... when I see a nice top. Or beach towel. Or floral arrangement. Or any number of other random items that send you into a colour combo and card layout frenzy.
... when you keep buttons from an old sweater or coat. Or ribbon and embellishment from a candle or bath gift set. Or an orphan earring because it will add the perfect touch to a card sometime.
... when you decline a lunch invitation after church because you have cards burning holes in your cranium and you just gotta get to it.
These are all facts. Of course I have noooo idea who has experienced them haha ;)
Yep! I keep all those ribbons that come around slipper socks, as if I don’t have enough!
I cut up pretty boxes to save, if the design is pretty, like Kleenex and tea!
And it is true Kathy, when I see a top someone is wearing, I think in terms of SU colors, and think someone should make a stamp like that design!
And, yes, when I am out somewhere, I have wished I was home sometimes, Stamping, or playing in my craft room!
I think I get more ideas when I’m out and about than I do sitting at my craft table. The trick for me is to write it down or take a photo, hoping to recapture the inspiration when I have time to play ;)
I have asked total strangers if I can take a picture of their outfit/tie for a card idea. Surprisingly most say yes. Of course I complement their outfit first!! One server at our favorite restaurant wears some amazing aloha shirts. I’ve made cards using his shirts as inspiration. Of course they go to him, most of the time.
I’ve taken pictures of tiles in the ladies room in restaurants too! Guess I’m hooked!
I bought a house flag with seashells on it. I'm thinking that pattern would make an interesting card. Saw a neat looking flower pattern on a file folder, snapped picture of it with phone so I make a back round for future cards.
Love color combos on clothes. Inspiration is everywhere indeed! : ]
I get lots of ideas at the fabric section of the craft stores.... color combos, patterns, floral details or colors. I too am inspired by clothing others wear (not me though, I'm always in a boring solid color tshirt!) but unlike others I'm more likely to put my phone on silent and snap a picture on the sly (without getting their face!) than to ask permission and sound strange :-) Home decor pillows, linens, and wallpaper are other great sources though I don't see them as often now that I cancelled most catalogs and magazines I used to get.
