Calgary Classic -- Stampin� Scrap Event

We have started a new thread for the 2008 Calgary Classic --Stampin' Scrap Event.

We will be having the following swaps for our 1st Annual Calgary Classic

Please register for all swaps by SEPTEMBER 20, 2007 so everyone has enough time to complete all projects.

MOUNTABLE CARD FRONT SWAP (total # to be made to match # of participants)

This swap will be for mountable card fronts (5 �” x 4”). For each spot, participants must make the total number of card fronts. Please ensure your card fronts are all exactly the same to ensure an easy swap. You must have at least 2 layers of quality cardstock (SU preferred but not required) and at least one embellishment.

This swap is now closed - Participants please make 28 card fronts. You will get one of your own back.

SHOEBOX SWAPS – Full Cards (Make 6 in total for each group)

Each shoebox swap must be for a full card or equivalent project (can be 3D, folded project etc). No envelopes required. A minimum of two layers (or use a great technique) and have at least one embellishment.

Make a sample for display. Create Instructions. Provide Tools required. Pre-cut all paper and include embellishments in individual packages. Each package must include the instructions.

Since not everyone can have every set, we will be offering a WISH RAK section at the 1st Annual Calgary Classic Stamp and Scrap Event.

You can wish for and others can offer to bring various stamp sets or tools or whatever can be shared. Just ask and hopefully you shall receive. There will be a spreadsheet created for the Wishes and volunteers for the fulfilling their wishes.

We will have a table set up at the event for all our WISH RAK.

3D ITEM DONATIONS FOR ACME COMMUNITY ANGELS

I am wondering if any of you ladies are willing to donate a 3D item to our Acme Community Angels organization. We would like to have a Christmas Store at our Christmas Party to allow young children to purchase small gifts for their family at a minimal cost. The money raised will go to a local charity who helps families in need during the holidays. I will have a box at the event if you wish to help us out. Anything would be greatly appreciate. Just a note to let you know what we are about: The Acme Community Angels is an organization started in 2006. Our goal is to make Acme a safe and caring community. We feel the first way to feel safe is to know your neighbors. So in order for you to meet those neighbors in an easy laid back environment we plan community events every few months.

SECRET CHALLENGE SWAP

Ta Da ..... Here it is.... finally the details for the Secret Challenge Swap.

This swap is for full cards (5 1/2" x 4 1/4") made of quality cardstock NVR. Each person will do the total number of cards as participants.

The swap has five elements that you must meet to particpate. They are:

1. Model your card after the attached sketch.
2. Use earthy colours (eg SU Earth Elements) - SU is not required.
3. The theme of the card is "Hope" - what brings you hope? where do you find hope in your life?
4. Ribbon of any kind is your embellishment.
5. You must use at least two layers.

We wanted to inspire you to step out of your normal box. To try something different, to meet a new challenge. We also wanted to see what inspires you all and what brings you hope. We all need hope in our lives for whatever reasons, this is an opportunity to share that hope with others and hopefully find a little hope from others.

We have secured a price of $89.00 (plus taxes) for a guest room based on single or double occupancy. When you book your room, you must reference “CGSCR” to get the special rate. The rooms are only being held until September 15th 2007, so book early. . The hotel is clean and has a pool and hot tub; bring your suits so you can soak your crafting aches away.

The hotel is in a great location near the airport, a short drive from the QEII Highway and near one of Calgary’s major malls (Sunridge Mall) and many restaurants. The hotel also has a restaurant that has great food at reasonable prices.

Thank you for this info, according to my contact at the hotel -- the 1 800 # should be able to give you the event code, too. Sorry, that you ran into trouble. All taken care of, my friend. The ballroom that we are using only has one access door that locks when closed. I will have the key for us, when we leave. The hotel has 24 hour security for the room, as well as, men in uniform (yep, police) that check up three times a day. Our scrap stuff should be mighty safe. Our group will have access to the room, through hotel staff or me. So, no-one else will be allowed into the space during the three days. We even have our own washrooms right outside the room.

The room is less than 50 feet from the door, with no stairs so you can just roll your stuff on it...... I hope this helps.

With regards to the swaps, does it have to be current SU stamps or can it be anything?

They can be anything. We are not limiting to SU. The caveat I would put on that is quality paper, and embellishments is all. Stamps are stamps as far as I am concerned.
