I would like to get a list going of gifts that you've made for your aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, friends, etc for Christmas, Birthdays, etc. Some of us would like to just look at a list and gather ideas that way. It also helps so that we don't have to sit and go through the gallery if we really don't know what it is that we are looking for.
If you have a link to the gallery where you have posted it, please let us know.
Message boards- I buy inexpensive frames and use dsp and/or stamps to make a nice insert (you need to use somewhat subdued colors so you can see the writing). You write the message on the glass.
Tile version- stamp with stazon onto a 8 X 8" or 6 X 8" glossy tile. Just stamp or use rub-ons on one edge or a corner so there will be open space to write on.... seal only the decorated area with crystal effects. Glue ribbon (E-6000) to the back and cover with felt or cork. I have one by my front door and we write on it all the time.
I like giving books and when I do I give beaded book thongs that I have made.
I also make jewelry so most of the women that I give gifts to get jewelry for b-days.
I've also given coasters, trivets, note card sets, stamped or dsp decorated candles and journals.

I also like to make Desktop Calendars. They are made out of the acrylic photo frames and you add a calendar and the larger ones you can add a mini post it note pad and pen to also. I dont have any pictures of them in my gallery or blog but you can find them here, I am sure.
Okay, those are some of my ideas of things I love to give as gifts:
One thing young people get a buzz from is when you give them shrink plastic earrings. I stamp the shrink plastic and then colour it, cut it out leaving a spot for a hole which I use the largest hole my crop-a-dile. Shrink with an embossing heat tool (or oven). I get an earring finding from the beading section of the craft store and thread it through the hole which is much smaller now. Sometimes I will add beads. I always make sure the earrings have the little plastic backing so they don't slip out of the ear.
Any large simple stamp is great for this. Most of my young friends get very excited over them; they are unique.
Ihave a Zutter punch, I get six inch by six inch pieces of chipboard, punch holes in three sides of four of them, and four sides of one (five pieces). Then I will gesso both sides of the chipboard. When the gesso is dry I use my mini stamp pads to "paint" and blotch all over in colour themes. then I will stamp and embellish over the "paint". then I will get wire or ribbon, some beads and things and thread each of the holes to form an open top box. These are fantastic gifts for all year round giving. If you wanted, you could make a lid. Of the couple of lidded ones I have made, I have used the small spine wires for the "hinge". To close it, I use ribbon or add a further flap and use a velcro dot.
People so appreciate these sort of gifts.
I often make up cards presented in a hand made box. I try to include a packet of postage stamps and a small pen.
It often depends on the person what I end up giving them, but I am thinking I am going to have to keep a list of what I have given to each person so as not to double up.
Being a coffee drinker, I purchased the travel coffee mugs and customized the inserts for each person in my work team. An engaged girl got a bride, my boss loves wine so he got grapes on his mug. I didn't take photos of all of them (what was I thinking) but they raved. Last year everyone got a mini legal pad with matching pen. They were covered with DP, many with their initials on them. This year they are getting mini calendars on an easel card to sit on their desk. Small is good in today's cubicles.
My Mom was the eldest of 6 children. In 06 one of my aunt's and her brother my uncle called me to see if we could have a family reunion at my house that summer. I am the oldest grand child in my family and have always been close to my aunts and uncles. So I had all of them send me two of their favorite recipes so I could make a family recipe/scrapbook . My first page was a picture of my grandparents as a young married couple. So that pages said " all because two people fell in love. I made the book like big tags. So the family name is Zimmerman. My books all had a large Z on them. As you flipped the pages up I had two pictures of my Mom's sibblings and the bottom page was a pocket page with their recipes. I hand wrote the recipes on a card that I made. Instead of the icon telling what the food was I stamped a Z on each one. Then on the last page I put all their birthdates and a little private message to each one. They were a big hit. I made one for each family and all of my cousins that came also got one. I have a stamp room but it's downstairs so I put a plastic table cloth on my dining room table and left it all there until I got everything done. It took me a month because nothing was premade. Since that time I lost my Mother and two of my uncles. So glad we had this family reunion. I also hired a photographer for an afternoon and she took random pictures and pictures of each family and several other photos. She gave me the film and I had them printed b4 everyone left so they would all have the pics. I did not load the books on my gallery but I will try to do it soon and I will post in this thread. Forgive me if this got a little wordy!

I have a friend that likes to stamp, and for this year I went through my stash and put together a whole bunch of pre-stamped images, brads, buttons, ribbon, and cut a bunch of dp into 6x6 squares. I know she'll love playing with all her new goodies, and I didn't have to spend any money, just use what I already had.
I'm making these cute tissue box covers for early Christmas gifts, but they could easily be adapted to any other holiday, like Valentines.
You could customize them to match someone's powder room or bedroom, too, for a nice gift.
They are super easy to make and go together very quickly. Here is the link to the tutorial in the Resources section. There are also quite a few examples in the gallery.
Oh man, I could kick myself...I just threw out an empty Kleenex box in the recycle bin on Wednesday, oh well.
Thanks for the links to your suggestions, it will help us "oldies" and the "newbies" to find all of these wonderful suggestions!
No problem, Mary. You don't need the box to make the holder. I made a couple of holders first, and then got the little square boxes of Kleenex to go in them. I found a 10-pack at Sams pretty cheap. But even at Walmart, a box was only about $1.80. I'm going to use them as little Christmas gifts "all loaded up" with a new box of Kleenex.

Oh Mary, you are funny! And I did need a laugh today.
We could always give the empty ones to people we don't like very much.;-)
Oh, both are you are too funny. I thought Mary was funny about the empty box and then I read Bugga's take on it. . . both are so funny. I need a good laugh.
OR you could make a gift set...one full + one empty for the used tissues!;-)

for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.
(borrowed from the quirkey card sayings thread).
Could you image the suprise look on someone's face if they took the pretty box off and there, underneath, was an EMPTY box!!!! Now that would be Priceless!!

I'm cracking myself up here.
Apologies to Candace for hi-jacking your great thread. Back to business.

Yes, very cute. I made a bunch of these last year and they were a huge hit, especially with teen girls (and their moms, too.)
The tutorial uses the SU Top Note die, which I don't have. I used the largest Nesty in the Labels 1 set for the purse flap and just adjusted the measurements a little to fit.
