Default Which would you pick?

Hubby and I were talking the other day....

If you had your choice would you pick a new car (within reason - no Bentley or stuff like that) & no stamps as your New Year gift

OR

all the stamps & stuff that you ever wanted but have to rely on HIM to transport you around town?

I know what MY answer would be, but I thought it would be fun to ask....

Eeewwww...........giving up a vehicle is a huge loss of freedom. Course if I had to rely on someone else for a ride then I'd be home more and could stamp more but work would sure be a pain. I think I'd have to take the car though, it'll last longer and I'd be saving money on a car payment for that whole year and go CRAZY at the end of the year!

Ohhh, I'd have to take the car. Hehe. My car is 13 years old and I sure don't want to buy a car that comes with a shiny new car payment!!

I have tons of stamp stuff. Give me the car, baby! I drive a 10 year old mini van. I can stamp quite happily with what I have for a year. A new car, now that's another thing entirely. Yepper, I'd take the car.

HMM... Would he wait in the car while I shopped for my stamping goodies, or would he have to come into the store with me?.......I hate to answer questions like "how much paper do you need?" LOL

Ok I would never be able to rely on someone else to drive me around...maybe if I lived in a Metro area it would be different.....but even the closest Wal-mart is a half hour away from me, let alone Archivers (1 hour)!

If you are asking if I would give up my stampin money for a car payment...NOPE. I drive a decent used Expedition which has no payments...and the other day we stopped and looked at new ones with the automatic running boards that slide out when you open your door...and built in GPS and flip down DVD...and we decided we would rather spend that monthly payment on toys and keep driving our same old same old.

If my choice was purely having a vehicle or stamps...gotta have a vehicle here.

I would never give up my car. I can't walk anywhere from my house. And no public transportation either.

But if the question is keep my current vehicle and still get stamp $$$ or get a new vehicle and no stamp $$$, I'll keep my truck. Thanks. I love my truck.

No stamps for how long????

One year? Until the car died? Do I get to keep all my stamps I already own or would stamps have to be *gasp* removed from my life altogether?

HHhhmmm...I have a newer car, too many stamp & scrap supplies....If it counts as a supply, I'd take another room in my house for a place to work & store all my scrap & stamp stuff.

Ok, some answers to the hypothetical question:

1) Yes, you can keep your current car but he'd drive it to your stamp store, to take you shopping, etc... (in my case, it's my 'baby' and I DON'T want to give it up even though it's 25 years old - the dream car has heated seats, heated mirrors, nav system, nice sound system, etc. etc...it's completely loaded and yes, he pays for gas too)

2) No, you wouldn't have to give up current stamps (that would never go over in my house)

3) You'd only have to stop buying stamps for a year

4) And NO car payment....pretend it's completely paid for

5) Yes, he'd WAIT in the car if you go for the STAMPS option - I TRIED that out tonight at two stores. I felt a little guilty, but at the 2nd place, he said, "take as long as you want...I know the lines can be long, so don't worry about it if they are slow." There were no lines, but I had to look at everything just in case...luckily he also parks FAR from the front door so he can't see me walking from one aisle to the next!

6) We live in a suburban metro area...so I COULD walk or get a ride or take a bus etc...

Any other votes?

This option would be out for me...he already thinks that Stamps & scrap stuff take up too much space in this house...a dedicated big stamp room, and overflow is in the family/media room.... but good try! I like your thinking!

Jeez, it's like "Sophie's choice." LOL I would make him get a Yugo and drive me around to pick up all the stamp stuff I want. That would be enough punishment for making me choose.

I'd take the car. I've been without a car, and it was not fun to rely on someone else for a year (in my case 2).

It would absolutely kill me, but, in your case with a 25 yr. old car (you must take great care of it), I'd have to say "The car". I could probably go five years without buying new stamps/supplies (except adhesives) and never make the same thing twice. I love the freedom my car gives me. The only way that I would give up my car is if I lived in Manhattan. Then I wouldn't need a car but I wouldn't have the space for all my stamping supplies cause I'd be living in a tiny apartment.

Oh I'd take the car in a heart beat! I wouldn't even think twice about it (cause he only said no STAMPS for a year, so you could your SCS sisters to stamp some images off for you and then you could still buy all the paper/embellies you want becuase those were not in the aforementioned stipulations)

Stamps. since my husband can't drive me back and forth to work, I'd be forced to quit my job and stay home and stamp. Looks like a win win situation....

Just for one year I would love for my DH to drive me around and not complain while I took my good sweet time in a stamp store, maybe an hour or two. I would also love it if he took me to the grocery store, Sam's Club, doctor's, dentist's, and sat and sat at PT, OT, and the many other things I have to do. How about when the kid's ask "take me to the mall, to the movies, pick my friend up, pick me up a pizza." Does that count? What I wouldn't give for my husband to live a year in my driving shoes without complaining!!!!!

I would take the stamp stuff over the car. I live in a small town so I walk everywhere and when I do my major shopping my DH goes with me anyway. I usually buy my supplies online and they are delivered to the post office so I don't have to drive there either. I have a 10 year old mini van that runs pretty good and my DH is a mechanic so when it needs fixing he does it himself. I don't think that I could ever give up buying supplies for a year, three months maybe but never a year.

For practical reasons I would take the car.
For fun reasons I would take the stamps.

The car would win.
But I would still slip in some stamp shopping her and there.

Knowing MY husband. I would take the goods! He would get so sick of driving me around to do my errands after the first 2 weeks that he surrender the car!!! He tells me ALL THE TIME - men are hunters, women are gatherers therefore men are not supposed to enjoy shopping. He'll do it, but if he can get away from it he will AT ANY COST! so, that is my scheme to get both. Is it sad that I try to work that angle?

I would take the new car. I already have enough stamp stuff. I only add to my pile with stuff I want, not need. I do need a car. DH works late hours and travels a bit so I would not be able to rely on him to take me where I need to go.

Definitely the car! I couldn't stand being late for everything like he is - that in itself would send me to the nut house! Besides, my car time is my sanity time - I get 30 minutes to work and 30 minutes from work COMPLETELY ALONE, and let me tell you, it's wonderful!

i'm thinking if i didn't have a car, HE would have to run all the errands, take/pick up our daughter from all her activities... (too good to be true)

then YES! i would have MUCH more time to stamp!

As much as I would love to have an unlimited shopping day (it would do wonders for all the San Diego area scrap and stamp stores!) giving up my much-used minivan and having to spend that much time with hubby is too high of a price to pay!

Plus, if I didn't have a car, how would I get to Michael's, Hobby Lobby, the LSS, etc.??? He's not gonna drive me there!

I'd have to go with the car, no question there. I have plenty of stamps and paper and ink to last me for a long time. There's no way I could run the kids around, get to my job, and go bargain hunting if DH had to drive us everywhere.

I'd take the car but get a pretty darn nice one! Plus, revise the 'no stamps for a year' to 'I won't buy any stamps for a year', then ask for gift certificates from everyone for every gift giving occasion for the whole year. That way I'd still get new stamps in the winter (Valentine's Day and Christmas), spring (anniversary and Mother's Day), and autumn (birthday) but I'd be keeping my promise because I wouldn't be buying them. Also, not buying stamps means you can still by cardstock, ink, ribbon....
