Melissa or Elaine can you please explain what the lottery is and the notebook thing? Then you don't have to send 30 emails explaining the same things over and over. : - ) Thanks..
Lottery Item This is one WOW item that you would give as a gift. You only make one and you only get one so bring you cameras to take pics of all the really cool ideas. We have set the price between $5-$10 that seems to be standard. Elaine will have photos from previous swaps on her blog. This is one of our favorite optional swaps at the ones we have gone to in the past. There always seems to be that one item that everyone LOVES and is above and beyond creative so we added the PRIZE for the item that everyone likes the most.
Notebook Challenge This is our little brainstorm. We like to decorate notebooks and like to find new ideas so we added this thinking it would be fun. Decorate Standard Size Notebooks one for each person that signes up for this part. There will also be a PRIZE for the one everyone like the best in this catagory so think outside of the box. We will add more about this optional swap later.
Mel, the lottery sounds like something I can handle, but I'm intimidated by the swap itself. Is it OK to participate if you bring 10 of something (1/2 completed, 1/2 to be assembled, right?) or is it OK to watch this first time around? The notebook challenge sound like fun, but I've never done a notebook, so would appreciate very much if that could be one I could watch and learn from. TIA
Jean, in her baby/toddler stage of stamping

Where is Friendship, WI? I live in the UP of Michigan....near Marquette...want to know if it is somewhere close to Green Bay/Appleton area? Thanks Maggi
If you look at a WI map, Friendship is in central WI. We are about thirty miles north of WI Dells, and about thirty miles south of WI Rapids. It take about an hour and forty five minutes to get to Appleton from here. I hope this helps! It would be a long trip for you but we would love to have you!
You will be surprised how easy the card part of the shoebox swap becomes. We are not looking for the next catalog cover here just fun ideas and cards. There will be prizes for the top three cards, but it is voted on, and can be a really neat idea or color scheme that is different from everyone elses. You just never know. I always think, 2 packs of SU cardstock, stamps or theme, embellishment and/or ribon and to punch or to cut? With the ink, I try not to bring a light color and a dark color together because you can end up with the dark color stamped on the light color by accident, but the lady that did the trees (below) had no problems so it is hit and miss. Totally up to you.
With that said there was a super cute card that won at one swap it was double mounted, used a reverse image technique (wax paper) and was very easy to do. A beautiful, cute little card. Another swap had a card with sponging done different, white craft ink on dark green paper with trees stamped on it in darker green. People just like to treat their brain to different views. We each tend to have our own style. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse any new stampers/swapers.
The tree card and some other cards from a swap are added to help out.
WOW is it COLD!!!!
Elaine, Diane and I will be at the open house on Jan. 31, so if any of you would like to sign up for this swap while we are there that would be fine. It would save you the cost of a postage stamp. We will try to bring some sample items along from previous swaps to answer any questions you might have. Plus it will be a chance to get an idea of the best items to offer as prizes too, we are always open to suggestions. Counting down the days to ROAD TRIP!!!!!
Mel
I'll know for sure by the 31st, but put me down as a tentative yes.

Notebook Challenge
Elaine and I have a question for the group. Would you prefer to:
A. Make one standard size notebook for each person that signs up for this catagory.
B. Make one standard notebook, Bring it, enter it in the contests and then take your own notebook back home with you.
C. Make one standard notebook, Bring it, enter it in the contest then take a different one home with you (just like the lottery is done).
This would be a standard notebook altered/decorated just like you would do if you were giving it as a gift. We will have them all displayed and the favorite one of the day will win a PRIZE. Once again, a blind vote where you write the number of the one you like best on a sheet of paper and place it in a box. The votes will all be counted (hopefully) by the end of lunch.
We had planned on doing this just like the anything but a card catagory where you would get one of each idea. The only concern is if alot of people sign up then that is alot of notebooks to have around and to make. Just wanted to see what you ladies thought so we can make this catagory fun for everyone interested in it.
What kind of lunch will it be? ie. box lunch, catered. pizza? I see other swaps are a little less expensive since they bring their own food. Don't know as I WANT to have to bring food, just newbie curiosity.
For lunch we are going to be baking Papa Murphy pizza's and we are ordering sub's from subway. We aren't going to take order's, just have a variety of food available.
I'll know more about what I can handle once I have a chance to chat with y'all in person. (says the swap virgin ... )

Hello everyone!!!
We are working on getting coupons from stamping and scrapbook stores in each direction so that if you want to stop at one on the way home you will have a coupon and save a little money. So far we are talking to, Scrapbooking and Beyond in Coloma, Lighthouse Books in Wisconsin Rapids, The Memory Bank in Baraboo, and will be picking out couple more. I am going to see if Gina K will mail me her monthly coupon sheets for April and May so we can hand those out at the swap too. Hope to talk to her at the Open House on January 31, but will most likely call before that. She has the best little shop just off of the beltline outside of Madison.
Have you guys seen that a new store just opened in Oxford? It is called Stuck on Cards. She is just starting out. I am interested in the Swap, but I will have to think about it, as that is the first Saturday after tax day and I am a tax accountant. I just don't know if I would have enough time to commit to it before hand.
I will add that store to my list of stores to call. We have been putting flyers in stampng stores too, so maybe we will get even more ladies here on SCS from our area.
Elaine and I could help you out before the tax season gets too busy. We are pretty close to you. Plus with a demonstator or 2 available just to help new stampers this could be the best way to ease into shoebox swaps. I was so clueless my first swap. To be honest I went for the used stuff being sold at the garage sale section.

You two are amazing!

You are too nice, you are the one who talked us into trying again. At lunch on the last road trip to Gina K's when I told you that the timing was off last time we tried you said we should try again. So we did and everything is going just wonderful this time. So, on that note I must say to you,
THANKS!!
Mel
HELLO Ladies!!!
I will update the sign-up list after our road trip to Gina K's on Saturday. We will decide the offical particulars of the notebook challenge at that time, with group views/thoughts and a vote, majority rules. I will also be picking up at least one of the prizes for the swap that day, so a "sneek peek" for those at the open house. Don't worry if your not there some one will tell you, probably me (I got a big mouth). HOPE to see you there!!!
The Notebook Challenge will be.....A, it will be done just like the anything but a card. We will design a notebook and make enough notebooks with that design to trade with each person signed up for that swap. Thanks ladies!
Melissa will let you know right after the deadline for registration which is March 1st, how many cards (and optional swaps that you sign up for) that you will need to have.
She will also let you know how many of the cards will need to be premade. Our goal is to have 30 participants. Please tell all of your stamping friends! Thanks! Elaine
Hello everyone.
We had a blast on Saturday with Gina K's open house and then lunch with the Curd Herd. I picked up the new release "Perfectly Polished" as a prize for the swap....along with some other great things at Gina K's and at Archeivers. Everyone should be able to find a prize that is right for their taste. Plus all the Chocolate, Pappa Murphy's Pizza, & Subway Subs. For the ladies that have marked water as their drink of choice, is there a brand or flavor that is preferred?
Hello everyone,
Diane sent the cutest little treat bag! I'll post pics later today.
There is still room for more stampers so come stamp with us in Friendship!!!
The forms are attached to post #1 and the list is posted on #4. We have room for 30 stampers....and GREAT prizes too.
See you here in April!! That's when we all come out of hybernation!
Isn't that the truth?!
Tomorrow it's supposed to be 55 degrees here! Thud! (Jean faints)

Hi,
I'll try to get pics up today,Diane you are so sweet. Thanks, again. My daughter said the chocolate with the flower was really good...what was that? I didn't even get to see it. That kid is quick!
We had the best Stamp Camp yesterday with Elaine. She always comes up with the cutest projects. Great color combos too.
