They were a good price and came with an extra ski game.
it's so much fun.

It was the guy across the road and he's not nice. Three of us on my side of the street shovel / salt / plow for each other ( since we're all one strip ), but the other side isn't friendly to one another.

The college campuses have closed, all of the County offices, City offices and charter twonship / neighboring village offices have closed in the last twenty minutes... all but the emergency crew fixing a blown system and my DH's company have left their job site, including the lead contractors...

...and Chris is STILL at work. If the snow didn't let up an hour ago, they would've kept the stretch of highway closed that he needs to drive to get home. It was shut for two hours but is reopened now.

The company owner says they can't leave.
The men had to call the union and scream about hazardous working conditions... the owner says that until the union Business Manager or President says that he has to send the men home, they are staying at work and continuing to work.

Thankfully, I think that call came through since lunchtime, because when I called Chris ( about 10 min. ago ) to tell him about the hwy reopening, he said that they are cleaning up and he'll call when he's officially leaving the campus.

What does your hubby do? I can't imagine requiring folks to work unless they are emergency or medical personnel..

I've come to the realization that my collection of stamps, paper, ribbon etc. is INSIGNIFICANT compared to what my mother has "collected". YIKES. I could go Christmas Shopping HERE, pull out what I want, go home and be very happy without them spending a cent on me this year. (and yes, 1 or 2 things might find their way to my place somehow anyways that didn't come with me...Surely she won't notice one or two sheets of DP amongst the stash!

Hey ladies - snow started here just before 1 and we have about 4 inches now.. maybe more. Looking up to 14 by the time it is done and maybe more on Sunday - yee ha!!

Funny thing... David leaned in to kiss me as he was heading out earlier today, forgetting he was wearing a baseball cap. Yup, you guessed it, brim of hat into eye. Same eye... owie again...

we are getting rain outside Philadelphia. I think it might turn icy though. dh and I are going out with a few friends to a very nice restaurant with 6 bottles of wine. Hope it doesn't get too icy. We could walk home from the dinner if we had to though.

LJ I am havieng a hard time imagining ham pickles and cream cheese, maybe I will have to give it a try some time, what kind of pickles do you use?

Mini Kosher Dill Pickles. They are really yummy! And I use whipped cream cheese, as it's easier to spread.

Braeden was, hands down, the best performer in the entire kindergarten group of forty yahoos.

He did his line perfectly, sang every song, performed the choreography as close to flawlessly as a five year old can muster and behvaed impeccably.
I don't know who was beaming more after all the compliments he received - him, or I.

Nah, it was definitely me. He's a pretty humble kid.

Spud sings very well, and is incredibly coordinated ( no clue where he gets that from! I'm a dancer gone fat and lazy, but trip over my own feet any other time, and Ward's as Drunken White Guy as they come ). He'll be a smash in the theatre department when he gets older.

Iain did better than expected. We were just SO grateful that he wasn't in his usual stance - sort of rocking back and forth, left hand index finger crammed up his nose.

We made it through last night without any snow, and this morning ( and I went to bed at 12:00, mind you, so we are talking under five hours ) it looks like Old Man Winter took a gigantic dump everywhere.

And just as I figured would happen, because it's the last day before break, and the whole darn staff was talking about it yesterday, as if the Super had already signalled a go ( probably because he wanted to get back to Philly on time ), we have a snow day.

Looking at the list, we haven't had that many schools close at once yet this season, and we've had three days that were FAR worse than this.

Seems that quite a few districts hopped on this extra day off gig.

Now I am REALLY glad that I brought everything to the school yesterday!

..and now, because I can, I'm headed to the couch with a disc of Hetty Wainthropp, to doze off and do nothing til about 10:00.

Yay snow day!!!

OK, the whole Spud stance made me snort a Cheeto. . .DA-YAM!!! That freakin' hurts!!!

I didn't shovel a foot of snow for nothin'" the bleeping snow plow drives through, close to my curb, and viola`! I have a waist deep ( and no, I am NOT kidding. It's Eskimo love out there! ) snow to haul out just to pull out of my driveway.

As I looked at that, I had a series of thoughts.

1. SH*T!!!

2. I'm really glad that I picked up some staple groceries last night.

3. SH*T!!! SH*T!! SH*T!!! I have to dig this f***ing thing out AGAIN!!

4. Why don't we own a snow blower?

5. Oh wait, it's because my husband is a retard. Too bad he's not the one that does the shoveling.

6. Bludgeoning him to death with that shovel sounds like a really, really good idea.

7. Temporary insanity isn't a legal plea in Michigan... but if I have to dig out this damned driveway too many more times today, that insanity won't be temporary.

8. Dude! I could totally just throw his bloody carcaass into that snowdrift and n oone would find him for like a month! That'd serve his a** right for not buying me a snow blower!

I'm going to eat some toast, throw back a 32 oz coffee loaded with some good Irish whiskey.....

...on second thought... I think I hear my neighbor firing up his snow blower!! Thank you God in Heaven.. there is a Santa Claus!!
OMG. . .CHEETO is freakn' lodged behind my eyeball now!!!

That would be the ultra handy car brush / window scraper.

Or when you're a stupid college kid who can't ever seem to remember to keep one in her car, a CD case will suffice ( just don't use one that you care about because it's a 50/50 shot that it'll survive the usage! LOL ).

It's not a Midwestern thing, it's a Wisconsin thing.

Though, to be fair, you can find them in Canada too, and from what I have heard, upstate New York, as well... and probably our northernmost UP area, since it's so close to Canada, .

Between living in Michigan, frequenting all over our mitten and the UP, and my stint in Illinois, I never, ever saw one ( we get the ol' pasties instead! ).

My first trip to the great Cheese State it was everywhere. They didn't earn that title for nothin'! LOL

Deep fried, salty blobs of cheddar cheese. A dish of Wisconsin origin and a big gimmick everywhere there. Don't ever buy them from a supermarket, though... BLECH!

Okay, now I'm hungry!!

The ham / pickle / cr, cheese wraps are a common party snack around here, too. Same with the Polish Roses ( substitute the pickle for green onion ).

Kristi ( my DB's fiancee ) made a huge platter of pickle wraps for Thanskgiving... there were leftovers of everything but those.

Fried cheese curds I will never understand, I far prefer a Bridie to a Pasty, and those weirdo fries in gravy I'll pass up any day, but I love pickle wraps.

If I didn't care about getting really fat or blocking an artery, I'd live off deep fried mushrooms, chicken club sandwiches and pickle wraps forever.

Gael!! Yikes!! We'll need to bling out an eye patch for you soon, if you're not careful! *hug*

I will trade every last one of you for snowfall rates. We received almost nine inches between 3:00 and 9:00 AM today, and a steady rate of 3/4" to 1" an hour from the 9:00 hour until about 1:00 ( the local channel wasn't real specific ), and we're expecting up to another foot by tomorrow midday.
I'm feeling pretty durn Alaskan today! LOL

I am pretty sure that when I enter the Ninth Circle of Hell, it will in fact be frozen over and I'll be standing there in soggy socks, forzen blue jeans and wet, stinky jeresy gloves. Doomed to forever digging my way out of an endlessly buried driveway.
