Default xyron?

Helo everybody! hope Christams was great! I received some Micheal's $$$, and I want to purchase a xyron with it. Which one would be the most useful if you only have one? What kinds of things can I do with one. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the 510, I chose it because I had gone to their website and compaired the difference between the models. I tried to go there today to see what it was and it is no longer set up that way. But I really do like mine and I also received money and I'm going to buy a refill for it! lol

Sounds good to me. Do you know how big of an item you can put into that one. Let me know. D

I have the 510 and yhe little x shaped sticker one. It is great for small things and ribbon I use it alot. I hate wasting the sticky stuff when you only need to do something small. I've heard complaints about the 500 leaving a sticky residue on everything. Lucky you, you'll love it.

I have the 510 and love it for the permanent adhesive. I didn't care for the laminate but the adhesive is great.

Default ooh!

Ooh, ribbon, I never thought of that. I might just have to get both of them now. I've seen the little x one, and it's very resonably priced. Now I'm more excited!

I bought the little X just to try out the Xyron. I used it for the first time last night, and I LOVE it! I put adhesive on the back of some stamped acetate...then applied Pearl Ex to the adhesive so that it would show through the acetate. Super pretty!
Thanks for the advice on the larger models...I will definitely be purchasing one in the very near future.

I have the xyron 1200. It is 12 inches wide. I think it is a little too big. A couple of friends have the 850 which is 8 inches wide. I also have friends that have the 510. I think either the 510 or 850 would be your best bet. You can find their refillls easier also. I don't think Michaels even sells the 1200. Good luck in picking such a wonderful craft tool.

I also have the 510 and love it...perfect size for me. Can do a card front with ease.

Default Xyron

I have the 1200 which I purchased several years ago at a Scrap convention. I use it mostly for laminating things for church. The laminate isn't as thick as if you would take it to a place that does laminating but suffices for my needs. You can also do magnet, adhesive(permanent & repositional) with it.When I get back to IL after the 1st I can email you a great site for purchasing it. They even offer free shipping sometimes.
I also have the 510 which I bought at Michael's with a coupon or when they were 50 % off (can't remember which). Don't use it as much but it came in really handy when I ran out of mono adhesive when doing my Christmas cards. I used my embossing buddy( Baby powder will also do the trick-learned that from a Mrs. Grossman's clinic) to take care of the extra adhesive around the edges. (That problem may be due to the fact that I do a lot of tearing with my card layers, it may not be so bad with a straight edge). I recently purchased a Xyron "kit" which had the little sticker maker (shaped like an X) ,the new xyron tape runner and repositional tape plus refills with a Michael's coupon. I really like the sticker maker for the small things I punch out with my Sizzix for scrapping. The runner is a little different than most because it's dots and not a solid line of adhesive. Whatever you buy, use a coupon or buy it on sale!! FYI-Michael's also honors competitor coupons (i.e. Joann fabrics).
Good Luck and Happy Shopping!!

I have the 250. I got it off a special from QVC, it came with four refills. Not a bad deal. Anyway, I think it's just the right size. Not too big, not too small. If money were no object, I would get the little X one and the 500. that way I could use the one that would waste the least amount of adhesive. I go through that stuff like water!

I have the 500 and hate it!! Actually, I broke it last night trying to get the @$@% thing to work!! I am a little gunshy about getting another but if I get one of those great coupons and have extra money into the new year I might try another. I lilke the "idea" of it, and hopefully one of the better ones will be better.

Good Luck, sorry for the sob story!!
