resort (DH bought that one when he went out on Boxing Day. They are both great. I tried the boxing with DH and broke a sweat! Of course, that probably just means that I'm out of shape and not that it was difficult, but whatever - LOL!

I challenge everyone to exercise more in 2010!!!

We have the Wii and Wii Fit too, although like Karen I have yet to use it. I've only played the Wii Sports and Mario Brothers games even though the kids have tons of other games (I can't name them since I don't even know the names, lol). I have been telling myself to use the Wii Fit but because it was in the basement I couldn't motivate myself to go down there. But now that DH has moved it up on the main level maybe I'll get to it now.

Let's set a personal goal amongst ourselves and motivate each other to reach that goal by the summer. I find that I work better with motivation and a deadline (kinda like crafting and swaps!)

Oh, i've played the Wii.. just not the game Wii Fit.
my fave is the bowling game... lol

Our friends brought over Rockband once and we had this little rockband party it was pretty cool! LOL

They're coming over for NYE so maybe they'll bring it again... either way, we have a few games to play. Bf wants this Duck Hunt game, and the Mario bros. game looks cool too - esp since you can play more than one person at a time!

I'm all for a fitness plan!! I suck at goals and stuff, but hey, I'm willing to try!
How about we come up with like some sort of overall plan. Ooh, the brain is ticking!!

OOh.. I just thought of something!! Kay, we can make a file folder like the organizer that you made Christyne. Its got 4 slots. So we can catagorize each slot. One for say, healthy recipes; one for goals; one for exercises; one for rewards... or something like that.

pre-plan the rewards and stuff them inside the file, then pluck one out when its reward time! we can add a calendar, add days or number of times we try a new healthy recipe or re-work a recipe we like to be more healthy. OOH.. a punishment one, where if you slack on something (like drive thru haha) you have to do whatever it is you pull out. those can be things like doing 20 push ups or 50 sit ups/crunches in addition to your regualar work out schedule...

i dunno.... it might work! or is that too much work ya think?

lol...that's what I meant, we haven't used the Wii Fit either.

I'm all for a fitness plan! I'd have no idea where to start but I'm surely up for suggestions! Yours sounds great Karen!
