OMG! Do you know how hard it is to laugh to yourself! The rest of the house is still sleeping!

I have done the heat gun with EP before and the cleaning of the scissors trick!

I dropped my Really Red inkpad on the floor, luckily it landed face up - lucky until the dog stepped on it and tracked red ink all over the carpeting! (Thank goodness for Simple Green cleaner!) I figured the dog's foot was dry and it would wear off eventually.

His foot was still stained red when my DH came home from work - with his WHITE uniform shirt on. Well, need I say more? (and this was 10 hours after the dog stepped in the red ink pad!) At first DH thought the dog's foot was bleeding, and I was laughing so hard I couldn't tell him it was ink.

THEN, the dog jumped off his lap - and started leaving red paw prints all over the hardwood floors!

Talk about a chain of events! I couldn't stop laughing! The dog, the carpet, the white uniform shirt and the hardwood floor all survived without a permanent mark!

Default Another Bonehead Move

AACK! Perhaps I need to step away from the craft table for a while...

Tonight I was poking holes in my cardstock so I could put in some brads. I was using my paper piercer. It just seemed really thick...and difficult to poke a hole through. That should have been a clue, but no!!

You know why it was so tough??

Yes, you guessed it...I had the whole card underneath...folded in half! So now I have 2 holes that look like snakebites in my card base. **sigh**

Off I go to pull the card apart!!

Please, continue on with the stories! They have made me laugh...and I feel in good company!

When I first started embossing, I carefully stamped my Versamark image on my cardstock, sprinkled with the EP and started to use the heat tool. Each time I fired it up, the powder blew right off the paper! So I tried again, same thing. OK, read the directions on the gun. So I tried heating from the back, still the powder fell off............Finally, I looked at the powder container only to find I had regular glitter and NOT EP!!

Use a bit of double stick repositionable tape or Tack it Over & Over to keep your paper in place. Then it will rub right off the paper and the glass.

Oh I feel so much better after reading all your "adventures".

Yesterday, I was coloring an image using Gamsol and I kept geting black smears. I kept switching to different black ink pads thinking I must have forgotten which pad I usually use (I tried 10 different pads)! Still black smears!

I cleaned the pencil tips, maybe there is black ink on the lead, nope, still black smears. Then I thought it must be the new blender stumps, I just bought some new ones and they MUST be defective! So, I went back to my old set of stumps and darn, still black smears!

Finally, yep, I'm a little slow, I looked at the sponge aplicator on my Gamsol bottle, it was dark grey. Everytime I picked up some gamsol I also picked up grey from my dirty top. I washed the top with soap and water and the problem was fixed. But, I stamped about 20 images and a lot of frustration before I had my ah ha moment.

My small craft table was a mess. I wanted to heat emboss, so I thought it would be fun to just sit on the floor and quickly emboss. Then, I noticed a smell.... Did you know that carpet melts???

I was also using my CM circle cutter once, and I couldn't figure out why it wasn't cutting as well as it used to. Then I looked down. I have a perfect circle carved into my coffee table because I forgot the cutting mat.

Oh, subscribing!

I have (it's #2 now) that little blue tray for EP/glitter etc. After carefully applying the EP to a card and using the heat gun ... a little tooooo long - blue tray #1 melted!

Another time I was cleaning off the hot knife - with an old scrap of thick card stock. It wasn't thick enough.. OUCH!

I cunningly labelled a card as "for left handers" after sticking down the wrong inside flap of a trifold/aperture card...waste not want not!

Ok, so I have to jump in on this one after laughing so hard!!

I was trying to decorate my dd's art bag for preschool, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to attempt stamping on fabric. The preschool gave us re-usable shopping bags to decorate.

First I stamped the image in craft ink. Then I realized that it didn't show up really well on the black bag. So I tried heat setting it. Did you know this bag was made out of recycled pop bottles?? I didn't, until it melted!!

It only took 3 seconds. Can we say, embellishment opportunity??

my friend sent me some embossing powder in little baggies, to try out some before investing. Well, I tried some with a hair dryer, which made a huge mess. I was so aggrevated at the mess that I tossed the baggies in the drawer OPEN! oh yea, what a mess. there is embossing powder everywhere, I have cleaned out that chest like 5 times! the drawers UNDER that one had sewing material folded in there, and that stuff is everywhere. unfold, shake, fold. close drawer, open and COVERED AGAIN!

I spilled a small amount embossing powder on my lap while wearing my fleece robe. I tried to blow it away with my heat gun.... I now have a special embossed "Stamping Robe" LOL

this is organization related...
I was putting up towel bars for to store my punches on the side of a scavenged computer desk with pullout shelves perfect for cb, trimmers, cutters, cod etc...
I had screwed in the third bar before I realized that they were all too close
I had not taken into account the amount of punch that hangs down from the first layer above...
( DUH!!!!it was like, after midnight...usually, I am so smart about things like that)
dangit right? live and learn...but oh well, just get on with it
so next I move it and screw it in again...
umm... right into the hardware that holds the slidey drawer thing...

I removed it but then I went to bed and never finished it...
it mocks me daily.

punches are in something else I scavenged
in drawers...
I would like to house them humanely... in the sun!
I'm an "outta sight outta mind" crafter
though I love the punches, so....

I haven't done anything great like all of you have...just that once I had several pieces of tape, needed a place to set another one so absently stuck it to my lip. Ow.

Ok, I'll admit my bonehead moment too.
Late at night I'm feelin' the groove and Aha! I'll use some of that shimmering mist spray (in dark blue). Shake, shake -- what the #[email protected]!?
Yup. Dark blue glimmery stuff *ALL* over. Me, the light colored carpet, the bathroom, all the stuff 'filed' on the floor. What a disaster!
Thankfully I had bought a bottle of Motsenbocker's a few days earlier, *just in case*.

Last week I was leaving stamp club, walking to my car and bam like a huge tree falling in the forest I fell. Busted both of my knees and was lying on the sidewalk as 2 cars went past. Tried to call my demo, who thought I was her husband and didn't answer right away, as I laid on the sidewalk. Thank goodness she called me back. I broke my arm! Needless to say, no stamping for a couple weeks. My demo's did drive me to get x-rays and then home.

LOL!!!! What a great thread!!
Way back before I actually owned an embossing gun, I used to use a hot iron. Did you know that EP sticks to EVERYTHING?!?!??!!? In fact the EP melted right onto the plate. Boy was I a dummy!!! I now have 2 irons, a "craft" iron and a regular one. oooyyyieeee!!!! The craft iron still has glitter on it, 6 years later.
You can stop laughing now.

Motsenbocker's Lift Off #3... truly a miracle!
You get it at the hardware store (Home Depot is where I found it) usually with the stuff used to clean up graffiti - not with regular cleaners. I think it was around $6? Not too bad considering the size. Make sure you're looking for #3, different numbers mean a different formula - like for grease or something.
Totally something I won't ever live without again!

Yes, I do know that carpet melts!! Ask me how I know

I just replaced the blades for my CM circle cutter -- and man, are the new ones ever sharp! I cut myself three times in one night -- there was a lot of my DNA on those cards but I sent the suckers out anyway! Geez, if I had started over from scratch, I may have needed a transfusion by the end of the night.

Yup, this is a "don't live without it" product! I spilled red wine on my friend's white chair -- all over it so it looked like a murder had been committed there. She sprayed with with the Motsenbocker's that is made to use with wine and the stain disappeared before our eyes in a matter of seconds. Truly amazing stuff!

it almost sounds kinky...
what will the husbands think..?
all of us whispering and blushing
( embarrasment over our accidents, not lust)
and advising each other on how to have our needs met
( kind of stain)
all of us speaking in hushed tones about gettin some...
(store)
finding the right one
( the number)
and the name
...motsenbocker... almost dirty...
the men will think we are sharing a new kinky technique...
or the name of a hot young gigolo!

Oh this is way too funny. Furniture damage as well as damage to the person, child and pet. Who know crafting was dangerous to more than our wallets???

I don't have a story to share but just have to say that I laughed out loud (at my desk at the office, no less) with tears in my eyes the first time I read this thread. A real mood lifter. Thanks everyone for sharing.

My most recent "duh" moment was tonite. I was using my nesties in the cuttlebug and put the paper under the cutting side. It took me about 5 minutes to get the nestie unstuck from the C plate. I had issues coloring a simple image and decided tonite was not a good nite for me. So here I am on SCS! Laughing at your stories too!

OH these are sooo funny! Thanks for the laughs I have had several "duh" moments but one of my VERY favorites (looking back on it now) was I was nursing my weeks old son and trying to put some cards together at the last minute, rushing. He was just laying in my lap, happy as could be in his boppy, so I thought no problem. Wrong! You all know how sticky glue dots are, right?! When he was done, I called my husband and he happily took him to the living room, but after a few moments he said "Honey, I think there's something wrong with the baby????"

WHO KNEW that those dreaded ZOTS would stick to EVERYTHING!

My "duh" moment was yesterday. I was sitting here reading some posts on SCS and I got to one that I thought "man that sounds like something I would say" I look to see who the poster was, and lo and behold... it WAS me! LOL

Never let a cat get near glitter. Mine tried to eat it and then managed to spill the whole thing on the carpet! Not only did he look ridiculous with all this glitter on his face (which was a ***** to get out), but even after vacuuming, I had glitter for months! I could see it shining with the sunlight!

After a 4 day scrap-a-thon (we rent a house here in North Texas) and a few Appletini's I decided I needed to learn to emboss at 4 am. Everything was fine until I wanted to "see" if the heat tool was working....and I looked straight into the thing. Now here's the kicker (as if a hot eye is not enough): I wear only one contact instead of cheaters and did you know that a contact can melt in your eye???? Got to it just in the nick of time and saline solution gets it off the eye but try explaining that to your eye doc.

OMG! Sounds like appletinis and heat guns shouldn't be used together!

That's hysterical!! This is a great thread. I don't know how many times I've put a card together upside down or backwards.
