i am trying my hand at layering and would like a good set of layering flowers/wildflowers. i have seen the tim holtz wildflowers and think they might be the right ones for me, but can you share your favorite flower stamps that you like for layering..and maybe even link to a card that uses them? thanks!!
You might check out Jennifer McGuire videos. She did at least one floral with layers this week and has lots in her library from different companies. She usually mentions if they are easy to match up. Altenew has been releasing a lot of layering florals lately. Hero Arts does some very realistic ones.
I'm not sure what you mean by layering, unless you mean stamps that have multiple steps to make them look more realistic. And if that is what you mean, I'm not aware of any multi-step stamps by Tim Holtz.

Yes on WPlus9 also. I think Tulip Time from Papertrey Ink is one of their best multistep sets and that is a beautiful example of a card made with it in the post above.
I love the Altenew Beautiful Day set. The Peony is also gorgeous. The flowers look amazing and they're easy to line up. I also have their Vintage Roses and Painted Flower sets, but I find the layering tougher on those. The Ton also has some very pretty layering stamps for various flowers and a hummingbird. Hero Arts has koi fish, a peacock, a flamingo and a rooster in addition to some of the flowers they've been doing.
I just purchased Hero Arts poppy, first time trying layering. Second attempt turned out great received many compliments
. Could not resist buying it at a stamp show after seeing Jennifer McGuire's tut. My colors on the mini ink pad was different from hers but is very realistic. Soooo I think I will try more. I hope more companies come out with mini ink pads.
The Altenew stamps are my favorites. Although they are not flowers the koi, the flamingo the goldfish, the seahorse and the under the sea animals from Hero Arts line up perfectly. I'm assuming the poppy from that series will too. It helps me to have a MISTI for some of these but it's not necessary if you have a steady hand.
okay those are all gorgeous!! but i guess i used the wrong terminology. What i was looking at was this card and how she masks flowers to layer different images--so i guess i am thinking about masking, not layering? sorry, i am new to this. But now I want the hero arts layering stamps!!
You can use masking paper like that manufactured by Inkadinkado or a Molotow masking pen or sticky all over post it notes. Jennifer McGuire did a video a week or so ago using the the Molotow masking pen. There are other masking fluids for sale also. Hope that helps.

You can make a mask for any flower that you are able to fussy cut. I have some from Winnie & Walter that would work beautifully, if I had the patience to do this technique. Which I don't. I admire your ambition! I would rather just cut out the flowers and stick them on top of each other. Doh! ;)!
I don't see Winnie & Walter mentioned much here. They're a pretty small outfit, but they have some lovely sets, all clear. And also some very nice dies.

Perhaps I have it wrong - but there is no masking involved. What she did was color directly on the stamp with markers, lightly misted the stamp with water, and then stamped. You can see how the stamps overlap. The Holtz set will work but so will any set with multiple wildflowers. My favorites are ones that I've had for years so I did a quick search for wildflower rubber stamps.

In addition to Fresh Cut Florals I have Feather & Florals. This set is just a two step. It's not like Pretty Peonies which is a three step flower. I don't have that one. I also have Summer Blooms and that one is fitting the centers of the flowers into the blank spaces rather than building. I really like it though. I have a some older flower sets from Papertrey Ink like Rosie Posie. That's a true builder set with a three step rose. Today Altenew came out with a very nice sneak peek of a hibiscus stamp that looks like a builder. I will be watching when they start demoing that one. Can't tell how big it is yet.
